Is there any support for the H55M-UD2H board? I've scoured this site for hours, someone in this thread (trwoolley) said it was, but he was mistaken for the P55M-UD2H board. Think I could get it to work if I tried using that as my selection? I know they're different chipsets.

Also, I've found someone who posted a YouTube video of saying it worked, but no instructions or directions or anything.

I have a Gigabyte H55M-UD2H board, Core i5 750, Nvidia GT220, 4GB RAM, and 500GB Hard Drive. I'm this close to PayPaling someone who can assist me in just finding how to start! I'm going to dual boot this with a Windows 7 drive (Mac OS on one, Windows 7 on the other). I have a retail Snow Leopard DVD (bought for my Macs, so 10.6.0) that I'll be using.

If anyone can assist, I'd appreciate GREATLY!

' Thank you so much!!!!--my ga-ex58-ud3r has been a breeze to set up as a dual boot Win7/Snow Leopard drive. (Definitely deserve a paypal from me--you saved me tons of time)

But I have one question I can't seem to get answered in this forum--the boot loader's 3 second screen to choose is way too fast.

Can someone tell me how to change it? I know the Darwin loader uses:

/library/preferences/systemconfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plis

Changing the time out there isn't doing a thing---exactly where and how are options changed for the Kakewalk aserebln bootloader?

Double click the HD icon and you should see an Extra folder. Insider will be a com.apple.boot.plist. This is the plist that is being used. Make a copy and paste in a convenient spot. Open with TextEditor and change the timeout to your desired number. Save, then copy and paste back into Extra folder. You will be asked for the password and to OK replacing the existing file.

You can try the P55M - it should work. Be sure the upgrade to 10.6.2 (download udate from Apple before starting the install) prior to attempting to boot into the new install (i5 and i7 is not supported until 10.6.2).

Should that not work go the Tonymacxs blog and download his BootCD. Boot with that CD and use a bootflag of "busratio=22" (without the quotes) when you exchange the OSXInstall DVD for the bootCD. After install boot from the BootCD (using the busratio flag), do the initial setup and update to 10.6.2. Now you should be able to boot from the OSX HD.

I did not have audio until I updated to 10.6.2. No complications from updating, go right ahead and update =)

I also notice that even though the standby settings are set, it did not standby. It did, though, however, standby when I told it to through the apple menu. Apart from that, everything looks good, QE/CI working fine from what I see. Anyone know if Mac OSX supports CUDA HD playback through drivers or through an application? I'd like to test to see if that's working properly.

So as per your advice, I installed the 10.6.2 combo update and now when my system boots I get the grey screen thing that says I need to restart my pc... Please could someone help?

Try switching between the ports on your graphics card.

i gave this a shot but still no luck

edited the DSDT file to your specifications and got no errors

replaced both the KEXTS and then ran kext utility

then updated to 10.6.2 and ran again and still no luck

could you post your dsdt file so we could give that a shot?

also my motherboard has 2 cables that can be connected for audio one is labeled HD Audio and the other Realtek AC'97 which one should be plugged into the motherboard for the sound to work?

thanks a bunch in advance, paulo

Not sure if it matters or not but I had already updated to 10.6.2 before messing with my audio, I had a friend try this on his X58A-UD5 board and that got his audio working also just fyi. I don't recall which cable I used on the MB for audio but I think it was the HD one.

hello

i guess your studies are important too :( good luck with that.

i had couple of questions about future stuff for kakewalk, if you have any idea what the next steps will be.

Seems like kakewalk is going to be like universal installer for many people, and you have many boards supported already. In the P45 séries you almost have them all except the EP45-UD3. I was wondering if you could have an installer, so the whole EP45 family is complete :D

are you going to make packages for the P55 séries ? like the GA-P55-UD3, GA-P55-UD3L, GA-P55-UD3R, GA-P55-UD4, GA-P55-UD5 ect…..

thanks you very much for any future version of kakewalk ! :)

Just purchased parts for a Hack attempt and I'm stuck, not able to boot into the 10.6 installer. Here are my parts:

EP43-UD3L

e3200

Asus 8400gs

320g Sata drive

LG optical

2gigs crucial ram

500w PS

I used the Lifehacker guide with the Snow Leopard guide.

1. Created an Image of the 10.6 DVD

2. Restored it to a 8gig SanDisk flash drive

3. Ran the Kakewalk installer and selected the EP45-UD3L (figure it's compatible to the EP43)

4. Set bios accordingly

5. Plugged in Flash USB drive and started up and "Verifying DMI Pool Data ..... Update Success" is as far as I can get.

I've read every post possible online but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. This guide makes it seem pretty straight forward. Any assistance appreciated.

