Hi ilia,

I've Carbon Copy Cloned my start up disk into another internal disk.

I rebooted waiting that Chameleon detect both bootables disks and offering me to choose which one I would like to boot from. But Cameleon only saw the original disk.

After that I open System Preferences > Startup Disk. There appeared the original startup disk, the cloned one and the network startup disk.

When I selected the cloned one a window saying "You can't change the startup disk to the selected one. The bless tool was unable to set the current boot disk".

What can I do to add the "bless tool" to the cloned disk to get it boot up? And to be detected by Chameleon?

Thanks.

I've used carbon copy to clone my drive to another internal one. Then I downloaded Mr Janet's latest package and installed it onto the aforementioned international drive.

I disconnected my main drive and I was able to boot into my cloned drive - and I'm typing from it at the moment. Everything seems to be working fine however; little-snitch for some reason has forgotten the old configuration and it takes a long time to boot into the new drive (I'm not sure whether I just picked an old hard-disk).

Man, I wanna give you many thnx for your effort!!!! Installed perfectly, works fast and brilliant.

A couple of notes:

1. Realtek 1000 kext was not installed ok, i'm thinking a "not perfect" cd burning might be the cause, anyway Lanworks w/o problems.

2.I cannot make the M-Audio Delta 1010 to work.

I write music that's the main cause I did this "besides to play around with the Leo", but that's not your prob, just to mention to everybody that the Envy drivers didn't work for me.If anybody has the same mobo and card and has found a solution plz post it.

Ah! one more. I have 8gb Ram Adata1066, but the Os says 800, and when i set them manually on bios to run at 1066"the Q6600 is at the same spd so I would like to run 1:1, the OS says 667....

AND...is it safe to upgrade from Apple to 10.6.2?

A BIG THANK YOU AGAIN!!! :(

using the bootloader i was able to install Snow Leopard on my system

EX58-UD4P 10F bios

i7-920

6 gigs OCZ 1600 ram

Sapphire ATI 4890

IDE dvd drive

IDE 40 gig seagate drive <=== OS X installation drive

sata 1 tb WD drive <==== windows partitions

From the Bootdisk i installed the EX58-UD5 package

installed RealtekR1000 kext for lan

Used QIW_CI_Exotic_cards.pkg, Enabler_for_Nvidia_and_multiple_ATI_cards.pkg and QIW_CI_Exotic patch 10.6.2.pkg

to enable the 4890.

Is there a program i can run or something i can look for during boot to make sure everything is properly installed and running like if sleep and shutdown functions correctly. Because on shutdown it show fail for unmount /home then it shutsdown.

Glad to see there's yet another UD4P user!

I've got a similar setup except i'm running a 4870 & my onboard LAN took a dump so i'm having to use a Belkin PCI network card.

Where'd you find the software for your 4890? At what point of the installation did you install those packages?

Any idea as to whether i'll have any issues with this package recognizing this network card?

Thanks!

What version of XP are you running? What SP? Is it on a partition with Leopard or on a different hard drive?

Does your 4870 display all resolutions, and did it work out of the box?

Was your Mobo recognized with mrjanek's method without modifying the instructions?

Have you updated to 10.6.2?

it is win xp professional, SP 2 on a different NTFS hard drive.

the 4870 works out of the box.

i did mrjaneks method wothout any modifying.

i updated to 10.6.2 using apples search engine.

hope to find a way to boot with different systems !!

I am having two issues, one has already been mentioned here when people update to 10.6.2 they get a black screen, I will try their suggestions and let you know. The other problem I am experiencing is if I change my screen resolution, the screen goes blue, but the desktop never comes back, if I reboot its all good and at the resolution I had selected before I had to reboot.

I am using:

Gigabyte EP45 UD3L

Intel E2160

2x1G DDR 667 RAM

PNY 8800GT

400GB SATA HD's X2

DVR SATA

Snow Leopard 10.6 vanilla install

Thanks for this easy to use guide and vanilla install.

1- Put NVenabler64.kext to E/E

2- Run Kext utility

3-Restart

Done!

Sorry I am a bit of a noob, how do I put the kext to E/E, what is E/E anyway?

I have run kexts before, I just drop this on the kext utility?

Thanks

Its ok I figured it out, but it did not resolve my problem, thanks anyway though.

E/E -> extra extensions folder created by chameleon (extra kexts are loaded from this folder by chameleon during boot process) full path - /Extra/Extensions (same disk as your Snow Leopard install) just drop your extra kexts there (dont use kext utility - it puts kexts into /system/library/extensions - you dont want that :)

Its ok I figured it out, but it did not resolve my problem, thanks anyway though.

In the same folder E/E you should have file: com.apple.Boot.plist, open it with TextEdit and add this code :

	<key>Graphics Mode</key>
<string>1024x768x32</string>

this is for resolution 1024x768 in 32bit colour mode, change it if you using different resolution

Ok so I followed your instructions as I had not done it correctly the first time when I thought I had. Unfortunately it still did not resolve my issue, the system still boots to a black screen, press and hold the power button to force it into sleep, press it again, comes out of sleep and desktop comes up. Changing resolutions also requires the same process to get the system to come up at the chosen resolution.

Thanks for your help.

When i have changed the screen res i got this blue screen that can be bypassed by a sleep-wakeup procedure.

