Wikus
Hi! this is my first post and I am very new to this mac os stuff. But finaly, with this guide I am able to install SL. After Installation everything work fine. Sound, Ethernet and video-card. But when I install the package from your boot cd, sound doesn' work anymore. And I am also not able to boot directly from the HD (kernel panic). I have the gigabyte GA-EP45-UDLR. Any ideas? Best Wikus
xanderon
yesterday i had a new experience on my brand new EP45-UD3R with E8500 and ATI 4890. i installed SL faster than Win7 (!) - very good work, but i have to say there is a bug. ----------------------------------------- - after switching the bootcd with original SL DVD, i installed without any problems - perfect! - after reboot the bootcd to access the new installed partition i could boot without any problems - perfect! i saw a picture, i heard sound (! for the first time "out of the box") and i could make my first steps... BUT it freezed all the time after i have selected the language for keyboard and land. it was before the WLAN options. i tested everything, switching in BIOS etc. nothing helped. Solution i took my HDD and connected it to my macbook pro. there i could install your post-install pkg for my board and then everything worked - perfect! so this is the best and cleanest method i ever seen, but with a little glitch. maybe you can fix this. after all i updated fakesmc to 2.5, installed PCI_E 10.5, installed sleepenabler for 10.6.2, legacyati4800controller.kext and QE_CI_Exotic patch 10.6.2.pkg for my ATI 4890 and generated a Extensions.mkext. ah and very important for my eyes: changed the default theme to a more vanilla bootcamp theme another please for advanced user: can u please add the version numbers to your changelogs? like fakesmc v2.5, so everyone can update easily? and can u post some of your used dsdt fixes in the files? is this possible? maybe you have made a documentation? thnx again for the good work. skruven
How about the Gigabyte EP45-UD3 motherboard. I got one of those that are currently running Leopard. Thinking about upgrading to snow leopard. Does it work with one of the packages? Ex. UD3P? I tried to do a install with just the boot disc, installed none of the packages on the boot disc. Everything accept audio seems to work like a charm.

leafhound
Hi! thanks again for this tutorial - awesome! My setup works like charm, with two little problems: 1.) with every reboot, I manually need to switch sound output to internal speaker!? 2.) My BT-USB-Stick only works sometimes and only on certain usb-ports!? (it's a belkin F8T009) If anybody could solve these problems, I would shout out a drink for! ; ) mike Not had that issue with my hardware but you may do better to post your system hardware info, again I have no trouble with mrjanek's bootcd and everything works as it ought to. first hackintosh to have success with. Wikus
Nice Website, mrjanek :-) Maybe you have an idea regarding the Installation-Issues that I actually have. My System-Specs: - EP45-UD3LR - Core2Quad 2.3 Ghz - 4GB Ram - 1TB HD - Nvidea GT9600 Installation (in German language) works fine. I use your Boot-CD and SL Installation is perfect. I have 4 Partitions (SL is the first see atachment). After Installation I am able to boot with your Boot-CD and OS X works well (including sound and everything). If I now install the gigabyte-package (I choose of corse EP45-UD3LR within the setup), the system doesn`t boot from HD (I see chameleon but I get a kernel panic) and the sound is not working anymore if I boot from the cd, which is still working well. So I "just" need the possibility to get the Bootcd on my HD, because when I boot OSX with this magic peace of software everything works well! The Installation-Package on the CD destroys my sound and chameleon is not working... Any Ideas? Best Wikus 1.tiff
GrootWitBaas
If you're looking for something cheap then I recommend Nvidia 9500GT. It costs about 45 euros and will do well with HD video although not with games. I was looking for something quick rather than cheap, the 9500 is good(and fairly cheap), everything works fine, and it's passive version so my DVD drive makes more noise than the complete PC, but TBH I should have waited for something else like GT9800. The good thing is now I have time to wait for a GTX285 ....Any one have one and can give any feedback on how it is ??? Just launched a pretty simple website. pepechuelo79
Thanks, mrjanek for your method. In Nov 22 2009, 07:20 PM you wrote "Without "NullCPUPowerManagement.kext" and "SleepEnabler.kext" your CPU will run approximately 10C degrees hotter. You can resolve the heat issue by installing said kexts to "/Extra/Extensions". I checked my Extra/Extension folder and NullCPUPowerManagement.kext was there. But SleepEnabler.kext was not. Actually, in any place. So, I tested if sleep was working in my hackintosh, and no. It is not working. So I went to kexts.com and downloaded it. I tried to install it with Kext Helper b7. I've done but after rebooting SleepEnabler.kext was not in /Extra/Extensions folder. BTW, it was impossible to quite Kext Helper. The only way was making force quite. So made a search and found that xtraa wrote in http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...php/t42130.html as a way to install kext ... "just copy them into the System/Library/Extensions/ folder on your harddisk, where you can find all the kexts for your system. You can bookmark this folder in the Finder if you like. For each operation, OS X is asking you for your password and you have to log in. After copying the kext files, you have to delete the kext-cache, so that the new kexts will be added by the system when it rebuilds the cache next boot. To do this, delete two files with the Finder (just drag them into trash). The two files are /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache and /System/Library/Extensions.mkext" Well, I just dragged "SleepEnabler.kext" into "/Extra/Extensions" and searched for Extensions.kextcache and xtensions.mkext. If I remeber well I could not found Extensions.kextcache while Extensions.mkext was in "/Extra". I dragged Extensions.mkext from there to desktop. Repaired permissions with Disk Utility. And restart. Everything look good. No problem in the surface. Now sleep works. But I afraid I've done something wrong with all these kext and mkext. If I open "/Extra" I see there are: com.apple.Boot.plist DSDT.aml Extensions smbios.plist And into "/Extra/Extensions" I see there are: fakesmc.kext HDAEnabler.kext IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext LMicronATA.kext LegacyHDA.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext SleepEnalber.kext So, Extensions.mkext were no recreated. Actually, I have in desktop the one I dragged from "/Extra/Extensions". It is something I must to worry? I should do anything? Thanks a lot. Oh! I forgot to ask another question. Everytime I repair permissions with Disk Utility I get: "Permissions differ on "usr/share/derby", should be drwxr-xr-x , they are lrwxr-xr-x . Repaired "usr/share/derby". Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgent" has been modified and will not be repaired." Is it everything OK? Thanks again. erich945
I am having the same problem as multiple people on this page. I can boot fine with the CD but if I try to install it then it won't work. I have the EP45T-UD3LR.
erich945
I found a solution, I reinstalled 10.6 and instead of installing the package I right clicked and selected show package contents, then found the package for my motherboard and installed that. Wikus
@mrjanek: You fixed that problem I was talking about? In the meanwhile I solve it bymeself. artmusic
These problems appear on EP45-UD3LR, EP45T-UD3LR and EX58-UD5. I have just uploaded fixed versions of all the packages (GigabyteUSB, GigabyteCD and GigabyteBoot). For those of you who've already got SL up and running: GigabyteBoot.zip Thanks for the fix ! Now its working. As I wrote my network interruptions only disappaer when I delete RealtekR1000SL.kext in System/Library/Extensions So my network is working (full speed and Bonjour ) with AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext inside of IONetworkingFamily.kext. Maybe because I use always VmWare Fusion ?? The automatic sleep is only working with the freeware Pleasesleep. Again my question: can I easily copy/backup my Extra Folder in the case something is wrong or I test some kextes ?
groland
I just want to thank mrjanek. Great work. Now running a fast and working SL without efi-x dongle. Except my wireless card (d-link dwa-547), everything works.
