Sull
I am uploading some stuff for you in two secs... I'll edit this post with it.... We inject graphics a little different, added EFI strings for your card in boot plist. I included a patched boot file as well. I included Disabler.kext so if you temps are high I would suggest running that or CPU info will need to be added to dsdt. I included a nice dsdt for your board with lots of patches... If you hard drives are showing as external ( Orange ) run OrangeIconFix.kext or look into dsdt fix. JMicronATA.kext can be removed if you don't run any IDE devices.... You need to use the included kext utility to rebuild cache and create Extensions.mkext..... you can find that under utilities PS. Might wanna clean up that dock and top bar man, I almost through up in my mouth a bit.... but I am scared to see what you have start up..... Sull
EDIT: Out of curiosity what are you running at startup and are you using some type of backup program perhaps ? This could help solve the problem too!
toldi
Just installed a fresh copy of Mac OS X. Everything's fine except display resolution. I'm using a Panasonic LCD TV as my monitor. The only *working* resolution is 800x600. If I change to 1920x1080 (native resolution) I get a blue screen (no mouse, no dock, nothing, just a blue background). My PC is connected via D-Sub. Is there any chance to get it working? Specs: Intel Quad Core, EP45-UD3LR, 4GB RAM, nvidia Geforce 9800GT Try to use DVI-I instead of D-SUB. This could help solve the problem too! thanks for your help i will try to figure out what you said and how to do it, I have 0sx86tools but when i click on add or run kext, i locate it but its never clickable as for my startup apps, just skype and gmail notifyer. I looks messy but i like how it is, its easier and faster to have more quicklaunch in the dock than to goto my app folder to find em. thanks again ill report tomororw on how everything is going.. You don't need OSX86 Tools to install kexts. That's why I included the kext utility....... Step.1 You need to know if Chameleon exists on OSX root or on EFI. If you see "Extra" folder on your root then we asume it's not on EFI. Step.2 Inside the "Extra" folder you will see an Extensions folder, you can change any kexts in this folder like I said in the above post, BUT after you change any kexts you will need to run the "Kext Utility" I included in the zip file, this app is in the folder "Utilities" Just run the app and this will rebuild cache and the New extensions in "Extra/Extensions" will be packed into Extensions.mkext. The app does all the hard work for you! When changing or editing SMBIOS.plist, com.apple.Boot.plist, DSDT.aml and boot file there is not need for run this "Kext Utility" PS. If Extra does not exist on the root where OSX lives, then there is another tool which can work with EFI partition to rebuild kexts. I mean if you don't have the ability to do it manually! mrjanek
bump, can anyone suggest where i can go to find out what is causing this random panic? I have no idea what part to googlel... please any input would be greatful. Random kernel panics suggests that there is an issue with permissions in your /Extra/Extensions folder. I suggest downloading and running Kext Utility. Reboot after it's done and see if you can reproduce the KP. Sull's suggestions are incorrect. Most of the files he mentions for you to remove are not even part of the package. The OrangeIconFix.kext is not neccessary since it's already a part of the DSDT file. You shouldn't have to do any graphics injection either since graphics enabler is active and automatically detects your card.
bossent20
Thank you so much for this helpful USB method On my first try it worked flawlessly and I mean 100% perfect! I only have one issue, which is really very minor... the "about this mac" window does not display my corei7 920 or my 6gb 1600mhz ram i have not looked yet, but i will check here if there is a fix for it. Over 40 pages of replies to go through - lol anyways thank you and great work PS - i noticed there is no GUI bootloader of chameleon. i am not too worried about having a nice GUI of chameleon, but when it comes to installing windows 7 and windows XP, i would then have 3 operating systems. is there a way of updating to GUI of chameleon for dual booting? thanks again UPDATED! ... Okay just to add - I did my first update to 10.6.2 as well as other stuff. I then rebooted fine. Upon reboot there was another update and upon restart this time it went into the blue screen. The cd eject function was working, which meant there was a graphical problem with the desktop. I read that restarting this can help, so I did and it worked. But will I be facing this all the time and why does it occur please? Thanks

