blipper
I had the problem using double DVI outputs with the 10.6.2 kext. Installing the 10.6.1 kext worked fine that time, but when I last updated I got same issue with the 10.6.3 kext (black screen, second DVI freezes system when inserted). Applying the same 10.6.1 kexts with Kext Utility and rebooting caused the primary screen to go blue and the second to display the message about restarting in numerous languagues. Attached the system disk as an external to my mac mini and replaced the kexts for 10.6.3 ones which again lets me use the primary screen, but gives a black screen when I boot with the second monitor attached, or freezes when I log in using a single display and attach the second one. I'm on an EP45-UD3LR with a G92 8800GT graphics card. Using a single monitor right now, but a fix for this would be awesome. u need to use 10.6.1 kexts: NVDA_1061_kexts.tbz2 more about this read here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=196878
DaeMonS
hmm im on 10.6.2 right now, and dont try 10.6.3...think try later....then we shoud wait for modified kexts for dual displays with dvi and-or hdmi /in my case :9800gt, 1.dvi monitor,2.hdmi tv/ I had the problem using double DVI outputs with the 10.6.2 kext.Installing the 10.6.1 kext worked fine that time, but when I last updated I got same issue with the 10.6.3 kext (black screen, second DVI freezes system when inserted). pepechuelo79
I upgraded from 10.6.2 to 10.6.3. But no sound. As I'm on a EX58-UD5 that has an ALC889a sound chip I suppose it will not be applicable kexts for ALC888, right? So, there is anybody that knows how to fix the lack of sound devices in System Extensions > Sound? Simply, there is no options to output or input sound. No Internal Speakers, no headphones, nada. Thanks in advance. I guess that I solved my problem. Probably I was rude as a butcher but now I have sound devices. This is what I did: I dragged to trash both VooDooHDA.kext (from Backup Extensions folder and from System > Library > Extensions). Also I dragged to trash AppleHDA.kext form System > Library > Extensions. Then I installed with Kext Helper AppleHDA_10.6.3.kext that I downloaded from kexts.com. When it was done I run Kext Utility and then repair permissions with Disk Utility. Reboot. When it opened again I had in System Preferences > Sound > Output: IntSpeakers LineOut LineOut DigitalOut Digidesign HW ( 002 ) <-- this is the interphase for my ProTools. While in System Preferences > Sound > Input: InternalMic LineIn DigitalIn Digidesign HW ( 002 ) I will test the whole system during next days but I guess I've done it. And very important! I have both DVI/HDMI displays connected and running healthy. Thanks to all of you. mrjanek, it would be wonderful if you could update your great Kakewalk method to a straight and easy 10.6.3 upgrade for the same long mobo list. Thank you again. tag1
So I am planning on building on new hackintosh with the following specs and wanted to see if everything will work. This is my first time building a computer so I am a little nervous about dropping so much money but this seems like a cool and well worth it project. This computer will mostly be used for processing and regular use (not games) and I am trying to find the cheapest compatible video card...any suggestions the this or any other parts? I have used Cindori as my model. My proposed specs are (all prices from google product search): i7 920 - 2.66ghz - $230 ATI Radeon 4890 -$231 Gigabyte EX58-UD5 - $226 1TB Seagate Barracuda - $80 Corsair TX650W Power supply - 650 Watt -$94 Corsair Dominator 6 GB : 3 x 2 GB Memory - DIMM 240-pin - 1600 MHz - $230 Samsung 22x DVD RW - $25 Sony MRW620/U1/181 Card reader (internal) - $11 And finally I am looking for a good (but cheap) case to put all this stuff in. I am not planning on overclocking, so I imagine that any fans that came with the case would be enough, but I dont know if I need to buy more. I also don't know anything about power supply and if 650w is enough. Is there anything else that I should get? I am hoping to keep it around $1200 (after shipping if possible). Thanks guys! If you don't plan on OCing then save the money on the motherboard and get the EX58A-UD3R, you can also save some money on the memory with a less expensive kit. You can get a set of G.Skill or Corsair 1600 for around $170. I'd take the saved money and get a 30gb or 40gb SSD drive for your boot drive I'd also suggest looking at getting everything from www.newegg.com I've spent tens of thousands with them over the last 10 years and never had a single issue with returns or exchanges. They are great to deal with and have the best prices around.

donjave
hey man, thanks a lot, i did register with that site that you have said, however i want to know if the kakewalk Gigabyte EP45-Ud3r boot cd method works perfectly with everything working? as i want to use this for sound engineering i want to get sound working completly and the machine should be stable. as i can lose a lot of data if this crashes Hey man, I would take a look at the guides along with the ##### software on tonymac's site.http://www.tonymacx86.com Lots of great post os/x install fixes using the ##### tool related to sound cards and video. nikjenikje
Hi there, I just managed to update my Hackintosh to 10.6.3 without deleting SleepEneabler.kext on forehand. The result is that I can't boot OS X, just getting KernelPanic no matter what I try to do.. I have tried to boot with "-x", "-s" and even "-x32 -v -x -f" without success.. MB: Gigabyte EX58-UD5 CPU: Intel i7 920 Does anybody know what I need to do to fix it? Thanks in advance! Yea hi. What install method did you use? If I'm correct, you could try the following: 1. Boot the Kakewalk install CD or USB drive (this works for USB, don't know for CD but I guess it should) 2. Wait until you get the grey menu at the top and go to utilities->disk utility 3. Find your broken OSX partition and remember it's exact name. 4. Right click that partition then click "Information". (Make sure you right click the partition and not the drive itself.) Next to "Disk Identifier" it should say something like disk0s2. Write this down. 5. Again from the grey top menu, go to utilities->terminal 6. Type the following: (replace YourPartition with the exact name of your partition) rm -R /Volumes/YourPartition/System/Library/Extensions/SleepEnabler.kext If that doesn't work, try this (replace disk0s2 with the one you wrote down and YourPartition with the exact name of your partition. It's no problem if either one of the first two commands doesn't work.): umount /Volumes/YourPartition diskutil unmount /Volumes/YourPartition mount -uw /dev/disk0s0 /Volumes/OSX rm -R /Volumes/OSX/System/Library/Extensions/SleepEnabler.kext 7. Reboot and you should be done.. REMEMBER: If your partition name has a space in it, type it as "\ " For example, /Volumes/My Mac should be /Volumes/My\ Mac Let me know if this works. Sorry if I don't reply fast, I'm studying for my exams this week.. Ofcourse, you could also just use an Ubuntu boot CD, boot into Linux from CD and delete the kext on your hdd from Linux... Nik.
