mrjanek
Sleep does NOT work either. When using sleep from the dropdown the machine kills. When a button on the keyboard is pressed the machine reboots rather than wakes. Firewire card broken. Sleep broken. GB EP45-UD3L Regarding sleep: This is probably an issue related to the DSDT.aml file. The one supplied with the package is specifically for the EP45-UD3LR motherboard. It is VERY likely that you'll run into issues when using it with a different motherboard. Firewire: I suggest putting your firewire card in a different slot. See if that helps. I have updated to RC4 on my own? Will I not mess things up in the future by using your installers, like this one for users that haven't upgraded to newest Chameleon available now? The installer won't mess anything up. The only thing the package installer does is copying an Extra folder and installing a bootloader to your target partition. sonofmickel
Why are the people on this site so helpful? The world would be a better place if there were more like the people here! Firewire card is recognized after changing slot. Good thing too-there are ONLY two slots on the motherboard for it. Thanks. i will investigate making a DSDT file for my UD3L. Brain surgery anyone? ausweis
As a first time installer SL on desktop (HTPC to be exact) with November ISO, surprised to see Audio, Video, Sleep & Wake, Gigabit LAN, Wireless Logitech Anywhere mouse, Logitech diNovo Keyboard etc.....ALL working right out of the box and even after smooth 10.6.2 upgrade with GB EP45-UD3L board. All I did was simply following the 3pages long instruction with ISO CD & Retail OSX SL. It's been 2 weeks, and I'm loving it...Very fast machine and no error. sonofmickel
AUSWEIS! will you send me your DSDT.aml file? Your board is the same as mine. Do you have bios7? Does your sleep work? All I am missing now is sleep. Muchos gracias. In addition, does anyone have "double click" an open window top to minimize it? My system does not minimize using the "double click" on the header. UPDATE: double click is turned OFF by default in system preferences. I just turned it on and windows now operate the way they should. Also: it appears that Quartz Extreme is not enabled on my card. I have the 9400GT 512. The card is working fine, just no QE. Update: I read that if Front Row will launch, that Quartz Extreme is working. Can anyone verify this? I can launch and use Front Row, my system profiler does NOT show that Quartz Extreme is enabled.
jjaayy73
I've been following this thread for a few weeks now as I"ll be building a Hack pretty darn soon and out of the last year I've been following many threads, this has got to be the easiest and most reliable one. Just wanted to give huge props to mrjanek, as well as the supporting threaders. THANK YOU.
GreenGilbert
Firstly, what a fantastic guide! Thank you! I built my machine about a week ago and it has been running really well. But the display was stuck at 800x600. I'm using a 1Gb Sparkle Nvidia 9800 GT Card with my SnowLeopard patched to 10.6.2. Initially, I tried some other forum suggestions involving Nvidia Series 9 Drivers, patching KEXTs, etc, but with no success. Eventually I had to re-install Snow Leopard due to me screwing up some important file somewhere or other. I tried just increasing the resolution using DisplayConfigX, but again with no luck. The card is being identified as a Nvidia 9800 GT in "About this Mac", but as soon as I try to change resolutions it doesn't work (nothing on the screen). I have to "Remote" onto the machine from my MBP to "view" the display. Would anyone have any idea of what I should do please? Thanks in advance, James MB:GB EP45-UD3L VGA: Sparkle 9800 GT Low Profile Monitor : Samsung Syncmaster 15" (at the moment). In some cases there is a problem with OS X not knowing which port (DVI, VGA) is the primary one. Try switching ports and then set the correct resolution. hi, Can I install 10.6 into my computer as below :- 1. GIGABYTE EP43T P43 (U.D.3) 775 2. dalilama
Hi. I have a motherboard GA-EP45T-UD3LR. The only difference in the type of memory. EP45T has ddr3. Can I use your method? HacPro and I both have this mobo and have had sucess. I have the the following components: GA-EP45T-UD3LR Intel Core2 Q9400S Yorkfield 2.66GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Quad-Core Processor GeForce 9500 GT 1GB 128-bit DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 Crucial 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) If you want you DDR3 memory to "show up" in the "About this MAC" screen, the smibios.plist settings you need to tweak are SMmemtype. Use 24 for DDR3. Lots more info here about the smibois.plist settings: http://redirectingat.com/?id=292X457&u...smbios-plist%2F Good Luck!

