trwoolley
I'm thinking of adding support for motherboards not made by Gigabyte. MSI, ASUS and some other popular brands. The thing is, this whole project would need a different name. I'm not so good with names (hence the current uninspired name). So, anyone have any ideas of what it should be called? MoBoBoot MaMaJaM DuckSoup EZ-X YellowBrickRoad Load Simple
maccompaq
Mrjanek or anyone: First, I tried the CD boot method, and I got to the Apple logo with the spinning disk which quit after 30 seconds leaving a gray screen. Then I used a Cruzer 8 GB USB thumb drive. I set it up as a GUID partition, using Leopard, and loaded the Snow Leopard dmg on the USB drive per instructions. Installed the bootloader also. The results were the same as above. I bought another brand of thumb drive that also gave the same results as the CD method. To experiment, I removed a HD from one of my other Hackintosh computers & installed it in my Core i7. To my surprise, it booted with Leopard 10.5.2. My other two Hackintosh computers have hard drives formatted as MBR, and they perform well with Leopard and Windows XP Professional. All of my hard drives and optical drives are SATA. Anyway, I need a little advice getting my Core i7 running with Snow Leopard. It runs fine with Windows XP Professional. I thank you all for your help. Please, Mrjaneck, add netbook MSI Wind U-100 I know that Intel Atom 270 has its own problems with Snow Leopard. But ... may be, you can solve it. Thanks in advance. sasybot
Hi, I was wondering if I'm able to use my IDE DVD-RW Pioneer 112D after I've installed SL via this method? Also will my GTX260 work properly? Or do I need to do some editing of kext and EFI strings?
Meatwagon
+1 great name! I see alot of people derailing this thread asking questions that dont have anything to do with these MOBO's . Mr.Janek maybe you can edit your OP with a small FAQ.. A lot of poeple dont realise that this is a vanilla load of SnLeo, so if a 250xx card works with one setup it should work with every other.. its like asking if a 9800gtx works with windows 7 basic and premium. If someone wants support for a video card, check out the forum here or use the google search.. If someone wants support for Wlan check out the forum Here Audio should work on all these boards so , its fine. Also people asking if this method works on an XXXX-XXX board, should just take the time and try it on a hard drive.. simply unplugg all drives, put in a blank 15gig drive and install it on that drive and see it works, If its a board that is listed on this tutorial, then it should have full support. Thanks, but I've found that my DVD drive and graphics card should work after seeing another member post his results in this thread. Just another quick question, I've got a hard drive with two partitions. One has XP and the other has Windows 7, I'm about to delete the Windows 7 partition and install Snow Leopard on it. Does anyone know if I'll have any boot problems after Snow Leopard is installed? Will OSX overwrite the original boot record? I'm just afraid I might corrupt the MBR and lose my XP partition. What should I be expecting?

I know that not everyone can afford a new HD, but a lot of people have had problems with dual booting off one drive, my suggestion is just buy another sata drive, 250gb used can go for $25... then you shouldnt have any issues. posting that you video card does work is fine, but asking before researching should be done 1st.. glad your setup is running! manse
Hi, 1st post, just wanted to thank MrJanek on a very professional and foolproof installation guide. I used the CD method and everything works flawlessly.. Never used a mac before so its going to be fun getting to grips with Snow Leopard. My spec is as follows: SL 10.6.2 GA-EP45-UD3LR Core2Quad Q9550 2x 2GB Corsair DDR2 Gainward 9500GT, 1GB One question, any known issues with upgrading the Gigabyte firmware to latest? mrjanek
One question, any known issues with upgrading the Gigabyte firmware to latest? I updated to F10 a couple of days ago. So far no issues at all, as stable as before. It also cut my boot-time with a few seconds.

maccompaq
Mrjanek, I finally got Snow Leopard loaded on the Core i7 using the thumb drive, but only after booting in SAFE Mode. There is only one screen resolution, 1024 x 768. Sound does not work, USB works somewhat, but not satisfactorily. I expected all this running in SAFE Mode. I did not test Firewire. To my surprise, LAN works. I expected everything to work as expected upon rebooting, but no such luck. If I let it boot by itself, it shows the Apple logo, then the spinning disk, and then a blank gray screen. In order to get into Snow Leopard, I have to boot in SAFE Mode. Any ideas? It's probably your graphics card. The ATI 48xx series requires some extra tinkering. Here's some more info how to solve this. It will work perfectly well without any hacking around. Just plug and play. I have that Graphic Card and get 2048 X 1152 in two displays via DVI --> HDMI cable. mikedddd
Non-gigabyte board request/suggestion Hey there, I've been up and running with my EP45-UD3R using your system for quite a while, rock stable. I have a problem with a board I've tried several installs on and been unsuccessful with. Is there a way you could add support for it? Its a P55 based board. I hadn't realized your system would work with non-gigabyte boards. Its a Biostar T5XE CFX SLI. It would save me the bucks of buying a new board. Got it for free, but I've invested enough hours I should have just started with Gigabyte. Thanks for the system regardless. Sent you a couple-o-sheckles for a brew earlier, well deserved. cardician
Hey mr janek, I love your work. My ep45 UD3P Just work with the installer ! I experiment something I Put the SATA HD into the lunch box, and Install snow leopard to it through my macbook, after finished, I put back the SATA HD to the PC, and Plug the USB which is contain your installer files. And it works like a charm ! Big Thank you ! And I think your work worth more than just a thank you or even a big thank you! Just donate you some euro, not much, but I just want to appreciate your work with something more than just a thank you. here is the paypal magic number 33D81872HR259833B. I don't want to show off, and I don't have any relationship with Mrjanek. Hopefully everyone who think this work is brilliant and worth something more than a thank you will follow this. And for Mr Janek, Keep up the good work ! And for adding information, I am using Logitech wave pro wireless with the mouse http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keyboard...77&cl=us,en and believe or not the multimedia button works with the osx without any hassle.it is a good recommendation.one thing you need to do is to change the modifier key, change the option with command and vica versa. Good luck!
odanielsen
Hi. I have been using the LifeHacker method to install Snow Leopard on my GA-EP45T-UD3LR. I have made a couple of modifications in order to get my audio card, time machine, and network card to work properly. I am experiencing kernel panics now and then, especially when I am trying to use disk utility. I am also experiencing indexing every time I am using spotlight search after a reboot Can anyone tell me if there are any benefits of using the Kakewalk method compared to what I am using today?
