I've just uploaded a new version of Kakewalk.

It should resolve the issues with G41M-ES2L (hopefully)

I have not tried your Kakewalk for the G41M again yet however I was curious as for the dsdt you have?

I have mine fully fixed for native sleep and speedstep as well as other fixes, I just did not do video injection as I let Chameleon do that I have attached here in the event you would like to look at it or use it in your package.

When i'm running windows my cpu is 37° (Celsious) when idle and 60° playing full screen Call Of Duty

When i'm running OSX my CPU is 55° IDLE ! and is 80 ° on full load (Rendering 1080p film)

WHY IS HACKINTOSH RUNNING SO HOT ?

Ok perhaps someone can help with my new problem.

I've used the X58A-UD7 install method via USB. Works great, only audio doesn't work and I really didn't expect it too before updating (given the other responses on this thread). SL installs, everything works (except audio), I install the update, and all of a sudden I'm only booting in Safeboot. I tried installing the latest Kakeboot on top of that and I get a screen which tells me a I have restart as soon as I boot into OSX (aka. a never ending loop of restarts.

Any ideas would be much appreciated, I'm installing on to a X58A-UD3R.

Cheers,

James

X58A-UD3R

Audio - ALC889

Ethernet - 8111D

Slot (from CPU side, Physical) - PCIe x1, x1, x16, x16, x16, PCI, x16)

EX58-UD3R

Audio - ALC888

Ethernet - 8111C

Slot (from CPU side, Physical) - PCIe x1, x1, x16, x4, x16, PCI, PCI)

X58A-UD5

Audio - ALC889

Ethernet - 8111D x 2

Slot (from CPU side, Physical) - PCIe x1, x1, x16, x16, x16, PCI, x16)

From the config of those boards, X58A-UD3R & EX58-UD3R using difference chipset for ethernet & audio and the layout is quite different. That's why when you use boot CD for EX58-UD3R for X58A-UD3R, you can not get them work.

X58A-UD3R & X58A-UD5 use the same chipset for ethernet & audio (only difference is that UD5 have 2 ethernet ports) and the layout of slot is the same.

So I think you can try boot CD for X58A-UD5 for your X58A-UD3R.

----

FYI, I also use boot CD for EX58-UD5 for my EX58-UD4P (not with 10.6.2) that is not in the compatible list. These 2 boards also use the same chipset for etherent & ausioand the difference also is the number of ethernet port.

ive seen several different install methods for snow and im trying to figure out which one will work for me. im looking to possibly get a vanilla install...any help or links in the right direction would be most appreciated. im not new to osx or the terminal or osx86 for that matter but there seems to be alot of specialization/customization (way past what a distro can handle) thats required with all the different hardware out there...thx and sorry if im hijacking...

specs

i7 920

Foxconn bloodrage (NB x58, SB ICH10R)

SONAR X-Fi ( Realtek ALC889)

Dual Evga Gtx 280 in sli (seems these will work just fine with gfx strings)

3gb ddr3 1600

128gb ssd

Hi,

I am unable to get SL to install using the USB method.

My system is:

Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2

Intel Core i5 750

4 Gb DDR3

Nvidia 9800GTX+

I have SL imaged to a 20 Gb USB HD with the proper install fix for my mb. When it tries to boot from the install drive I get past the starting Darwin then the computer just restarts and keeps doing this over and over. I have followed all the instructions written except I used a USB HD instead of a thumb drive. What could be the problem? I tried the -v method to see any errors but can't see the results. The computer restarts to quick. I am using 10.5.6 on an older machine presently.

I have also tried to use the CD method but have not been able to get that running either. Very frustrating. Any ideas? Do I need to provide you more info?

Thanks

Got everything working fine on my EP45-UD3P v1.6 :) - thank you !!

I am booting OS X using the JMicron controller in AHCI mode and everything is great.

I have a minor issue however; my ICH10R is configured in raid and since the hard disks connected to that controller are in a raid array, each time OSX boots it tries to read it but fails and asks to initialize/ignore/eject each drive.

I always hit ignore but pressing the wrong option could be fatal. How can I disable specific drives from OSX? I don't want the OS to try to auto-mount them. Since my dvd drive is also on the ich10r controller, I do not want to disable the controller itself.

Thanks!

Hi,

...

blog,

You are not alone, I am also a P55M-UD2 user that facing the same reboot problem.

In addition, i don't think 10.6 install image on USB is the problem cause I used the original 10.6 install disc and SATA DVD drive also got the same result.

Even in v2.0, it said the problem on P55M-UD2 was fixed but I just got the same result.

