TomBuntu
Hey, Thanks for replying. Same mobo, P6T SE with 0808 BIOS. 980x CPU 6 GB 1600MHz DDR 3 GTX 470, but I've tried 7300GS or something like that with same result (reboot when booting the flash stick). Tried various busratio=25, -x, -f, arch=i386, maxmem=4096, etc. Thanks, -Tom
syn909
Does anyone else have this problem that esata devices and firewire only work if you have them plugged in before booting? PS: I am using ifabios DSDT Thanks, Taylor

That's all the help I can give you, I'm not too experienced myself.

This is as far as it gets before it reboots. I tried using the DSDT posted here for the 980x with the same result. -Tom

I got it installed somehow with the legacy kernel, your extra folder, and maxmem=4096. I am going try to update to 10.6.4, oh boy. It would restart with my GTX 470 so I'm using some generic Nvidia 7300 for now. I'm expecting a disaster! hahahahaha Thanks mate. -Tom
TomBuntu
Thanks for all the suggestions. I got 10.6.4 vanilla booting now with all 6 gigs of ram and no extra boot parameters required! Here's a proof: If anyone has problems with a setup similar to mine, please ask. Now I just gotta get my GTX 470 working. Phew -Tom
paravorheim
The computer boots fine, but resolution is still 1024 x 768. I'm gonna try some stuff, since this is AsereBLN (right?) that I saw from other forums regarding my graphics card.
_Wolverine_
I have a 4870 so it should work for you... Do you have injectors like natit or anything similar? You can manually set the resolution on boot plist <string>GraphicsMode</string> <key>1600x1200x32</key> you can change the resolution as you like Try booting with -f maybe will help and fix permissions
paravorheim
I have tried -f -v before...I don't think that would work. I'll try the graphics enforcing. How do I know if qe/ci is working. I've heard that if chess works then qe/ci works, but chess is really laggy for some reason. I tried the string in boot.plist. It didn't work. paravorheim
Wolverine, I know this sounds weird, but do you think you could get on some kind of chat client and take a look at a video feed from a webcam or something? I think that if you actually see the problem, it would be a lot easier for you to help me.
paravorheim
Your flashdrive worked in booting os x on 10.6.0, but I had to do the following, taken from someone else on this forum. -s /sbin/mount -uw / cd /system/library/extensions rm -r ATI* rm -r Natit.kext* Just thought you should know. _Wolverine_
@paravorhein Take a look at this its from netkas blog readeon 4830/4850 – new framebuffer has same problem as leopard’s – inability to work without dvi2vga dongle in second port, to fix it – use 10.6.2 framebuffer, to do it – make backups of the following kexts before update:ATI4800Controller.kextATISupport.kext ATIFramebuffer.kext Restore there kexts from backup after update and before reboot, or, if you already rebooted after update – use dvi2vga dongle to get display, and replace those files. maybe take a look here too http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=155477
