santitf
same here, USB events behind a hub are not always recognised. I had to try a few combinations, mouse and keyboard off the same hub seemed to work but off my monitor USB hub didn't, I think it's just going to be a matter of getting a USB extension cable if it doesn't work! Thanks. I put my mouse (logitech) in a usb port (not in the apple keyboard). However, twice in this morning, keyboard and mouse not function until i unplug and plug again. Since i don't plug the mouse in the apple keyboard, only keyboard still has with this problem.

osxdude
hey guys: I downloaded and installed SL on my Gigabyte EP45-UD3P following the guide and all went smooth. I can even upgrade to 10.6.2. My graphic card is EVGA 8800GT and it works at the right resolution and acceleration right after installation. However, the system freezed randomly and render it unusable. When it is working, it works perfectly, but when it freezes, the keyboard and mouse pointer just stop working all together and the only way to resolve it is to reboot the system. There is no pattern for this freezing problem and it just happen randomly, sometimes few mins, and sometimes 4-5 hrs. Also it is not related to any program that I am running cause it even happens when I am not running anything. It could also happen when I am copying a file or when I close a program window. I checked the system log and I did not find any thing that are the possible causes. Does any one have the same issue as I do ? Please share your experience. Since i don't plug the mouse in the apple keyboard, only keyboard still has with this problem. OS X can do some funny things with third party USB devices. I think that this a general apple issue, anyone know if there is any reason that this may specifically affect hackintoshes or Gigabyte Boards? To be honest, I think we may be getting a little off topic for this thread, may be an idea to start a new thread. Nevertheless, I can only offer some advice that I have found useful for debugging on my other hackintoshes. 1) keep the most important devices on the first USB ports 2) don't mix device types on hubs if you can avoid it (especially powered/unpowered devices) 3) try installing logitech drivers (if there are any for your hardware) 4) turn "off" legacy support for USB devices in the bios (sometimes causes sleep problems)
johnaldo
What do you think about support for the X58A-UD3R motherboard? Possible? I had to use a different board selection in the installer and hack around with sound (voodoohda) a bit to get sound working. Thanks a lot I'm working on a solution for the ATI 4xxx series and it should be done quite soon.

neoapple
Like some others on this thread, my system reboots when attempting to install on a P55M-UD2. Please, anyone with some insight as to why some of us can not install SL on identital hardware... I have checked all over this thread and the tonymacx86 blog. No tweaking of BIOS or flashing different BIOS versions is helping. My components: Gigabyte P55M-UD2 (rev. 1.0) / i7 860 / 4GB Cosair DDR3 1600mhz (2x2GB) / WD SATA 1 TB / XFX 9400 GT 1GB. The clock is ticking and I will most likely have to return my equipment at a loss... Plus a sense of defeat.

osxdude
Hi. Try to unplug and plug again the keyboard and the mouse. Tell us if this fix it. since it happens randomly, I have not able to find a way to trigger it and test the unplugging usb mouse solution. I will report back when my hackingtosh freeze again. Thanks for the suggesting.
mm67
Hi. Finally i find the solution. I put awake with mouse from bios. But the system no awake.I have an aluminium apple keyboard and the mouse connected to it. If i connect the mouse in a usb port from the motherboard, the system awake perfect.... Any suggestions? Thanks Edit: Thanks armacell!!! You need to fix EHCI devices in dsdt if you want to use a device that is connected to a USB2.0 hub for wake up. On Gigabyte P55 and X58 boards that problem should already be fixed.
neoapple
I managed to install using tonymacx86 method. It works OK. But Kakewalk just reboots after 3seconds. Which tonymacx86 method did you use; USB or Boot CD? I'm starting from scratch tonight and double checking each step to make sure I some how am not overlooking something. Also, what do you mean by OK? I don't mind fight the damn thing to get SL installed but, post install is everything functioning correctly? Thanks for any help. I've never had this much of a pain installing osx before.
Shiwa116
same here... I am going to try the Tonymac install as well.. Hopefully tonight if the kids play along, otherwise this weekend. My first try will be the CD method as there is apparently a boot cd especially for the p55m-ud2. Maybe one should consider to remove this board as supported by KAKEWALK? Cheers,

robbiet480
Hi, Thanks for Kakewalk. I've used it now twice successfully on GA-EP45T-DS3R (friends) and now my new board a GA-EP45-UD3P. However I am having one issue with the UD3P. At boot, I get a "Unable to find SMBIOS table" error in Chameleon. Upon logging in and trying to click About this Mac, it crashes loginwindow and I have to login again. I had this working last night after the change of kexts (I upgraded from a EP45-DS3L to UD3P and wiped out all its kexts from /Extra). I know this is related to SMBIOS and have manually included it in com.apple.Boot.plist (SMBIOS=/Extra/smbios.plist). It is recognizing it because it shows the computer as being a MacPro3,1 but still I have this About this Mac issue. Also during bootup in -v I have a issue with Firewire. A message repeats every few seconds saying "Firewire GUID 00000000000 is invalid!". Wondering if maybe this is due to the RealtekR1000SL.kext in /S/L/E. Please help! slataper
Hi guys! I tried to install for three time the snow on the hardware in my sign but I had some problems, the first time the installer stopped after about 20 minutes after installling work and I had to shot down, the after two times as one before installer stopped and appared on the screen an instruction who said me: “you need to restart your computer. Hold down the power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again”. Before installing I made the setting of the bios in the guide (I turned on the pc, I worked on the bios when I saved I closed the dvd with the boot and he starte automatically) and I used a store snow dvd that a friend of mine used... I don't know, where is the problem? Thanks for you helping... Ciao! p.s. the boot isn't the last one whom mrjanek puted, but I think about a week ago...but I this in not the problem. froalskiner
Hi, I'm trying to install using the Tony Mac CD method but the SL installer stops towards the beginning of the install P55m-UD2 i5 750 4gb G.Skill Ripjaw 1600 RAM eVGA 9800GT retail SL DVD I can get into the SL installer and start the actual install but it stops after a few minutes. The error log shows that it can't access the essentials package. I've gone through the bios and made sure AHCI was set in both places along with HPET 64-bit. I have a 1TB drive that I've tried to install using a smaller partition as well as the entire partition. I've also tried switching my SATA connections from the GSATA to the regular SATA ports on the Mobo. Another post from a year ago showed a few other people with the same problem but nobody was able to assist. One person had overclocked RAM but my motherboard drops the clockspeed down to 1333 automatically. I haven't made any other changes to the BIOS besides loading optimal settings as well as the AHCI and 64 bit settings. Can anybody assist? I'm completely stuck... S3Atze
Hi! i just got my new GA-X58A-UD7 setup successfully booted with your latest install package (1.8.1) on a USB-stick, although it is not on your list (i know the GA-EX58-UD7 is on the list, which is almost the same...). Maybe i could help you in some way to get this board on your list. Nice work! it´s so easy - no one needs EFI-X!

borissatan
Hey guys I tried the windows legacy iso install method and it boots a little way and then stops after saying "mounted". It doesn't invite me to then install SL. I've tried putting in the SL disk but the computer is basically stalled at this point. I don't have access to a mac at home - is this my only option. Any help greatly appreciated. I've tried so many methods including the DD and Kalyway installations also. This looked ideal but i can't even get past the first stage. I think I'm nearing breaking point..