I have just changed from the VGA (dsub) to the DVI connector (and a DVI to VGA adapter) and all this problems were gone.

Unfortunately i could never make my OSX install work in dual view (with 2 monitors at same time). I would love to use it to watch my movies...

Big thank's to you CreativeBR, I tried the VGA/DVI adaptator, and it works fine, I don't have the blue screen anymore, even if I change the resolution screen or reboot my computer.

Hope it solves other hackintosh users blue screen problem.

Thank's again ^_^

I have to thank you for this awesome guide & bootcd. After failing with blackosx's Vanilla retail 10.6.2 install with Chameleon on a separate partition for the Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L while installing Snow Leopard i had immediate luck with yours. I just updated my system to 10.6.2 and everything's fine. Thank you!

Here's my hardware config:

Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L F11b

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

Sparkle GeForce 9800GT 512MB

4GB Kingston HyperX DIMM DDR2-1066

1TB Hitachi HDD

Search isn't working for me, so sorry for not searching this thread incase this has come up before, buuuut when I use this, the installer loads fine, but when I go to disk utility to partition my hard drive as per the guide, neither of my 2 hard drives are listed, only my USB stick from which the installer is running is listed. I don't have the exact same mobo as listed in the GigabyteOSX installer, but i chose a close one, and changed the BIOS settings as shown. One of my HDD's is SATA and the other is IDE if that helps.

Hey Everyone,

Been running a 10.6.2 hack on EP45-UD3R which I got going manually originally. This installer would have been a godsend then, but I guess I wouldn't have learnt anything. Anyway - I've now run into a problem.

I got a second hack box up and running flawlessly in 5 minutes for a friend with your installer. It was a EP45-UD3R w/ 9500GT (Gigabyte DVI + HDMI). All working perfectly, including QE/CI out of the box installing off USB as per the guide.

The UD3R that went into this machine was my old one - which I'd had running Snow Leopard fine in the past. To replace it, I've managed to source a UD3P, which has a second PCIe video card slot, which was the reason for the upgrade. I want to be able to run 2 x Cinema Displays on my desk, plus running a third HDMI to my TV.

So I put the video cards in, reformatted USB Key & Installed Gigabyte USB for the UD3P this time, and tried to boot my new MB with it. But it Kernel Panics. As soon as I pull the second video card, it boots fine.

I've tested both the Video cards on their own, in both slots. They work fine - and boot into the installer no problem. I even did an install and it worked fine with only ever one of the two cards installed. It's only when I try to boot into the installer or OS with both cards that I get the KPs.

When I boot into verbose mode, I don't actually get panic data - but the last thing I get is:

AppleRTL8169Ethernet: Ethernet address 6c:f0:49:01:8b:8d

I'm guessing this has something to do with the DSDT.aml perhaps? Maybe the one in the package/installer is built for a single video card? I've done a HEAP of reading today, and I can't find a decent resource explaining how I'd fix this problem. Anyone got any suggestions?

One weird footnote - I am able to get my machine to still boot on my old drive, and it sees the second video card in the System Profiler, but just lists it as "Display" - there is no ancillary info there, and it doesn't work.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks,

John

Hello,

in December 09 i dowloaded a version of the gigabyte.iso and installed it with SL 10.6 on my GA-EP43-UD3L.

Worked and works like a charme.

What board do i have to choose this time or is there a possibility to include the GA-EP43-UD3L???

I've been meaning to build my own hackintosh for a while now, read the entire thread and came to the following build:

Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5

Intel Core i7 920

EVGA GeForce GTX 285 1GB

If I'm correct these will all work with your 'minimal effort' install, or did I miss something and should I choose something else?

Also, which wireless network adaptor would you recommend?

MrJanek.

Very nice set of tools. Thanks to all involved.

I recently had the opportunity to replace my mobo (my hacker EP45-DS3R decided it was going to give up the ghost) and I replaced it with the EP45T-UD3LR. Although I've been building hackint0sh's for years now, I decided to go with your USB pack to speed up the process.

Works famously.

Kudos.

Only one small issue, and I think its FakeSMC related: (from dmesg)

FakeSMC: key info not found CLWK, length - 6

My current rig:

EP45T-UD3LR + Wolfdale Q8300 Quad Core

4 Gig Gskill DD3

(Sapphire) ATI 4870 1Gig

(Belkin) Wireless G Desktop (FD5700 - Broadcom 43XX)

2xSATA 750 gig Barracuda HDD

1xSATA Lite-On BD Blue-Ray Burner

Hello again,

Any way this method could be extended to the P55 motherboards from gigabyte? Less features, but significantly less expensive.

Michael

Sure, give me some examples and I'll see if I can add support. I do however, have a lot do with school atm and it might take a while (~2 weeks) before a new version is released.

i think the KP is just from your video card, i had the same issue with nvidia g6600, no issues with my 9800gtx

Is this causing any problems?

The board I would propose would be one of the following...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...8-406-_-Product (gigabyte p55-ud3l)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...8-405-_-Product (gigabyte p55m-UD2)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...8-425-_-Product (gigabyte p55-USB)

The UD2 would probably be my choice for a build, all are around 100-120 USD

Tonymac has a guide for installs with these boards, has DSDT's on them all. An automated installer would be excellent.

Best

Mike
