Hi,

well, as the EP45T-UD3R motherboard does not appear in the Kakewalk list, i tried with the EP45T-UD3LR.

i am not able to get into the BIOS settings, the computer always goes straigth to launch chameleon,,,

i did download and install another DSDT.aml file for this specific board from http://efixusers.com/showthread.php?t=38

but still no BIOS,,, and the startup screen is very bad resolution with black edges,,, this is not at all the case with my pc with a EP45-UD3P board,,,

any ideas ?

>> FW & Sound not working either,,,

sorry your using ddr3 ram, all i can say is that, im pretty sure not gettin into the bios has anything to do with Kakewalk.. try unplugging all drives and see if you can enter the bios.. from what i undertstand.. the bios setup is the 1st thing the computer runs, doesnt even look at BOOT options from the HD>. i could be wrong though...

I agree on the kakewalk has nothing to do with getting to BIOS,I currently do not have SL on my machine cause my test run was using my Macbook's DVD,getting a copy of SL from the Apple shop later, When I boot up, it shows the Gigabyte screen and POST before it goes to Chameleon without any problems, probably can try the CD method? and probably reset the bios? are you using USB keyboard and mouse or PS2?

Brief report on my latest budget build:

Hardware:

G41M-ES2L (rev. 1.1, BIOS F6)

NVidia GF8400GS

E6420 C2D 2x 2.13 GHz, Intel stock CPU-cooler

2x 1 GB DDR2 800 Corsair XMS2

Maxtor 40 GB IDE HDD

LG DVD-Burner ATAPI

vintage ATX case and PSU (350W, 20pin)

Installation: Kakewalk 2.2 USB, BIOS settings as given in KW-guide (skipped setting for SATA-mode (AHCI))

working OOB: Ethernet, graphics (DVI port/dual displays: QE, CI, 3D Ac.), IDE, USB

Updated to 10.6.3

not working: sound, sleep

Postinstallation:

- installed Sleep Enabler for 10.6.3 + checked "Start up automatically after a power failure" in energy saver preferences -> sleep works

- installed AppleHDA 10.6.2 (vanilla, used #####) (+ LegacyHDA + DSDT.aml from Kakewalk) -> sound works (front panel, connectors on motherboard, digital input/output not tested)

- changed kernel flags in com.apple.Boot.plist to "arch=x86_64" (I wonder why it was set to i386) -> system boots and runs on 64bit kernel without any problem

- changed BIOS settings for "Integrated Peripherals: USB Keyboard Support" to "enabled" to enable access to bootloader

- CPU temps were frightening (60 °C idle, up to 71 °C at stress test, the Intel heatsink is a piece of {censored}). Installed NullCPUPowerManagement.kext and now idling at 44°C

Conclusions:

- it is possible to install SL via Kakewalk on a IDE HDD and build a rig for SL without SATA drives

- Kakewalk 2.2 does not fix sound in 10.6.3 for G41M-ES2L (It seems AppleHDA.kext 1.8.4 (included in 10.6.3) at present can not be used with the ALC888b/ALC887 chip, take a look at tonymacx86 forum for details)

- using second hand and preexisting components a Kakewalk rig can be built for less than 150 EUR (190 USD)

Hi mrjanek

Would it be possible to enable the motherboard Gigabyte EP45-DS3L on the Next Version of the CD. Please

The resources appear to be in the application but not enabled.

Thanks in advance

no, i have 16gb and the whole ram is detected and used.

I've checked the bios of my ex58 ud3r and haven't seen any options about the ram except the overclocking ones.

Also in the forums I only find references to old post about chipsets that only permitted 4Gb of ram...

It's weird because the system profiler finds all the 12gb of ram, but the activity monitor only shows 8gb....

I don't know where to start with this. Any help is appreciated.

TIA

as of today (12/05), the first post shows the following compatible GB EX58 boards:

Gigabyte EX58-UD5

Gigabyte EX58-UD3R

Gigabyte EX58A-UD7

but the update log shows:

v2.2

- Added support for X58A-UD3R

could someone please confirm that all these boards are 100% compatible? im about to purchase a new GB board and my local supplier only carries the following new EX58A boards.

X58A-UD3R

X58A-UD5

thanks in advance!

Im using a 9800GT gpu. I had a smooth running hackintosh, but then stupidly decided to play with the resolutions. I put it on 1280*1024 and now all I have is the blue screen of no return. I switched DVI ports and it is back to "normal" but I need to figure out how to change the other screen because how it is plugged in now interferes with my PCI wireless internet antenna. Am I going to have to do a reinstall given that I need both working?

Hey guys, I'm experiencing a problem and I was wondering if someone could possibly point me in the right direction.

I have a true "hack"intosh, I'm running an i7 930 on a MSI X58M (can't find anyone else using this board) I used kakewalk for gigabyte ex58-ud3r since they have the same lan chipset and everything else seemed to match up other than sound. I deleted the dsdt included with kakewalk since that is for the gigabyte board.

Everything installed great and started up fine including qe/ci and dual screen support on my cheesy 8400gs.

However, whenever I install a program, I'm getting the same panic as the OP. I originally chalked it up to the fact that i upgraded to 10.6.3 on the first install (first screenshot) so I reinstalled and decided to only upgrade to 10.6.2. However, as you can see by the second screenshot I am still experiencing the same KP. It seems to only happen whenever I am installing anything, I can use the internet all day and it will be ok...

If anyone could lead me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it!

When the boot loader runs, you'll see a prompt that counts down asking you to hit a key for more options. Hit enter, and then you should see options to boot any bootable HD's in your system. It will most likely say "Foreign OS" for your windows drive.

You can also install a theme for chameleon so you get a gui boot menu.

Hope that helps!

I have said like making, but you do not listen to me?

For the customers of Gigabyte UD7 x58A

To make the pen drive with this package, to install snow leopard, to make upgrade to the 10.6.2…

after to upgrade at 10.6.3… and you put APPLE.HDA with Kext Utility, and audio work to 100%

Sorry for my bad english

That is strange... so if you use the motherboard F12 boot menu to select a hard drive directly it boots Win fine but from the boot menu on your os x drive no boot?

One thing I ran up against when getting my Win 7 install going is that I had to actually disconnect all OS X drives and run through the full install for Win. Once that was up and going, I was able to hook the OS X drive back up, boot loader came up and then was able to select my "Windows" drive out of the chameleon boot loader and it loaded up fine.

It is indeed strange, no matter,I've formatted and partition my Seagate hard disk,50GB for OSX and the rest for Windows, Since my Macbook's OSX partition takes up like,25GB? The rest are all pictures, music etc on another hard drive,so I just partition it,good riddance to that part!

Well for what it's worth I was never able to get OS X and Win 7 to exist on the same physical drive and work. An install of OS X and then Win 7 would break the OS X install, and an install of Win 7 then OS X would break the Win 7 install. I may have missed something but ended up punting and getting a 2nd SSD for my Win 7 setup and then went the route as I mentioned earlier of disconnecting the OS X drive and doing the clean Win 7 install and hooking the OS X drive back up with both behaving properly.

I would really like to be able to split my 160gb SSD in half for dual boot os x/win 7 off the same drive and sell my 100gb SSD to put some cash back in the toy fund.

Hello

Any chance of adding the GA-X58A-UD5 to this installer package? The other X58A s do not seem like they work for the UD5 version.

Has anyone tried this with a X58A-UD5? I haven't been able to get it to even load this board,

Thanks

Charles

You have to select "system reserved" as thats where Windows puts its bootloader (assuming you're using Windows 7). Hope this helps.
