Hi,

Can someone help please?

I'm trying to do a fresh install using the guide and it's just not working. My computer reboots on install bootup when I follow the instructions. It's really getting to me.

Thanks,

-Tom

Are you using the same hardware in this guide? Could you please post your specs?

Hey,

Thanks for replying.

Same mobo, P6T SE with 0808 BIOS.

980x CPU

6 GB 1600MHz DDR 3

GTX 470, but I've tried 7300GS or something like that with same result (reboot when booting the flash stick).

Tried various busratio=25, -x, -f, arch=i386, maxmem=4096, etc.

Thanks,

-Tom

Make sure you're using the newest dsdt, since you're using a newer cpu. That's all the help I can give you, I'm not too experienced myself.

This is as far as it gets before it reboots. I tried using the DSDT posted here for the 980x with the same result.

Hey,

Only 1 SATA SSD and SATA DVD drive. I tried booting with legacy kernel 10.6.4 and it got farther, but also rebooted eventually. :)

im not sure....

i think thats your problem do they have the option to set as AHCI?

Yep, AHCI.

I installed an SSD in my MacBook Pro. It shows up just as a regular drive.

Sorry, My graphics card is a radeon hd 4850.

I got audio working, I had a kext that I originally put in the extra/extensions, but I realized it actually goes into s/l/e.

I'll try what you have here when I get home, I'll reply immediately after I try it.

Thanks,

Para Vorheim

i did a quick research and i think ssd is in fact supported....

try using my extra folder (2 posts above) and post results

dont forget that my dsdt is for i7 920 cange if you need

Hey,

Thanks. I got it installed somehow with the legacy kernel, your extra folder, and maxmem=4096. I am going try to update to 10.6.4, oh boy. It would restart with my GTX 470 so I'm using some generic Nvidia 7300 for now. I'm expecting a disaster! hahahahaha

Thanks mate.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I got 10.6.4 vanilla booting now with all 6 gigs of ram and no extra boot parameters required! Here's a proof:

If anyone has problems with a setup similar to mine, please ask. Now I just gotta get my GTX 470 working. Phew :)

I have a 4870 so it should work for you...

Do you have injectors like natit or anything similar?

You can manually set the resolution on boot plist

<string>GraphicsMode</string>

<key>1600x1200x32</key>

you can change the resolution as you like

Try booting with -f maybe will help and fix permissions

I have tried -f -v before...I don't think that would work. I'll try the graphics enforcing. How do I know if qe/ci is working. I've heard that if chess works then qe/ci works, but chess is really laggy for some reason.

I tried the string in boot.plist. It didn't work.

Wolverine, I know this sounds weird, but do you think you could get on some kind of chat client and take a look at a video feed from a webcam or something? I think that if you actually see the problem, it would be a lot easier for you to help me.

@paravorhein

Take a look at this its from netkas blog

readeon 4830/4850 – new framebuffer has same problem as leopard’s – inability to work without dvi2vga dongle in second port, to fix it – use 10.6.2 framebuffer, to do it – make backups of the following kexts before update:ATI4800Controller.kext

ATISupport.kext

ATIFramebuffer.kext

Restore there kexts from backup after update and before reboot, or, if you already rebooted after update – use dvi2vga dongle to get display, and replace those files.

maybe take a look here too
