xabidh
You need to use either a 32bit ati init or Kabyl bootloader (is what I am using right now) with GraphicsEnabler set to Yes. You can find it here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1546946 it is still in beta as far as I understand but is working for me.... no sleep though i try this but dont works... I reinstall SL but don't works QE, any idea? I have install iatkos s3 v2 but i don't know the best configuration for my graphic card. What should I select? Aty-init? Ati Framebuffer? thanks

Here is mine: <dict> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>1</string> <key>Legacy Logo</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>DropSSDT</key> <string>Yes</string> </dict> That is what is working for me and not 100% I think but good enough

trimak
Off topic but I just wanted to say... Isn't it disgraceful that apple charge as a BASE price for their BEST mac pro: A$ 6,599.00 and only put an "ATI Radeon HD 5770 with 1GB GDDR5" in it which you can buy for A$ 138 ... People are getting ripped off by apple to a sickening degree

Hangten
Hello guys, I am a new user who wants to venture into this wonderful world that is the world's apple ....I decided to write because I need your advice ... Before you expose my problem I give you my configuration that I will later put in the signature itself ... my pc: Asus p6x58d Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 Toxic 1GB DDR5 12GB of DDR3 RAM 2 SATA 320 and one from a 500GB I think I have given you the basic information of my PC, now I expose my problem ... I installed version 10.6.2 Hazzard, I tried to upgrade to 10.6.4 and 10.6.5 but it was a total failure ... The problem is the video card ... During installation I am going to select the generic driver and the card he sees me as a 4800 series with 256mb ram and thus causing a flicker and no ability to select a more appropriate resolution to me ... I tried to wander around on various forums primarily foreigners but to no avail ... My question is this, there is a driver for my card or to fix this flicker? There I'd be grateful ... Thanks Alex Try ##### Additional info for your board or help.... goodluck Sense you have an X58, I'm very sure you can do a Vanilla Install. ovo
I did a kakewalk install about 5 months ago with a UD5 mobo and a 4870 no hassles recently my 4870 died so I put in a pcs+ 5870 for XP and started reading here. things have become much harder for me to understand in that time before I spend another day of reading and bore anyone with a lot of noob questions, will it be possible to get the 5870 working without an already functioning GPU, eg. can I put the OS into an external HD and make the changes needed from my MBP? I hate asking questions about things that appear 2nd nature to a lot of posters hear but all this terminology is hurting my head and making zero sense. Not totally sure but they do have the option for the experimental ATI boot loader in there so there is a good possibility that you will have success. Really what you should be doing is using an external USB or spare hard drive so you can clone your now working install to it then try all this on that drive without risking what you have now. bluppblupp
Ok now I'm really on the way, except I can't boot without ##### as it is now. What shall I do? I checked USERDSDT since I had a file for my motherboard. I checked System Utilities and under advanced settings I choose: Chameleon 2.0 RC4 by AsereBLN, 32-bit graphicsenabler=No, 64-bit Graphicsenabler=No and OSx86 Software. After I ran ##### I installed the kexts from netkas for my graphicscard. I removed the ##### disk and rebooted. The comp didn't really reboot so I had do make a hard reboot, and then it came to the white applescreen and then rebooted again. So i put the ##### disk in and it booted up just fine... Why isn't it working like it should? : ) I have gotten everything else I need to work, my D-Link DWA 140 USB N Draft dongle is working with Railink and everything else aswell, except for sleepmode, which I don't really need. thanks so much for your help! You need to pick the ATI Experimental as I said in the last post the RC4 is not the one needed it is the last one in the Chameleon section under the Advanced option. I've tried that one as well now, doesn't work. It just stays at the white screen with the apple logo. Well it doesn't stay, it just constantly loads. I've got everything else to work and I'm writing from my hackintosh right now, and I can live with having to use ##### to boot. Hit the F8 key when booting I believe it is to get to the Chameleon boot prompt when there type in then enter key -v so you boot in text mode here you will be able to see what the error is. This of course if you want to fix the error now there are various framebuffers that can be used depending on the card you may want to try them I think I remember seeing the list in Kabyl thread on his modified boot loader in this forum you may want to check them out. You can test each of them individually by getting to the boot prompt then using IIRC AtiFb=some_name_of _a_monkey as they are all named after the various species of them. Yes you can put it in external case then move the boot file to the / of it replacing the existing one and boot the other machine still with it in the case to make sure everything works then if good put it back into machine. About Eyefinity 4/5/6 i doubt that Apple/ATI support that yet. The bootloader: boot9 Bye. any chance for the source code? thanks

jag007
Hello. I switched from ATY_Init to Chameleon ATI Experiemental. The main reason for doing this, was to get fully 64bit, and to support my new Dell U2711, with 1560x1440 of resolution. My Hackintosh is X58A-UD3R rev 1.0 i7-930 ATI 5870 1GB. The monitor is connected using Dual-Link DVI, but resolution is only going to 1920x1080. When dualbooting into Win7, the resolution is 2560x1440. Seems like the system is not recognizing the cable as Dual-Link. Also tried to use Displayport, but then there where no output on the monitor. Anybody having a clue, how to get 2560x1440? /Jan
