kdawg
Without address injection in BUS0 I get a kernel panic.I'm not sure. What you're using is exactly what MacPro4,1 uses.
leslieking
Holy cow! I compiled your DSDT (kdawg_dsdt_GA_EP35_DS4.dsl) and used on the EP35-DS3L (of course, I changed the p-states for the CPU). SBUS works great! lool.. I think something is messed in my DSDT, and the problem is not located in Device (SBUS).. I'm going to figure out the problem. For those of you running custom dsdt's over the last 6 months or so, has it actually held true? Do updates seem to cause less trouble on systems that have "more vanilla" in them, and a minimal /E/E ? Updates will always bring a little joy and a little pain, DSDT patch or no!
tj5
Hi Zoliky I tried the command as you mention below both for SMBus and SBUS your typo :-) and got no output in either case. I have now tested my final DSDT posted above and it works as expected. No errors reported in the system or kernel logs and instant sleep when I hit sleep - but to come back out of sleep I need to hit the power button rather than click the mouse - no big deal though. Now onto getting the c p states working for the CPU..... Hope this helps Tim There is only one or two active USB ports when unit is asleep on the p35-ds3l mobo. Try plugging your mouse into the second from the bottom usb port next to the serial port. My machine auto sleeps and wakes with mouse movement. I do have to keep a disc in the LG BR/DVD player or unit won't auto sleep.
kt6uk
Hi tj5, Thanks for the USB tip - good idea I'll give it a try later. Still working on my P states - but making progress. BTW the only kexts I have installed are fakesmc and hda for the sound. Tim There is only one or two active USB ports when unit is asleep on the p35-ds3l mobo. BTW, I found which usb ports were active when asleep by plugging in a usb optical mouse and when it lit the diode and (stayed lit), I knew I found the correct port(s). I also may have the bios set to wake on mouse click as well. Good luck.
leslieking
@kdawg I solved the SBUS problem. I removed the Method (_PRW) and no more kernel panics. Device (SBUS) //<-- Renamed from PX43 { Name (_ADR, 0x001F0003) Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized) { Store (Package (0x02) { "device-id", Buffer (0x04) { 0x30, 0x3A, 0x00, 0x00 } }, Local0) DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0)) Return (Local0) } Device (BUS0) { Name (_CID, "smbus") Name (_ADR, Zero) Device (DVL0) { Name (_ADR, 0x57) Name (_CID, "diagsvault") } } Method (_PRW, 0, NotSerialized) // <-- removed { Return (Package (0x02) { 0x0B, 0x05 }) } } } Another problem: I removed OSXRestart.kext, and I get a kernel panic Is there something in my dsdt that requires OSXRestart?
leslieking
I figured out something. In order to remove OSXRestart, I need to add Firewire: Device (PCIB) Device (FRWR) { Name (_ADR, 0x00070000) Name (_GPE, 0x1A) Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized){ Store (Package (0x02){"fwports", Buffer (0x04){0x02, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00}}, Local0) DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0)) Return (Local0) } } Why the hell I need firewire ? EP35-DS3L doesn't have firewire.
Pandar
@ Duvel300It still does not work. Maybe I'll try adding it to my dsdt. Hi I have a GA-EP35-DS3P. Asere edited my DSDT.aml a few weeks ago. My machine is running great, but boot time is longer than I would like. I would like to simplify my EXTRA folder further. I'm actually using the one in the Stellarola EP45 package. I'd like to try a different, simpler one with the newest Asere RC4. Would you mind sharing your extra folder with me? I'd like to try it. I assume you're also using Asere's latest RC4? Thanks Pandar
waldo_pepperjack
@ Master Chief & other who asked about the logo for the GA boards: Do GigaByte users have a BIOS setting to let it show a custom boot logo (instead of the usual text messages)? for gigabyte 600 * 480 for asus : higher 800 * 600 I have never tried that program, but according to programs documentation 640*480, 256 colors BMP file seems to be the only option. Great feature! Could you make also default gray logo on the gray background like at Mac OS X startup screen? I'm using this right now: Snow Leopard Gray Apple on Grey with Options, hold the bling ... kozlek
Ok. On my 17" pretty good. mitch_de, the program can only flash bios with image. I still see the normal boot process otherwise. When I made the image, I stuck to the 640x480 8-bit (256 color) format that I'd seen mentioned. Very easy using GIMP. I'm not sure how one would go about sizing it up for a monitor that had a height:width ratio that was very different.
Sull
I tried modifying the one a few pages back with a black background and a white apple. The image just got all pixelated and looked so bad. EP45-UD3P Rev1.6 latest bios FD, interesting I am pretty sure this feature was only introduced in this bios and there are only 3 bios versions that exist for v1.6, I can't vouch for other revisions! Complex shading and color gradations don't come out very well at all. 640x480 & 8-bit color depth kind of limits the options & quality of the image, I guess
