So I've been having a lot of problems getting Snow Leopard installed on my PC. I've tried just about everything using the retail installer - lifehacker's guide, a guide by prasys, even a guide on this forum for the maximus formula. So far I haven't even been able to boot the installer. Here is my exact setup.

Asus Maximus Formula motherboard (NOTE: I'm running a Rampage Formula BIOS on this mobo. If anyone is familiar with the maximus, you'll know that the rampage bios can be used to basically convert it into a rampage. They are almost the same board, but the rampage obviously has more features and better stability. Long story short, i NEED to use a rampage BIOS. this is a requirement for me.)

Q6600 cpu @ 3.6 ghz

8 gigs Corsair Dominator 1066 DDR2

nvidia evga GTX285 1 gig (I believe my video card may also pose a problem...i'm not sure how well it's supported under SL)

Creative xtremegamer pci sound card

250 gig WD Caviar Hard Drive for the install (I have 2 other drives but they don't affect installation, all of them are SATA drives)

16 gig Sandisk Cruzer (used for installation)

Like I said, I haven't even been able to boot the installer. It always hangs during loading various stuff. I've gotten farther in the boot process with various settings, and i'm pretty sure the farthest I've gotten is when not using a DSDT.aml file in the installer. From what I understand this needs to be specifically configured for a user's system. I don't know how to generate one, and since I can't install SL I don't think I'd be able to generate one for my hardware. Additionally, I don't know how to get the system to recognize my video card. I'm not exactly sure what I can even do at this point. I'm really noob at this and to say that i'm overwhelmed by the amount of information out there is a huge understatement. If anyone with a similar setup or experience with this type of thing can help me I'd be very very grateful. Thanks in advance!

Well, I've followed a guide on these forums (maximus/rampage SL guide) and have gotten SL installed, but still can't boot into it. It seems like I need to have a patched DSDT.aml specifically for my system. What is the best way to make one of these? I tried doing it the way it was described in the guide but it always gave me unfixable compiling errors.

new update...everything that the guide lists I have done to a tee, except I still can't boot. The issue is with appleintelcpupowermanagement. My boot always hangs at the line that says it's waiting for the kext to initialize and then says "timed out", then boot just stops. I have removed the actual kext from s/l/e, tried a number of combinations of disabler/fakesmc/nullcpupowermanagement and nothing gets rid of this error. I don't know what else I can possibly do. My DSDT is patched for my system, and everything else is basically untouched. Does anyone know why I still have this error? Will my mobo just not be able to run SL (maximus formula with rampage BIOS)?