I'have the same mobo + gfx card combo and it worked oob using the usb method.

I'd try unplugging the LG optical, let us know if that helped getting to boot further.

Thanks for the reply, I eventually just went and ran with tonymacx86's ##### + ##### installation method and lo-and-behold it works. Typing from it now. I used ##### + -x because it kept crashing, installed Snow Leopard to my 500GB SATA drive, restarted and booted into OS X with -x again, installed the 10.6.2 Combo Update and then used ##### to install the additional software/extensions needed for my board + hardware. Works amazing, I have a 24" 2.8GHz C2D iMac for work and this thing just screams past it. Specs are GA-H55M-UD2H, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GT220, 500GB WD Caviar Green SATA, so people who may find this via Google someday will know that it's not too difficult.

Jayles:

If you are using an nVidia video card try using an EFI string in the com.apple.boot.plist in the Extra folder. do not use the GraphicEnabler key or any type on NVenabler when using the EFI string as the various methods interfer with each other.

Hi,

I'm installing 10.6.0 retail on to my EP45-DS3L, and I'm getting a kernel panic shortly into the install process. I'm not sure if there's any way to view debugging information about the KP, so I have absolutely no idea what's causing it. I'm installing from a 16gb USB flash drive.

Some things to know about my install:

 • Using a vanilla SL disc + Kakewalk installed on to a USB flash drive
 • Graphics card is Radeon HD4870 (512mb variant); graphics in the installer is running at full 1920x1200
 • Kernel panic only happens after installation starts, I can fiddle with anything for pretty much as long as I like but a few seconds after starting installation, it dies.
 • I'm installing on to an IDE drive. I have plenty of SATA drives plugged in as well, but none of them are suitable for OS X since they're used for file storage. Not sure if it's relevant, but I've also got a DVD drive connected to the same IDE port (slave). This never caused a problem with 10.5.
 • Dual booted with Windows 7 64-bit; this OS runs perfectly fine so there shouldn't be any hardware faults (like RAM problems).
 • Mac OS X 10.5 worked relatively well (was known to kernel panic when the CPU was put under stress though)

I'm thinking of trying to install just straight from the DVD. Any one encountered this before? I quickly skimmed the thread but most people seem to have no trouble getting past the install phase.

Is there an eassy way to do so, tutorials or tools? i have no experience with efi strings what so ever.

You see, this goes in stages:

- Before Mac was lit when loading the desktop turned blue, giving the button "switch" could be seen then the desktop, but now ...

- First phase: when switching on the Mac I load ok but when load "desktop" screen stays blue and I do not load the desktop, but remotely from another PC I can see the desktop

I looked to see that the Internet could be and saw that he had to do a reset VNRAM, try to do as they say but not under anything

- Second phase: when the screen turns blue, it turns black and all I can see is the cursor (if I get the Mac remotely, as before, I can see the desktop from another machine and all perfect)

- Third phase is restarted just now and if you start with the screen off when you start telling me that there is no video input

Solutions?

Fantastic! easy as pie!

Installed OSX using Kakewalk CD method last night on my new build X58A-UD5 and everything seems to be working fine. I selected the X58A-UD7 as my motherboard during the install.

I have 2x HD4870 installed but OSX is only recognizing one of the cards. What do I need to do to enable the second video card?

Also are there any fan control utilities that will work? my CPU HS fan is too loud when on 100%!

Please could someone help me with the last problem I have.

I used this method of install on an ep45-ds3r by selecting ep45-ds3l which was the closest choice.

This left me with no audio or ps2 mouse/keyboard and no usb after sleep.

I made my own dsdt with all the patches but nothing changed.

I then found some files for the ep45-ds3r on an Italian website and used that dsdt, smbios and com.apple.

and a whole load of kexts.

I now have sound, ps2keyboard/mouse and usb wakeup from sleep,

But, now I have very slow restart and no shut down.

If I could fix that I think I would be 100% there.

Mike

Try and use your kakewalk cd and use it to load Mac OSX, and if you can boot in, reinstall kakewalk when you make it to the OSX environment. That should clear things up =)

I'm having a problem with the resolution when the computer is booting up

Actual OSX works just fine but when it boots up the image is smaller than the screen by a few pixels

i noticed when clicking video info there was no 1920x1080 resolution (my native resolution)

what's the best workaround for this?

using the EP43-UD3L with great success, follow the process and choose the EP43-UD3L boot loader and you are good to go, see my sig and site for more info..
