Does anyone know how I can disable one of my 5870s? (without removing it ) Looks like my X3000 KPs may be due to my CFX setup as it detects 2 5870s, both in slot 1 somehow, right before the KP.

You could try adding the following to the Info.plist for the x3000 kext:

			<key>IOPCIClassMatch</key>
		<string>0x03000000&0xFFFF0000</string>

It goes straight after the list of device IDs in the Info.plist.

i.e. so that it looks like this:

Thanks, that does stop the X3000 KP but then ATI5000 errors......then I noticed I still had GE=No.....turn that on and get the fans and black screen.............guessing GE has issues with the dual cards from the get-go anyway

I find boot9 (I think it's V2) give me a black screen, no kp, no error, just black screen at stage when desktop should appear. (sorry for my bad English)

But boot7 adn boot8 works perfect with rom dumped from my gfx card.

My card is PowerColor HD5850.

Any way, thank you for the new booter, Trauma!

I hope it can work for you with boot9, because it can not work for my Asus EAH5850 with boot7, boot8 or boot9.

Have you found anyone whose ATI 5850 (not 5870 or 5770) can work with GraphicsEnabler = Y and UseAtiROM = Y in 64 bit kernel ?

The only disadvantage of ATY_init.kext is limited to 32 bit kernel to me.

How do you feel about ATY_init.kext ?

The bad news is that it can not work for 10.6.5 beta.

Hi everyone,

I’ve finally decided to try install Mac OS on my PC. I’ve been studying recently what I need to do to makes this happen. So I decided ask You guys for any help. So, basically I do know that it has been a huge problem with kexts to graphic card 5870. Unfortunately I do have one of them and that’s the reason why I’m here. My PC hardware is:

Asus Maximus III Formula

Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz

Sapphire Radeon HD5870 Vapor-X HDMI DisplayPort Dual-DVI 1GB

Corsair CMG4GX3M2A2000C8, 4GB (2x XMS3 2GB), PC-16000, 2000MHz, DDR3, 8-8-8-24, Dominator GT

I do have to versions of Mac OS:

iAtkos s3 Snow Leopard 10.6.3 intel

Mac OS X 10.6.3 retail

I did also found this web-page where you can find drivers and aty_init for 5870. The link to web-page is: http://netkas.org/?p=465

So the questions are:

How can I add this drivers and aty_init to one of MAC OS versions that I have? Basically I need to do this in Windows 7 as I’m using this system on my PC.

Which version of operation system is better iAtkos or retail?

I found also some information about EFI and DSDT. Can anyone explain how this 2 terms would relate to my Hackintosh?

I will be appreciate for any help.

first thing why you use iatkos and dont use retail retail we be best than modified dvds

so try setup retail

then update to 10.6.4

then install aty-init kext

or install boot file and graphicsenabler on boot.plist

then restart and install gfx update 1.0

I just bought a XFX 5870 (HD-587A-ZNF9) to replace my old 4870 512MB. I currently have a install with SL 10.6.4 and prepared for the 4870, but I'm really confused about how to install the 5870 on it. Wouldn't be time for cleanning up this thread or just write a tutorial on how to install those boards on SL? Seriously, I don't even know were to start from.

Hmm, checked your last post.. any specific reason you use legacy kernel btw? All Intel Core series cpu's can use the vanilla kernel just fine.. dunno if this is part of the problem.. Hi, I have succesfully installed driver for my 5850.

Everything is working, but fonts rendering is really bad, I've attached a screen, so you can see what I mean.

There is something I can do?

PS. The native resolution of my monitor is 1280x1024

PS2. With VESA driver fonts rendering was ok.

Nope. Vervet is the one that worked for me. Uakari would give me black screen and 100% load fan.

I was told to try Vervet in a different thread and it works like a charm.

