@Ingwar77: You were right, Graphics update does work, although i didn't need any of the USB Key stuff. I just installed the update and ran kext utility before rebooting and it worked.

 

Also a little update on my part (Graphics update didn't change anything btw). I had success setting up Dual Monitor (extended and mirror) with my Eyefinity 6 using to miniDP-to-DVI connectors on ports #3 and #6. The Screens are recognized as LCD and VGA though which results in only 4:3 resolutions selectable on the "VGA" one and up to 1920x1200 on the LCD (i would need 2560x1600 though)

 

Adding more than three (@0,@1,@2,@...) entries to ATY_Init seems to result in a KP, three work fine.

Changing the connector-types in ATY_Init doesn't seem to have any effect, it doesn't even change when i check them in IO Registry Explorer.

What I've done :

ATISupport.kext

 

ATIFramebuffer.kext

 

Rebuild caches and repair permissions using Kext Utility 2.4.2

 

Add the keys to com.apple.Boot.plist

<string>yes</string>

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>Yes</string>

 

Reboot, and enjoy

I have a HIS 5850 can i still use the rom you attached?

what version of chameleon are you using?

You may try extract your BIOS ROM using Radeon BIOS Editor

 

 

 

 

That boot file is somehow necessary

 

I tried switching that boot file with Chameleon 2 RC5 Trunk Rev384, only one DVI port shows on screen and QE/CI are off

 

 

 

 

Of course, BIOS ROM is a must, without it, black screen all the time.

 

 

 

 

Remark : Seems the HDMI port on my 5850 is not working if none of the DVI ports is connected

 

it's meaningless because we still have two DVI ports, just a reminder.

 

And of course......no ATY_init.kext is needed :D

rom is needed only if you want chamelon theme work with full resolution rather than 1024*768

just replace boot file in root with new one and add to boot plist

Merci Trauma! Works as described.

But i still got the display connector issues on my Eyefinity 6. Three Display connectors show up in System profiler but i can only use passive DVI Adapters which limit me to 1920x1200 on one display and to only 4:3 resolutions on the other.

 

Maybe the attached ROM helps, it's Powercolor 5870 2GB Eyefinity 6.

i tried your steps with my HIS 5850 but i get a ATIRadeonX3000 KP when i boot,

i ddint use a VROM

 

could it have something to do with that i did the Graphics update?

 

What i did:

1.made backup of 5000 kexts

2. added graphicsenabler to boot.plist

2.install GFX update via software update( selected dont restart yet)

3.ran kextutility

4. reboot (osx installed GFX update before reboot finished)

 

EDI\\ i messed up the GraphicsEnabler part in boot.plist but now my gfx fan runs at full speed w/ a black screen when i try to boot

6. atix3000 kp

7.booted to backup osx found that i miss spelled GraphicsEnabler, fixed it

10. booted (no black screen) but then got ati3000 KP again!

did you get resolution on boot (chamelon theme ) :wacko:

 

ok i think i know why it didnt work that boot7(boot) file you linked me to was meant for a 5770 VERVET a 5850, or mine at least needs the uakari framebuffer. i ran into this issue when i was using the Netkas method, i got the ATIRadeonx3000 KP and i had to go into ATY_Init and change the framebuffer to Uakari to get rid of the KP. so either i need to modify the boot file or the kexts in /S/L/E , i think

 

-just rembered all that now :D

I come back to you with a much more cleaner integration of HD500 cards in GraphicsEnbaler. People experiencing 100% Fan with black screen (like me, Sapphire HD5770 1Go) have to use a ROM file, for the moment.

 

for me boot file work with need for rom

i got a black screen with graphics enabler with the new boot file so i put my rom in extra and then it booted but KP'd on x3000 kext again
