I've installed SL in safe mode and installed the combo update & now when it boots up it has little bits of pieces if the snow leopard desktop but I can't see anything and it's frozen. Does anyone know why this is happening I'm using a 4850 1gb powercolour card. Thank you!

Hero, if you possibly can, borrow a different video card from a friend, a computer repair shop, anything. Try it out - you will be surprised. I have thoroughly searched this forum, the big threads, the GA-EX58-UD5 threads. The ATI 4850 is not a good match, it seems. Apple Computer is finding this out now too in the new quad-core 27" iMacs.

Checked the sound in the BIOS and it states that the Azalia codec is set to AUTO not disabled. Like I said, I can see all of the sound outputs but I can't hear ANYTHING when connected regardless of which port I'm connected to.

 

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Are you using headphones or external powered speakers to test? Gigabyte analog outputs are fairly low, less than 1.5mv I would say, although Gigabyte does not specify in my manual. My stereo analog outputs are connected to a Mackie CR1604 mixer, and I do have to crank it up a bit more than I did even with an old PowerBook G4. Besides the Sound System Preferences Pane, be sure to check the settings in Utilities>Audio Midi Setup. Also do what I usually forget to do: switch audio cables. There is always the possibility of mobo malfunction but not likely.

Hello, I am a first time hackintosh user and I keep getting the following error message...

 

system extension "/system/library/extensions/realtekR1000SL.kext" was installed improperly and can not be used.

 

I assume that is why my sound is not working. Would you please point me to the thread where I can find out how to fix this issue?

This should not cause any problems. One thing you can check is if computers/shares from bonjour show up in finder then the driver is active.

After months of reading this and other threads, I decided to take the plunge and build my first hackintosh. Partly because my old computer was dying and partly because I was sick of using windows( Yes I'm a Mac virgin).

 

So I ordered the parts, built the rig, and used mrjanek guide and CD installation. It worked :thumbsup_anim:

 

Well almost:

 

:P VGA output not working(need it for KVM switch)

;) rear audio not working, the front port is

:thumbsdown_anim: won't respond when comes out of sleep

:thumbsdown_anim: Dual Boot

 

What I know is working:

:thumbsup_anim: Updates, no problem so far and LAN. Thats all I've had time to check.

 

things I still have to patch/try:

:whistle: ps/2 patch

:whistle: time machine to NAS

hi guys my name is zan i have a intel core i5 750 cpu and gigabyte p55m-ud2 motherboard with 4gig ram iam trying to intall iATKOS_v7 snow leaporad i need some help with this i get the screen with darwin bootloader and it comes up with unable to find smtable any help would be good guys thank u and is i post this in the wrong place sorry pls pls pls help also trying to get get this on my laptop and it just half way thru intall

The OP, mrjanek, states in Post #1 of this thread that he has added support for the Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2 with version 1.7 of Gigabyte OSX. Your Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H may be similar enough to work as well. Check the Gigabyte site below to see what differences exist between the two. A few tweaks may be all that are necessary.

At present there is no version of GigabyteOSX to support the EP43 series. I am sure that you can find support in another thread in this forum (and others) however.

There is no support for EP35 series of motherboards at present with GigabyteOSX. See Post #1 for requirements.

I am partial to my own motherboard selection below, the GA-EX58-UD5 for the ease and flexibility it provides. If you want to use the GigabyteOSX bootloader be sure to pick a board supported by mrjanek. See Post #1 for requirements.

I didn't try sleep before updating to 10.6.2, but I did notice that sleep is not working right for me after the combo update is installed. If I go up to the little Apple icon and select sleep... it actually shuts the machine off!

 

Anyone run into that problem? I have to go back thru my notes I took with my EP45-DSR3 board about building my own DSDT, not sure if that'll help.

wlan theres tons of compatible threads, i used to use the zydas chipset, its not an airport card, but works with its own gui..

Well, mine actually turns OFF when I put it to sleep... If I hit the keyboard or mouse to "wake it up", the computer boots (POST->apple logo-> SL). So, at least on my stage of the game, coming out of sleep = booting the computer fresh.

some things which are not resolved:

 

i have installed the old usb-method and absolutely no problems (ep45-ud3lr). only thing is, that if you want to use optical output (toslink) it is 2.1 but not 5.1 available.

 

question 1:

is the new driver method with 5.1 support on the toslink?

 

question 2:

a fried of me has the same mobo and if he tries to install reason or record from propellerhead he immediately gets a kernel panic ("you have to reboot your computer..."). original software with correct serial.

btw.: logic 9 runs perfect...

 

any hints? does the problem disappear if he installs the new driver package?

Gigabyte, MSi or Asus - Nvidia 9800GT 512 is fine.

Firewire 400 on the MoBo works out of the box.

Wlan - Any major brand name will likely work, esp if it is USB. My personal preference is an actual wire istead of WLan for security and speed.

hi all, i updated today to itunes 9.0.3 and now i can't hear any sounds?! everything is normal, i can switch between my sound channels, see the volume slider going up and down but i cant hear anything.

 

can someone confirm such a mess after itunes update?

when i spin my volume up down and switch the sound outputs than i get this errors and the maschine is loggin me out. no reboot, just logout.

hell yeah....I installed this to my hd and upon reboot my IDE dvd burner started working with 10.6.1 retail. I imported a Green Day cd. Sound still doesn't work. GA-P35-DS3L

i had this same problem. just go into sys prefs, then energy and make sure you check that start after power failure. i posted this a few pages back.. good luck
