RCMeister
Did you set your BIOS exactly as described in the guide included with gigabyteUSB? Hi, Yes I did. I got a reply from gigabyteUSB Dev and he said my graphics card probably isn't supported. Do any of you have experience with ATI 5000 series graphics cards? maccompaq
This sounds like a very good solution. Several questions: The ALC 889A sound card works out of the box, right? Does this package contain support for the HD 4850 video card? Is this card faster than the 9800 GT? If I buy Snow Leopard now, will it be 10.6 or 10.6.2 on the DVD from Apple? joshier
If I buy Snow Leopard now, will it be 10.6 or 10.6.2 on the DVD from Apple? Because this is a vanilla install, you can upgrade to 10.6.2 easily from 10.6. I'd had no troubles at all.

So you can download the upgrade from Apple without breaking your Hackintosh? My most recent Hackintosh is a G31M-ES2L with 4 GB and a GeForce 8600 GT running Leopard. As my earlier post pointed out, I have questions concerning my 3rd Hackintosh to be. You can Update to 10.6.2 very easily. I would make sure you are on Chameleon RC4 and also update Disabler.kext to versions 2.5 before updating. Unless your running Vanilla Powermanagement... black screen after updating. i have installed correctly and seems to work alright. went to update to 10.6.2 from apple and upon restarting (appeared to update just fine) it seems to start correctly to desktop and stayed a total black screen with just the arrow responding like it was fine but...nada any ideas? I did have a problem when adjusting the resolution before the updates and it locked on a blue screen and had to manually restart. ep45-ud3l evga geforce 9400gt thankx. What method are you using to inject graphics ? Hi I have a few questions, I have the EP45-DS3L mobo. Do I need a mac osx running computer next to me to be able to complete "restore" and run .dmgs? Because this is ridiculous, all the instructions are for people who already have macs. By "restore" do you mean copy and paste onto the thumbdrive?? Because thats what I did! How do I mount the GigabyteUSB and point it to the thumbdrive WITHOUT A MAC?? Please help, thank you. I just bought a 16gb thumbdrive, and after careful investigation realized i could have used my 8gb with the help of "MacDrive". Any information on how I can mount the GigabyteUSB.dmg and point it, or a link would be helpful thanks. Easy. Go to a friends how who owns a mac. Or go to a store that sells Apple products, bring your USB and Snow DVD
uswish
Hey all, installed v1.6 beta and got a couple of errors with my EP45-UD3R: 1. during install got an invalid kext (onboard network card) however the onboard networking still worked fine and can still surf, use network etc. through ethernet. 2. airport utility cannot find my airport extreme or airport express using the scan button (i'm connected directly to the airport extreme via ethernet so it should see it) 3. airtunes in itunes does not work 4. iphone remote does not show up in itunes when trying to control itunes. The only 'solution' I came up with was revert to v1.4 beta (pre AserBLN booter) and all the above problems are fixed. Can anyone else confirm these problems with v1.5 and v1.6 beta? rabbit74
Hi I just installed OSX using this system and everything works. Sleep, sound.., but i had to install the ethernet kext myself. The question I have is, I am running the "GA-EX58-EXTREME" and so I used the "GA-EX58-UD5" install method because I understand it is the same board. Just wanted to ask if anyone understands the "EXTREME" to be different from the "UD5" in any other way than the heat sinks? Your feedback is appreciated. Gsxrjunky
I just wanted to say, after all of the research, reading, pounding my head on the wall trying to get this thing to work, it finally works!!! This guide was the most simple to understand, straight forward guide that anyone who has some computer skills can understand. My hats off to MrJanek who has done this. Everything works!! My dual monitors, internet, sound, everything. But not to say I had a couple of hick-ups the first couple of installs. I will tell you what did and did not fork for me. Oh and my mouse is a little skippy when you go slow, could be batteries or install, dont know yet. First, this is what I have ex58-ud4p mobo with f-10h 3gigs ddr3 1600 corsair ram gtx 260 2 150 gig velociraptors 2 75 gig raptors 1 320 gig wd external I first backed up one of my 74 gig raptors just cause my others are full, put the thumb in, followed bios instructions, got to the format screen, and my raptor drive was not even on the list. WTF! But my 2 150's and 320 hd was. so now I figured Im going to have to use the 320 cause my windows is on the 2 150's. I took apart my external 320 and threw that in the computer and restarted. Sweet now i can format the 320 and install! Did that, got 5 minutes through install, install failed, WTF again! tried it again, same thing. So I unplugged all of my hard drives except my 320, and it failed again. Went into bios and took the profile 1 off on the ram settings(That puts your ram to the stock speed, mine of 1600mhz) and put my ram to about 1066, and install worked!! So I wanted to know what did this, the ram or the hardrives. I plugged everything back and left the ram at 1066 and tried to install everything again. Nothing, it failed again. Unpluged the 75 gig raptor and it worked. Bottom line, for me, this hackintosh thing does not like my 75 gig raptors. Even when I restart the computer, it will not boot back up with a 75 gig raptor plugged in. Works fine everytime with it unplugged. Thought I would share that with anyone who might have this same trouble, but right now I have none at all and love this guide.
RCMeister
I got my system installed with Empire EFI, (Took out 1 Ram Module, SO 4GB total now). The only display resolution I can get is 1024, but it seems my graphics card works anyway. My system can boot so I guess my bios is right. I don't get why the GigabyteOSX makes my system go all funky with noisy fans and a black screen. Any Ideas?

pjsallday
I posted earlier and was not clear on my problems. I have the EX58A-UD7. I installed via the cd method not the usb method. Everything looks great when it starts up but there is no ethernet shown in the network devices just the firewire. I was running the beta F3 bios but switched back to the original F2 to just make sure. After I switched to F2 I reinstalled and the same problem. I have the I7 920. I am kind of stumped. I only selected EX58A-UD7 after the initial install to install the bootloader. I read previously that someone selected multiple board configs to get theirs working. Over at the efix boards they got it working http://www.efixusers.com/showthread.php?t=605. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Lightbringer_x
Just installed a fresh copy of Mac OS X. Everything's fine except display resolution. I'm using a Panasonic LCD TV as my monitor. The only *working* resolution is 800x600. If I change to 1920x1080 (native resolution) I get a blue screen (no mouse, no dock, nothing, just a blue background). My PC is connected via D-Sub. Is there any chance to get it working? Specs: Intel Quad Core, EP45-UD3LR, 4GB RAM, nvidia Geforce 9800GT
