sangeth
I don't know if this question has already been answered but for those of us who installed SL using the original package (well before it was Kakewalk) what would be the best way to get our 10.6.1 system up-to-date without having to do a clean reinstall? Looks like the installation has been getting better and easier. Props to mrjanek for all the hard work! johnaldo
I can try it if you need further testing. I'll have to put my 4850 back in. Not a problem. I don't have a supported board, using a X58A-UD3R I've generated an ISO for you. You'll find it here.Hopefully this works out for you! bobross
Anyone with a ATI 4850 card willing to do a fresh install of Snow Leopard?Need someone to try out the solution for the ATI 4xxx series. Don't have a 4xxx but I can't get my ATI Radeon X1950 Pro to work for the life of me under SL. Let me know if you need anything done to help out with that series card. fusionz
I have the F6 Bios if that makes a difference. I have the p55m-ud2 mostly working with kakewalk. I had to place my drive in a working mac and install 10.6 then update to 10.6.2. From there I installed kakewalk 1.8.1 (latest as of 2/11/10) and placed the drive back in my p55m-ud2. Entropism
If the search worked on this forum, I probably wouldn't have to ask this, so I apologize in advance: I currently have everything set up near perfectly, with a P45-UD3P and an 8800GT. If I swapped my graphics card to an ATI 5770, A) would it work at all, and would I have to completely reformat and reinstall OSX, or is there a driver package I could install? I wouldn't mind terribly if I was forced to reformat, however I do want to make sure the card is compatible first. rabbit74
Any way to know if my DSDT.aml is capable of runing in 3 Channel mode? I have DDR3 1333Mhz RAM running in 3 Channel mode acording to the hardware and BiOS setup but I have run exaustive tests between 3 Channel mode and forced 2 channel mode and have found absolutely no performance increase. Any insight is apreciated. BTW the new cakewalk setup installs sound, network, and enables boot staight away. it truly is a cakewalk. Cudos. Kunal2139
Hi all, having an issue with graphics on my EP45-UD3L BIOS F7. I have a Palit 9500 GT 1 GB DDR2 with VGA, DVI, and HDMI outputs. When connected with VGA, after the grey screen with the Apple logo, the screen just goes blue. If I tap the power button, my desktop shows up. But I can't change the resolution. Basically, VGA output just doesn't work. DVI works. HDMI works. But even using a DVI to VGA adapter is not working. I was needing VGA to connect it to an HDTV. Has anyone figured out a fix for this? I tried installing NVEnabler64.kext to no avail. It seems like a lot of you had a similar issue, but I couldn't find a mention of a fix. Anyone got it working? EDIT: Problem FIXED!!! I had to add 2 more kexts to /Extra/Extensions than the Kakewalk installer provided. Disabler & NVEnabler64. I also replaced my dsdt.aml in /Extra with a more customized one. Then ran Kext Utility. Rebooted, and BAM! All video outputs working. VGA, HDMI, DVI. Attached to this post are all the files needed to fix your problem. Hope this helps anyone having this issue! EDIT #2: You do not need the Disabler kext. Just replace your dsdt.aml with the attached one and add NVEnabler kext. trwoolley
this is my power management Meatwagon, After much research, I have finally confirmed that AppleLPC.kext is not patched in DSDT for my mobo EX58-UD5 but it must be in yours since you have "Start up automatically after a power failure" in your Energy Saver options while I do not. Neither does AppleLPC.kext show up in System Profiler extensions or in terminal with "kextstat | grep LPC" for my board. AppleLPC.kext must be patched in DSDT according to this excellent tutorial last November by Asere here: http://www.efixusers.com/showthread.php?t=533 "LPC stands for Low Pin Count and this device is part of the southbridge. For some reason this driver must be loaded to have fully working SpeedStep with AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement. LPD device address in the DSDT is 0x1f0000. The device name in all Gigabyte DSDT is PX40." This may account for why my i7 920 idle temp is 41°C-45°C - I am not sure. "The PCI Dev-Id of the LPC device is 0x3a18 for the ICH10 southbridge and 0x3a16 for the ICH10R. The driver is AppleLPC.kext. You can find them in /System/Library/Extensions. The problem is that AppleLPC does not load if you have an ICH10R southbridge, because it has no entry for the ICH10R Dev-Id in IONameMatch (see Info.plist in AppleLPC.kext). This can be fixed by patching the AppleLPC.kext itself or by patching the DSDT like this ...." The Gigabyte EX58-UD5 does have an ICH10R southbridge. Your EP45 southbridge is ICH10, not ICH10R. Can you confirm in your System Profile extensions list or in terminal that your AppleLPC.kext is enabled for your GA-EP45-UD3L? If so, mrjanek has for reasons I am unaware of chosen not to enable it for my board, or because he does not have access to the EX58 boards and is unable to code DSDT for it. I would do it myself, but I am not DSDT savvy and would probably mess it up horribly. Thanks for any info you might be able to provide.