Hi all,

Ok so… let me start from this that recently I found out that it is possible to install MacOS on PC computer. Now I’ve been trying to understand what do I need to do. I’ve got the image of MacOS 10.6.3 and I want to add/modify some kexts in “HFS+ Partition/System/Library/Extensions” – image path. To open and modify any files or folders I’m using “Magic ISO” software. So basically I know that I need to use Ati kext for my 5870 if I want to install MacOS. The kext for my graphic card I found here http://netkas.org/?p=465 . From here I can download aty_init and drivers. And now I have couple questions:

1. Do I need to copy aty_init kext to HFS+ Partition/System/Library/Extensions with the same name?

2. Do I need to add my device ID to the kext. I found the the device ID but where do I enter it in the info.plist?

3. Do I need to know about something else if I want to add kext to my ISO. ?

This is the simplest way to do it. No modifying of ISO's needed. If you're using a supported processor, use -3. If you're using an unsupported processor, use -2.

Anyone having troubles with resolution of 2560x1600? Every so often when I turn on my monitor (computer still on) it is filled with random pixel "snow".

My side monitors of 1600x1200 rotated have no problems. I have to rearrange my plugs and reduce resolution down to 1280x800 (single link) and then back up to 2560x1600. It will then proceed to confuse my side rotated monitors and display something like 1200x1200.

Sometimes it randomly blinks a blank screen and back to my desktop (repeatedly) when waking from sleep and I'll have to reduce res to 1280x800 and bump back up to 2560x1600.

Radeon HD5870 1GB w/boot7 method. Attached displays: 2 x Dell 2007FP, 1 x Dell 3007WFP-HC (through Sapphire active dual-link DVI display port adapter)

Well finally decided to get a new machine and a new GPU ; but will I be able to use it with osx ?

Reading here thanks to you guys i figured out that was feasible but did expext it a bit easier that what is it acutally.

I have some questions that i can't yet figure out: As far as now I have a semi working system using [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] and [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] however the video card seems not working properly. The cinebench 11.5 scores seems low too me compare them: my old q9450 with 8800gt cpu1=0.81 cpux=3.17 opengl=22.01 new i7 on win 7 cpu1=1.02 cpux=5.08 opengl=54.30 and on 10.6.4 cpu1=0.79 cpux=5.14 opengl 24.59. Now maybe it is due to the 32 bit aty_init things so I have decided to try to use Trauma san boot9 that I found in a previous post but How to?

As far as i understand it I should add this to the com.apple.Boot.plist

well that is my whole com..Boot... then use a rom of the GPU (IS GPU_Z rom ok?) rename it as 1002_6898.rom and put it in Extra\Extensions.

But I cannot replace the boot file it says it is invisible but I used the terminal to make it visible so i don't understand.

ATI5000Controller, ATIFramebuffer, ATISupport, ATY_Init - installed with kext helper and repaired with kext utility.

update:

Apple released a graphics update just a few days ago. Installed it and it enabled QE for me. Awesome!

Would anyone know anything about OpenGL Viewer? My 3.0 fails the test.

Well managed to have it work it took me for ever to figure out that the rom file should be placed in Extra and not in Extra/Extensions anyway thanks to Trauma boot 9 runs in 64bit with 2 displays but is weird I have the impression it is not stable yet, well it might wll dipend on my build I still have many unsolved issues.

Anyway I made the rom with CPUZ in win7 but I read somewhere that CPUZ is not good to dump room is it true? what should I do? My settings are in the signature below and the com.apple.Boot.plist is this

My boyfriend has the same card and he is whistling that mac is a fraud and does not support well hardware :unsure: , but i am sure that sooner or later you guys here will help me run it as he runs his or even better. BTW I am already scoring faster cpu performances with a broken setup

Just got work my Powercolor Radeon HD 5870 1GB (Non-Eyefinity ) with the last rv513 from the HD5770 Thread. Works fine w/o problems - 64bit, no fan problems.

Preparation:

- Make an ROM of my Powercolor in Windows ( Download here )

Install:

- Install Mac OSX Retail 10.6 with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]

- Upgrade to Mac OSX 10.6.4

- Install Chameleon 2 RC5 rv513 from here

- Puted the .rom File in /Extra

- Replace the old "Boot"-File with Khairy's "Boot"-File vom rv513-Trunk ( here )

- Edited my com.apple.Boot.plist with these Entries & Restart:

I think we are getting half the speed we should on osx I score 30,24 but 54,30 on Win7 cinebench 11.5;

about sponza who makes it can't find a download page for osx
