JGKC9AYC
I'm getting ready to do the USB install on my EX58-UD4P. Does anyone know if the drivers in the USB install for the Realtek 8111D chipset that's used on the UD4P compatible w/the Realtek RTL8139/810x family fast ethernet NIC that I have on my PCI NIC? Also, a few posts up someone said their 4890 worked out of the box. I have a 4870...what's my chances of it working w/o having to install anything extra? If I do have to install something extra, where does it install to? Do I save it to the same USB stick or use another? Thanks!

I have the same Mobo as you with a gtx 260, and this guide installed flawlessly on the first try without adding a thing. Oh, I did flash my bios to f-10h. And if you have any raptor drives, unplug them!!

Oh, I did flash my bios to f-10h. And if you have any raptor drives, unplug them!! I don't have any Raptor drives, but I assume that I should unplug my Windows drive. Is there a particular reason you flashed your bios to f10h? Also, the user manual is confusing as to the location of SATA-0/1. Is 0 on the top or bottom? Thanks! Yes, RealtekR1000SL.kext is included in every package.
trwoolley
mrjanek - I would like to update with the latest Asere1.1.7 bootloader using your GigabyteBoot.mpkg. Can you explain exactly how I use this package? Do I just run it on my existing SL hard drive installation and restart? Thanks, Tom

billchen
Mr Janek, Is this guide (64bit setup) works for pentium dual core E6300/E6500 processor? (You did specify that it's core 2 duo & above..). I just got EP45-UD3L for free & I am thinking to build a budget hackintosh. Thanks.
magnifico
Why, are not changed the boot pictures? I have replaced the boot pictures, but it remains always the same one
trwoolley
You just start the installer, select your motherboard and then your SL partition.Click Install and then reboot. Thanks for the quick reply! I was going to run it as you say. I have a bootable CCC external clone backup of my SL installation, tested thoroughly, so I figured I could always restore SL if necessary to current status if I screwed up. Question: I see in the SMBIOS 1.5.1 that I used for my EX58 board you used SMproductname=MacPro3,1. Back in GigabyteUSB 1.4 you used MacPro4,1 for the EX58-UD5. Is this change related to the Asere bootloader changes, and how does it affect the system ID, if any? I understood that SMBIOS did not function except for cosmetics. mrjanek
Mrjanek,Since you're here can you chime in on my post #978 regarding LAN? Thanks Yes, it's compatible and should work right out of the box. Mr Janek,Is this guide (64bit setup) works for pentium dual core E6300/E6500 processor? (You did specify that it's core 2 duo & above..). I just got EP45-UD3L for free & I am thinking to build a budget hackintosh. Thanks. Yes, pentium dual core should work just fine. The settings in smbios.plist are only cosmetic. They only show up under "About this mac" and the system profiler. The change from 3,1 to 4,1 doesn't affect the system in any other way than that. trwoolley
No problems whatever with updating with GigabyteBoot 1.7! Snow Leopard now seems to run even faster. Still reporting 64 bit as before with 1.5.1. All functions still intact. Boot was decidedly faster! I continue to hope that since Sleepenabler.Kext and NullCPUPowerManagement.Kext are no longer being used, we might someday see a 10° celsius temperature reduction. I guess not yet. My ambient CPU temperature as reported by iStat runs between 41° and 45°.
JGKC9AYC
Just an update. I installed using the USB method & it went without a hitch! The only snag I ran into was not being able to connect to the internet. I unplugged my LAN cable from the PCI card & plugged it into the onboard LAN (that I thought was dead) & BOOM!! Success!! Display looks good...have it set to 1600x1200. I'm using a Logitech MX Laser mouse & i'm used to using the thumb buttons to go back a page. I've noticed it doesn't work like that now. Any fix for that? Don't know what else to check, except now i'll plug my Windows drive in & hope I get a choice as to which hard drive I want to startup with. Will those bios settings cause any ill effect for Windows? Thanks for a great program & a donation will be sent soon! *EDIT* I plugged my Windows drive into SATA 1 (Hackintosh drive is plugged into SATA 0), but I don't get an option as to which HDD to boot with. Ideas?

Nice to hear that it worked out for you I believe that Logitech has a driver with a preference pane where you can map your buttons to specific actions. If not then there's always the shareware USB Overdrive. No, Windows will stay the same. All of your partitions will show up in the bootloader "Bootcamp" style. maccompaq
Compatibility with GigabyteCD and EX58 is not great. The thing is that the ISO has to be compatible with all of the motherboards(I don't want to make an ISO for every motherboard). The bad thing about that is that it can be quite tricky to achieve. But I will look into it and try to improve it. In the meantime I suggest using the GigabyteUSB method. I tried the USB method, and I get the Apple logo and the spinning circle, and then a grey screen and nothing. When I formatted the 8GB USB thumb drive, it would not let me change from MBR to Guid. When I tried the CD method previously, I scratched the Snow Leopard DVD, but it seemed to copy onto the USB drive. Any ideas?
mrjanek
Yes Before it boots to OSX you'll see a loading meter. When you see this (lasts for 3sec) press any key to enter the menu.

Any ideas? From which version of Mac OS Disk Utility did you try a GUID partition? I have read that only Leopard's Disk Utility can do a proper prep job for Snow Leopard. If you were in Panther or Tiger it was likely to fail. Also, if you used a SanDisk Cruzer flash drive you will need to remove the U3 partition. Google "sandisk cruzer remove u3" for information. TC Zack
Mr. Janek First off would like to say this worked flawlessly. Got Snow leopard installed to one of my 3 hard drives perfectly. Everythings booting fine and is up and running but I am still currently missing Audio. I have a GigaByte EP45-UD3L motherboard and have tryed seveal kexkt's, packages etc. on many chipsets...I just can't get anything detected. PayPal $5 your way if I can get audio up and running. Any information is much obliged. I believe the ep45-ud3l uses ACL888 or something audio? My apologies for being a noob at this, fairly new to the OSx86 scene.