As far as I know, no user in the forum reported that kakewalk CD solution work for their P55M-UD2 (Please correct me if I am wrong), we are all facing the same reboot problem.

If you don't want to wait a new version of kakewalk that can fix the problem, you can try the boot CD solution in http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=401 for P55 MB.

(For P55M-UD2, please select "Display:NVenabler", "Network:R1000" & "Audio:realtek888b" in ##### in Steps 7, 10 & 12)

I am now using it, it is quite simple to use like kakewalk (just run a problem called MultBeast in the boot CD, no terminal work is needed) and you can easily get a 10.6.2 running on P55M-UD2 in less than an hour.

Hey,

I've got a ga-ex58-ud5 and a quad 2.66 i7 920. But it seems that my asus 4870 512mb won't work with kakewalk.

I tried the usb boot and got into the bootloader but when it boots to the installer it gets stuck at some point. I've made some screenshots of the verbose mode.

http://de.tinypic.com/r/2ppx1tc/6

http://de.tinypic.com/r/2vi0bh5/6

My screen makes some very strange graphic problems, (i guess) right before the installer screen appears. ( many broken lines on the screen).

Did you experience anything similar? Do you have an idea what it could be?

I've seen that in the optional installer of kakewalk theres a file for ATI, should this be installed on the usb stick?

thx for your help!

Someone told me I should start with "-x", so if someone has the same problem try this... i'll try it tonight and report back if it works.

If anyone has another idea what it could be, I would be thankful.

Yes, tsponge.

I have dual screens with Geforce GTX 260. Working at 2048 X 1152 @60Hz both monitors. Connected a DVI to HDMI adapter in DVI sockets in GTX 260 card. There a HDMI cable of 15 meters (around 45 feets) feed the signal to two Dell 23" monitors.

I started with a Nvidia 9500 and moved to GTX 260. That Nvidia 9500 I had only one socket DVI and one socket VGA. As I needed two DVI sockets I purchased the GTX 260 that had two. It was just a plug and play. I have done nothing to make it work.

Thanks CooSee,

I've followed your suggestions, downloaded that kext, moved to /Extra/Extensions folder and run Kext Utility.

Everything was OK, but the temp shows the same figures.

After a cold night I started my hackintosh. At the very first action I could do I opened iStat Pro. It showed that the temps of both cores is 47 Celcius degrees.

I'm confused about that because it is rare that such temp is reached so quick. That fact gives me the impression that it is only a cosmetic error. I mean, "iStat Pro says that CPU temps is 10 higher that real temp".

But on the other hand, I have changed the CPU cooler from the original Intel to a wonderful Thermantake plenty of fins and with a huge silence fan. When I removed the original cooler I could see that thermal grease on the i7 was cooked. Meaning that there were some hi temp there.

So that means that it is not a cosmetic problem. It is real. There is 10 Celcius degrees in excess.

What do you think, CooSee?

that's strange :)

my Setting are all " AUTO "

In MacOS kernels prior to 10.6.2 did not recognize the i5 CPU. If your Install DVD from which you made the USB image is 10.6.0 or 10.6.1 then when you try to start with that kernel, the machine will reboot. If it is 10.6.2 the install will proceed as normal.

To get past this problem one needs a bootloader which uses a modified kernel. tonymacx's BootCD (and others) will allow you to boot and install from your present USB image (you also need a boot flag of: busratio=20). You can install 10.6.0 using the BootCD and boot flag, once you upgrade to 10.6.2 the machine will boot requiring only a 'normal' bootloader.

Apparently there are versions of the Retail DVD that are 10.6.2 because some are able to get started without a modified kernel (ie use Kakewalk). Others get the 'reboot loop'.I assume the latter group have a 10.6.0 DVD like the one I have.

Hi,

I installed the x58a-ud7 version on my x58a-ud3r. Everything works great after the 10.6.2 update which fixed my lack of audio. What I am wondering if someone can help me fix my boot resolution to get my full 1920 x 1200. I tried all the methods on here and other places and no luck. My Card is a HIS 4870 1GB which was recognized right of the first boot. Is there a file i can download or is there something else i need to edit besides the file in the System Configuration folder because that didnt work. I hate the way te low res boot screen looks.

Thanks

In "PC Health Status" > "CPU Smart Fan Control" I have "Enabled"

And in "CPU Smart Mode" I have "Auto".

So it look as the way you have.

But my temp is 45 Celcius in this moment.

I don't know why.

Jus wondering what osx version do you have, 10.6.0 or 10.6.2. las one is the one giving problems on dual screens. Till 10.6.1 you can update with no probs.
