thanks for this wonderful guide, everything is working great minus a few minor quibbles using an EP43-UD3L. the computer seems to go to sleep ok, but reboots on wake up (first thing i see is bios splash screen) -- secondly i am getting a bit of mouse jerkiness (particularly when running itunes i think) -- it's subtle, but definitely there. i am running an 8800gt and saw a post you made earlier about running a terminal line. will give that a go.

anyone have any ideas of the reboot on wake up?

thanks again for this guide, his been a really pleasurable experience.

peace, antipop2323

edit* noticed the other guy's post w/ issue of reboot on wake and that it's probably related to the DSDT.aml

got a bit to learn in regards to fixing this

edit* mouse lag resolved, just reboot on wake remains

edit* reboot on wake was fixed too by checking the start up automatically after a power failure in energy saver

rawr!!!

Thanks a lot for this guide which works perfectly.

The only problem I encountered concerns my graphics card, a Radeon HD 4890 Vapor-X. The resolution was blocked by default at 1280x1024. I decided to change the file com.apple.boot.plist to force the resolution to 1680x1050 on boot. But after restarting the machine, the resolution was set to 1400x1050 and not 1680. Does anyone know if there is another way to change the resolution for this card ?

I am happy to post success running the Nvidia GTX-285!!!!!!!

see my sig for full details.

i have 3 PCI express cards, a firewire card, 2 DSP cards. In addition the audio interface routing through the firewire card. After installing software for these none of them work.

None of these guys work in 64 bit mode.

i fixed this problem by going into my extensions folder and change the com.apple.boot.plist and change the x86 string from "64" to "32"

after rebooting i could see in about this mac - > software that my system was now running in 32 bit mode. this i could now run all my DSP cards and audio interfaces.

Kudos to the inventor of this installer. I went from a box of PC parts, to a fully working Hakintosh i just under 45 mins. God i love his forum!!!

also i don't seem to be able to get more than 3 hard drives running with this motherboard at the same time.

even after formatting the 3rd/4th as non GUID journeled partitions. The boot loader works but the startup just stops progressing at the black screen with the curser flashing..... i.e. the grey window doesn't start. if i connect these drives using a Sata to USB converter they will work, but i cant get more than 2 Harddrive SATA's to work.

what should i be checking?

by the way what is everyone's geekbench coming in at using this motherboard. I am getting around 4500. But i would be expecting everyone else with more current CPU to be doing a lot better?

I just flawlessly reinstalled 10.6 and still have all my data. Phew! You gotta love Apple engineers! I am hesitating to update to 10.6.2 again.

I gave 10.6.2 another try, but it didn't work, it gave me a Kernel Panic after 2 minutes uptime. Maybe someone has an idea where I can look for a solution. I give you my setup: Ist basically AsereBLN's setup but with a UD3LR. The first HD is 40 GB (Failsafe) and the second about 100GB (Hackintosh HD). Both have 10.6 installed with mrjanek installer. The third partition is about 800 GB and contains only data.

When booting I manually select "Hackintosh HD" and it works fine without any issues. But after update to 10.6.2 . . . see above. So there must be some mistake related to the disk setup. Maybe the kernel on Hackintosh HD uses something on Failsafe and crashes, when some important file is missing. But I am very hesitant to update "Failsafe" because that's the only functioning MacOS I have left after selling my MacMini :-( Of course I can always redo the install . . .

Any ideas? What log-files would be worth analyzing? I would know for Linux but I am lost with MacOS.

THX,

J. Daehn

I had a similar problem, the way I solved it was to use the 132 cd, install (not everything was working) and then did a upgrade, after the upgrade was susses full I used the installer from the 1st post, and ever since then all is working fine.

What ports on the MB are you using, I use from the last one (6) backwards, and also in the bios there is a setting about port 0-3 and ide compatibility .....maybe change that

Please can anyone help me get Hot Swapping issue? You would be making my Xmas Merry!

Not sure about this, but are you un-mounting the drives before you remove them, and can you mount them after ?

Unfortunately I don't have a hot-swap bay to test this.

Thanks for this installation instructions. I also have advice for people who got the problem with booting from CD in APCI mode ... just click F12 when CPU starting then you will enter to booting menu, wait for disk spin then select booting from CD.

Yes I am unmounting the drive first, but when I put a new drive in the bay or by esata around the rear it does not notice the new drive. It doesn't even acknowledge anything is plugged in. This and the PS/2 port for mouse are the last 2 things I need to get working!

i tried to install on sata 5,4,3 and tweaked those settings but didn't work. does anyone know if its possible for sata drives to conflict with each other?

i dont understand i thought the whole idea of sata was that the drives automatically let the boot disk load? could it be that i have some active settings on the drives when i shouldn't have or something like that?

anyone else got more than 2 hard drives working at the same time using this mobo? how should i go about setting up these 3 drives in terms of partition formats and other properties?

Unfortunately my install is not succeeding: I use the USB method and loaded a downloaded image (snowleopard_10a432_userdvd.dmg) to the USB drive (which is an IDE HD in USB casing). After loading the initial bootloader, the system stops at the screen with the wheel. I do not get into setup at all.

I tried starting with -x and -v -f options, but this wouldn't matter. It hangs after the line:

"AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement: initialization complete". I tried another USB drive (also IDE) and then it hangs after line "AppleRTL8169Ethernet: ethernet address ....etc."

I'm suspecting the USB drives, the graphic card (Nvidia 6200 LE is a bit old, but is PCI-e), or the power supply (350W) being the cause, but I have no clue which one, if at all.

Help is appreciated :)

I WOULD BET MY LEFT {censored} THAT YOUR VIDEO CARD IS YOUR PROBLEM. I HAD A SIMILAR CARD AND HAD THE EXACT PROBLEMS AS YOU!!

As soon as i updated my video card i was able to do the install. i think the way this loader works is that is auto-detects your video card from a list of cards, and if you cards not on that list, then its just {censored} itself.

Just updated the packages adding support for EP45-UD3R, EP45-UD3P and EP45T-UD3LR.

Note that this is a BETA and since I don't have any of the mentioned motherboards, there is a big chance that some things won't work. It would be great if those of you that try installing on the mentioned motherboards reply to the thread and report the possible issues.

Happy holidays, mrjanek

I am using three SATA hard drives and one SATA DVD without any problems at all. One 750 GB boot disc with two partitions. And one 1 TB drive as data disc (one partition) and one 500 GB (one partition) for backups

Taka look my last post

Hai SaintPL thanks for the info.

I already installed SL successfully but got kernel panic after installed bootloader from GigabyteCD and bios was reseted. My HD4870 isn't supported ? or i must set something in bios ?

Thank you