sonofmickel
32 bit anyone? I can not get my machine to boot into 32bit mode. I need 32 bit for my midi drivers. I am using the Metric Halo ULN-8 with Reaper and a Motu Fastlane USB Midi interface. The Midi interface does not work in 64bit mode. Apple has not yet written the Audio portion to 64bit as I understand it. Any help in getting to 32bit boot mode? I have tried arch=i386, -v -x32, arch=i386 -v -x32, -x32 arch=i386. Also, I have tried the Power settings in the Bios to 32bit.
the_gael
I have just bought all the various bits and built a machine but am having an issue with getting the Snow Leopard Disk to boot into the GUI. Machine - EP45-UD3LR updated with latest BIOS, E7400 C2D, 4GB GSKILL 1066mhz memory, WD160GB HDD, HIS HD4670 1GB DDR3 PCiE, 500W Power Supply. DVD DL Drive IDE. I have successfully booted from the BootCD and swapped to Snow Leopard Install Disk but after the spinning cartwheel when Snow Leopard should go to GUI I get a blank screen. I had understood that 46XX cards were detected and should just be recognised. Do you think I have an issue with the card not being recognised or is there some other explanation? altoidboy
Thanks so much for this guide! I just followed it and everything seems up and running perfectly EXCEPT for sound. When I go into the Sound control panel > Outputs, NOTHING appears in this list. I have tried building a Hack a few times before (using the Lifehacker guide - bit.ly.GFE66) and had the exact same problem. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? (FYI -- I have a USB audio interface and a Firewire audio interface, and after installing those respective drivers, they don't show up in the Sound control panel either. So something seems very broken regarding audio.) Any tips GREATLY appreciated!!

altoidboy
Your motherboard? Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR? My mobo is the EP45-UD3P but it is almost identical to the UD3LR (as far as I know shouldn't be any difference as far as Hackintoshes go). Also I had the *exact* same problem with the Lifehacker guide which WAS written for the UD3P. So the same problem is common to both that install guide and this install guide...and I'm just hoping SOMEONE can give me some audio assistance so I can figure this out once and for all. This guide yields a near-perfect install -- perfect except for audio as far as I can tell. (And the Lifehacker guide was also perfect except for audio.) I downloaded from the link in the first post. It occured to me that my issue may have been I was trying to install using an HDMI connection to a TV and it may not have supported the resolution that SL was trying to use - however I just tried with a regular monitor connected to the D-SUB on the GFX card and I get the same blank white screen. Any ideas on how to get round this and whether it actually is a case of the card not being recognised. Edited to add - I do briefly see some very small tearing on the blank screen after spinning cartwheel goes. I have also tested the card on a Windows 7 machine so the card appears to work fine. ilia.uk
I've noticed a small thing regarding sleep and hard-disks. Whenever I have external HDs connected and I wake from sleep I get the error message saying "... was not properly dismounted" - as if when then computer goes to sleep the HDs are not 'safely removed' but turned off as if I yanked the cable out. djurmo
Great stuff mrjanek! I have had some problems with very slow installation using your BootCD. Instead I used tseug's boot cd intended for GA-P35-DS4 (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=184367). This gave a fast installation of SL from the retail disk. I then used your great install package and updated to 10.6.2 before rebooting. I am using noname 800 MHz memory modules, an old 2160 dual core processor and a GeForce 210 card with my UD3LR board. With your install package I get full graphics functionality and fully functioning audio and video. Thanks for a good job,Donation is on its way. It doesn't explain why audio wasn't working using the Lifehacker guide (which was built for that mobo) but it does explain why it didn't work for this guide. I will go back to square one! I'm about to do a clean install again with the Lifehacker guide so will write back in a separate thread if the audio problems persist. THANK YOU. mocOS
Hi, I still have the problem with various configurations (different DVD drives and different harddrives; both S-ATA and IDE) that always my installation fails after a very short time when the copy process starts. I have a new original Retail DVD but the installer always fails to copy the files. I have not selected the printer drivers and so on for the install. It would really be great if someone has an idea what may cause these problem or where I may find some more hints regarding this problem. I have an EP45T-UD3LR Mainboard and a dual core cpu. Any help will really be appreciated !!!! ... thanks ...
