ollvin
Hi ollvin Thats exactly what i started with NOT Suitable for a Kakewalk Build I ended up getting a Gigabyte 9800 GT 1 gig Silent Cell (GV-N98TSL-1GI which i have found to be Excellent. Or read back some pages and have a look at what other Graphic cards other people use Look in the signatures most are listed there Good hunting for a suitable card Ray Ah! F..k! S..t! ?§%#{}?!!! (Thank for your answer, though) I asked on this forum a few days ago and they said I was ok with a ATI card before HD5xxx serie... Well, so can anyone confirm that this one is ok for a kakewalk hackintosh: GAINWARD 9500GT-512 HD
Pier25
Does anyone know a fix to my mouse lag issues..Mouse is a bit jerky..I have the NVDIA 9800 GTX+ card Are you sure it's not a usb problem or a problematic mouse? I don't think the nvidia is the problem... I had a wireless laggy mouse, and it turned out the problem was low battery
Meatwagon
That's exactly how I was feeling! It seems like lots of people have had this problem but nobody lists how they fixed it--atleast from what I can tell. Ugh...anyway, I did try the CD version as well but that didn't work!! I can't get the .iso to mount and burn on my macbook pro. So I booted up win7, went the legacy route, booted from the cd and reached the screen that tells you to put in the SL DVD and press F5 after it spins up. So that felt like progress! haha! However, it just froze at that point. Hitting F5 didn't do anything and the SL dvd never showed up to boot from. I'm sure somebody has an easy fix for this...I just hope they show up soon! It's killing me looking at this rig and not being able to use it! haha! i dont know if you fixed this, i have posted a few times the fix.. i know you said you have all your bios settings right, but you dont, i ran into the same problem a few times, watch this video, and make suer your USB hdd is top priority, and remember when you unplug it and reboot, it loses prioty until you change it again.. video on teh fix
joergd
Hello mrjanek, thank you for your timely updates. My Hackintosh runs as fabulous as ever but the 9800GT's fan noise annoys me. Would it do any good for the fan noise to use NVenabler, NVinject and Natit.kext? I understand that the fan noise is because of the missing smc for the graphics adapter. Do you have any better idea? Thank you, J. Daehn
Meatwagon
I need some help. I'm a newbie, and just put this system together: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L motherboard Intel E8500 Core2Duo 4 x 1GB Cosair XMS DDR2-800 EVGA 9800GT PCIe 512MB video SATA Hard Drive and DVDRW I created a boot USB thumb drive using a 10.6.0 SL DVD, and then ran the Kakewalk program and selected my motherboard. I can boot from the thumb drive, and the install goes smoothly, but upon completion I do not have any audio device, and sleep does not work (when I select "sleep", it appears to sleep, but when I press the power button it goes through a complete system startup. Any suggestions? Do I need to update to 10.6.1 or 10.6.2? Thanks in advance? make sure in your bios s3 is on.that was my problem that fixed it. Siriusly
Hey, so I'm not sure if this is the right place but I figured that it was a popular and related thread so I might as well ask here. I've been looking into building a hackintosh for a while, and I think that I'll finally be able to buy nice parts to replace my 4 year old 2.16GHz Core Duo MBP. This Kakewalk application looks amazing and seems pretty simple. I haven't built a computer in years so please forgive/correct any foolishness. My main concern is the audio. Should it work just after running Kakewalk? I see that this one uses the audio chipset ALC889 (non-a) and seems to have caused issues for a couple people from the searching that I've done but couldn't tell whether they had used Kakewalk or not. I see that version 2.2 says added support to X58A-UD3R but wanted to make sure that it was fully supported /w audio. Tesla69
Hello I have just joined the community and do not know where to start. I have been reading various threads and am overwhelmed with the options, and do not understand and of the programming. IS it possible to just follow some directions and make it work... I hope so. I have a x58a ud3r and a EVGA GTX 260 SC with multiple drives. Windows 7 has been installed on one drive and I would like to keep it as my Main drive as I can only see myself initially using the MAC for a few choosen applications. Do I need to install a bootloader as well so I can choose which OS to boot from, or do I tell the computer to restart from a different drive ? ALso do I need a full version of OSX or can I just purchase a retail version of SL which I don't even know if it is a full OS as I've seen it sell for under forty bucks. In case of tight budget I would go for a fanless GF9400 (73W) or GF8400GS (43W). Keep in mind that all four cards mentioned are not the first choice when it comes to high end gaming. phlox55
Phlox, have you managed to get the middle-click and back and left buttons to work? Mine are giving me no love . Nope, I use "button 4" as F9 (widgets) and "button 5" as F12 (show all windows) instead. Actually it makes sense to use them for those functions. I havent changed middle, it paste's marked things in terminal just as I want it to do.
