hoelmkjaer
Hello people. I'll try to make this short. I am aware that google is my friend, and that similar questions have been asked and answered a thousand times - and both have helped me to a certain extent. But I'm still left with a few questions that I was hoping someone would answer for me here. I've tried installing about 7 different distros of OSX86, with varying success. In the end I managed to get it booting off the hdd, only to freeze and crash on that gray screen with the apple logo on it. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get it past that point, and I think the main reason was that, frankly, I had no idea what I was doing. I'm pretty sure I didn't select the proper kexts, but then again, I believe I tried all the relevant options. To the point: My specs (HP Pavillion DV6836eo): CPU: AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-64 Motherboard: Manufacturer; Quanta - model; 30D0 - Chipset: nForce 520 BIOS: Hewlett-Packard version F.2F Memory: 1x 1024mb PC2-5300 and 1x 2048mb PC2-5300 Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS Network: Broadcom 4321AG 802.11a/b/g/draft-n And I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Will add whatever you ask me to. Basically what I'd like to know is which distro would be my best bet. As far as I can see there are a few problems with the nForce 520 chipset, but I might be mistaken. The one I have the best experience with is the "xxx 1.5.6 AMD" distro. Thanks in advance, it's much appreciated Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/189544-osx-on-a-hp-dv6836-solved/ Share on other sites
vilpostus
Use -v flag then installing/booting. This will provide you with some info on where it is has stopped. hoelmkjaer
Will do. Cheers EDIT: It gets stuck on MAC Framework successfully initialized using xxxxx buffer headers and xxxx cluster IO buffer headers I see there's a lot of people out there with the same problem, so I'm currently trying their solutions. -f and -x don't work, same problem. Ideas are still appreciated Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/189544-osx-on-a-hp-dv6836-solved/#findComment-1285582 Share on other sites