I included that strickly because in the dsdt I included does not have the SATA fix for Orange icon, there is mixed results with this and some users are experiencing crashing etc. For myself I run the patch in dsdt no problem. I was just offering a different method for thr user to try...
bossent20
seems i overlooked a problem and i hope it is a small one to fix. after successful boot and updates i noticed after all my excitement of getting 10.6 running, that my mouse was a little jumpy. it happens every few seconds or so. basically, when moving the mouse in any direction, or better example... when i go to system pref and select mouse option. clicking the button would not keep the mouse on that point in the screen. instead, it would open the next window but jump several pixels across the monitor. is there any reason this is happening. any simple way to fix please? it is so annoying, i noticed it also happens during typing as if the entire system is freezing in the background but not actually freezing if you know what i mean. many thanks for any help

Reading through this thread it looks like there are many smiling faces and I hope people are donating VIA paypal for your hard work. Do you have plans to support the H55/Core i3? I'm looking to build a i3 hackintosh to save money on the CPU and since the Gigabyte H55 board and i3 have integrated video I'd save money on a having to purchase a separate graphics card when I won't be doing any heavy gaming on this machine for a while to come.. This is the board I am talking about http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128421 It has integrated video, supports up to 16GB of RAM, has firewire right on the board and supports 5 SATA drives. I don't see RAID support listed but that shouldn't matter since I can just do a software RAID in OS X. Thanks and if you end up tackling this I'll surely be tossing some cash in your direction. Going Bald
mrjanek I have to say you are a guru extraordinaire! I have had various success with OS X on several machines over the years and this is the easiest install I've ever had. So far as I have seen, I'm the only one with this particular mobo. My thanks for adding support for it. System: Coolermaster Cosmos RC1000 Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 Intel Core i7 920 Noctua NH-12P Sapphire VaporX HD5770 - changed to nvidia 7600GT then to 9500GT after KP when 10.6.2 update 2 6GB kits Corsair TR3X6G1600C8D - 12 GB total Corsair CMXAF2 Dominator memory fan Corsair HX850 PSU Pioneer DVR-S18MBK superwriter LG BH08 BD superwriter 6 Seagate 1 TB Barracudas I used the USB method and everything went smooth. For the first time EVER that I done this, everything worked - both ethernets, sound, all of the USB / firewire/esata ports, everything I could test . So, downloaded carboncopy and cloned to second HDD for backup, updated to 10.6.1. Everything still good. Carbincopy to backup again. Updated to 10.6.2 and everything still works and I'm flying high! Installed the rest of the updates from apple update and still everything works. Surprise surprise, I haven't had to patch, add kext files or anything. Carboncopy time again and it's 9:30 PM Sunday and I have to be at work at 6:00 AM Monday, so I shutdown and go get some sleep. Worked overtime monday and didn't even turn it on. Got home today (tuesday) and turned it on, was going to download Firefox and customize it, then go get tinkerool and a few other apps and do some customization on the desktop. UhOh - no ethernet - system says cable is unplugged. Checked cable- plugged in - shutdown and drag that big case out from under the desk so I can see the back. Reboot, go into bios and check ethernet ports- both working. F10 and boot watching the ethernet light glowing greenly at me. About 2 seconds after spinning bars under apple start, the light goes out. System still says the cable is unplugged. So, what happened between the time I shut down sunday night and booted tuesday - any ideas? I saw your reply to someone else with a no connection problem and tried your suggested solution "Go to /System/Library/Extensions/ (of your SL partition) Find the file RealtekR1000SL.kext and delete it. Reboot!" Tried it - didn't work. If you need anything off the HDD it's yours if I can get it back working.

If so , and i dont change anything, what would this do? Im just trying to understand anyway i moved all the files from the meatwagonfix folder over and i rebooted, no sound, so im just gonna undo what i did. Also i notice when i reboot in -v i get systemsSHutdown false cause 0 even though i did shut down properly.. another thing, since i dont mind googling around to find my answer,, but can someone tell me where i can read what the -v is written? does it write to a file so i can it? when i shut down its too fast to read or take a photo of.. thanks again here is what im getting on my boot -v m