jdslists
Unfortunately, this is not the case. I have the bios setup properly and I still cannot boot from the thumb drive. Maybe I just have a {censored} usb drive? 9 times out of 10, a hang up at "Verifying DMI pool data" is caused by improper bios settings for hdd boot device - i.e. the first hdd in the list is not a bootable hdd. Reboot, enter bios and set your OS X hdd as the 1st hdd in the drive list. exit and save. This should take care of the problem. When trying to do my setup with the usb drive, I only had the usb drive and an 80gb SSD hooked up. I eventually got the system running using the cd version, but I'm just curious why I couldn't get the usb route to work. Regarding the 1TB file size limit, I have three 2TB drives that I use for Bluray media storage and streaming to multiple WD LIVE media extenders. Do I need to reformat those drives and divde them into two partitions to stay under the 1TB limit? Or is the 1TB limit only applicable to the boot drive? (I haven't plugged those drives in yet to check0 Also if your hard drive is larger than 1 TB it will not boot either. I learned after much frustration partitions must be 1 TB or less in size. You were totally right. Ugh...this made me feel like a real moron! I didn't have the bios setup correctly for the usb keyboard. Once I fixed that issue with the keyboard not working at the bootloader screen went away. However, I tried, what feels like, a million times to boot from the flash drive and it just wouldn't work. I set the flash drive to be top priority but it never worked. Fortunately the CD version did. Any chance it's just a faulty usb drive? I have formatted, restored the Leopard install image and applied the kakewalk app to the drive at least 5 separate times, but it did not work on any occasion. Is there any significant difference between the cd & usb methods? i dont know if you fixed this, i have posted a few times the fix.. i know you said you have all your bios settings right, but you dont, i ran into the same problem a few times, watch this video, and make suer your USB hdd is top priority, and remember when you unplug it and reboot, it loses prioty until you change it again.. video on teh fix You're in the right place siriusly. The guys on this board have been incredibly helpful to me over the last week or so. I would definitely recommend your setup below as it is almost identical to mine and I know it works. The only difference is the video card. I'm using a 1GB 9800 right now because it works out of the box with no issues. I also have a GTX 260 sitting here with me and I'm going to start experimenting with it. Hopefully it works as well as the 9800 from a setup prospective. Follow my posts in this forum and the answers that were given and you should be all set. If your install goes like mine, you probably won't have LAN or audio when you first get up and running. I wound up fixing that with an audio patch that was posted in this forum a few pages back and/or Tonymac's #####. I say and/or because I seriously can't figure out which option fixed it as I had to tinker around multiple times and then all of a sudden...it worked! You may have to play around a little bit, but it won't take you much time at all if you follow this forum. And you won't have to do any serious modifications. Good luck with your build! Pier25
Hi everyone! My kakewalk hackintosh is working extremely well. So well that I decided to add 4Gb more RAM, now having 12Gb in total. The problem is, in the activity monitor the total RAM is 8Gb. In the system profiler I can see the 12Gb, and in the memory tab the 3 dimms appear as ok. So what's the problem here? Any help is appreciated... TIA
Tesla69
I think I'm doing more walking than eating Kake. Is their a forum where the basics can be answered, as it seems ultra noob questions get ignored. Like: 1) I don't have a MAC so how do I make an ISO of my retail Snow Leopard, and then put it onto a USB stick, and then make it bootable using something called MBR I think ( isn't this a OSX feature ). 1b) SOme forums which I have searched... say you need a working OSX environment to do the above step 1.... If I had a working OSX environment aka a PowerMAC I wouldn't be looking at this in the first place... SO obviously I am confused. 2) I downloaded Kakewalk 2.2 but it is a dmg file which is for a MAC so I'm not sure what to do with this as I'm using Windows 7 Lastly I hope I can make a donation but I need to get off the ground first. Yes I'm clueless, I'm a creative - not a computer programmer.
asdfeproiu
Hi everybody, I'm a new poster trying to get my UD5 working. I installed SL 10.6.3 with Kakewalk USB and though I can boot with the Darwin USB loader, I can't get past a boot0: GPT boot0: waiting etc. error by booting off my hard drive (A Seagate SATA drive). I booted up a copy of Parted Magic and ran gParted and noticed that some of my other hard drives had 'boot' flags on them so I removed them, but that didn't work. I also tried reinstalling Chameleon RC4 (using fdisk as well as various installers) and PC EFI (10.5 and 10.6) with no luck. When I try to set my partition as active with fdisk, I'm not sure what partition to set as active within the disk, since it says 'GPT' instead of 'HFS+'. Don't know what a GUID partition table is, or what a Master Boot Record is for that matter, so if I'm doing something wrong there, please enlighten me! On another note, I can't get my EVGA GTS 250 to be fully supported, though after editing com.apple.Boot.plist with gfxutil, this is what I get: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250: Chipset Model: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 Type: GPU Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 512 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x0615 Revision ID: 0x00a2 ROM Revision: 3172a Displays: Display: Resolution: 1280 x 720 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Display Connector: The card still boots into 800x600x32 unless I specify 1280x720 with Graphics Mode in com.apple.Boot.plist - but more importantly, Final Cut thinks I have 0mb VRAM and Avid won't even start. What do you guys think? Any help, either with the boot0 errors or the graphics card, would be greatly appreciated.
dj_scout
Just posted a new update for Kakewalk 2.2. Hopefully this one solves the audio problems with X58A-UD3R, X58A-UD7 and G41M-ES2l. If it doesn't then please be patient and remember that I only have the EP45-UD3LR motherboard myself . Hello mrjanek! After I install kakewalk boot 2.2 on my 10.6.3 system sounds work! Now I just reinstall the system and find some errors: 1. Kakewalk CD 2.2 don't want to boot Mac OS X 10.6 Install DVD (after updating to 10.6.3 too, I use Kakewalk CD 2.0 for it) 2. After all system updates (10.6.3 too) I install kakewalk boot 2.2 and see now sound. I have no detected another problems. Can you fix it in new release of kekawalk? I fix sound using -x -f flags when I boot my system (safe mod), just load and reboot. After it I boot the system without any flags and sound work (get from puru.se blog). And else, my graphic card fully work but in system info I see "UNKNOW NVIDIA CARD". I Have MSI GTS 250 512MB. I Try to write gfx strings but its not work. Did anybody have the same problem? How can I fix it? tnx a lot.
