Bchemist
Thanks ktfn, that kext has better audio quality, but alas, only the same audio port works. This question made me curious....so I went to the Apple website. Check this out: http://www.apple.com/macpro/specs.html The Mac Pro....the "King" of Audio/Video seems to have 1 audio out! It begs the question if most or all other macs are like this as well? In the case of Audio/Video editing you wouldn't use PC or home speakers anyway since it they don't give you an accurate perspective of the sound you are producing on a "universal" level. For that you need firewire based audio interfaces and then reference monitors that are not played for the sake of enjoyment since you wouldn't turn them up past a loud speaking tone due to needing clarity and minimizing sensory fatigue. This is ironic since the best of the lower end reference speaker sets cost about $3000 and go up from there...again you never turn them up loud even though their magnets are very heavy duty...just like a CRT HD reference video monitor costs about $25,000 where it's about universal playability...not about your personal enjoyment. Again this would explain why there isn't much in-between what is used by pros and Mac purists (poseurs) who spend $2500 for a laptop mainly to check their e-mail at Starbucks. I've seen Hacks use multi-speaker setups where more than one port works, but now I'm really beginning to wonder if it was multi-channel sound. Instead it was probably just the same channels with an additional layer at each port. But I'm just speculating. Even though my MacBook can handle Logic Studio and is promoted as such (although it's painful and I wouldn't recommend any pro-end work until i7 hits Mac tops...to crash prone and slow) it just has the standard headphone out and regular notebook speakers. So I may be wrong, but this may one of those things that we cannot fix since Mac doesn't seem to support it in the least.
slaine
Just wanting to check on this first. Is it safe to apply the Security Update 2010-001 release on the 10.6.2 install ? I can't really afford any downtime so don't want to risk it without confirmation.

marc5
Dual monitors are now working for me, XFX 4870 512, under 10.6.2. Before the update be sure to delete the sleep enabler kext to avoid kernel panic. Waking from sleep almost works now. The monitor does wake up now and I can see most of my desktop but the screen is still partly scrambled. I'm going to try qe_ci_exotic_10.6.2 and the 10.6.2 sleep enabler from netkas to see if I get anywhere. It seems like the 4870 should be fully supported under 10.6.2. EDIT: after update, no more audio support! -> actually HD audio is working from the port built into my case, but not the audio port directly on the board (the one on the back). sorry if I sound condesending but did u try to change the output from the audio pref pane? I got all all 3 working, forward rear and spdif. I also use a nifty program from rogue amoeba that places an icon at the menu bar, that allows me to change outputs on the go. RNA Helicase
sorry if I sound condesending but did u try to change the output from the audio pref pane? I also use a nifty program from rogue amoeba that places an icon at the menu bar, that allows me to change outputs on the go. *sigh* I'm an idiot, I DO have both audio ports working, I just have to select them; thanks for the heads up! Are you using sound source from rogue amoeba? On my linux partition both ports are enabled by default so I guess I expected the same behavior. marc5
How much of an improvement if any does this new bootloader add? I've got a perfectly working hackintosh with chamleon v2 r4. thanks oq well, so far its 2 kexts less and the memory speed and manufacturer is autodetected. no need to edit the smbios.plist. Performance wise, the boot file is smaller. Everyother improvement is transparent i suppose. @rnahelicase, well, it happens. as long as it works. Bigredfirecracker
Network sharing issues. I've got 2 p6t se 920 i7 hackintoshs running 10.6.1 from the tut at the start of this thread I use them as render nodes for c4d running 64bit and mostly everything works fine connecting to them from a macpro. BUT Sometimes I can see them and exchange files and other time they don't play ball and I get a message saying the server can't be found or words to that effect. I've tried updating one of them to 10.6.2 but then it just KP on bootup. Anyone else had this, knows and answer? Cheers

Had to boot with -x the first few times though because of my graphics card (NVidia GeForce GT220) - will be typing up a guide for that soon. Thanks again, brilliant! japhex
When re-encoding on handbrake64 (the same file as a benchmark) I get way faster fps if using nullcpupowermanagement... any toughts? (not using c1e or c-states, just plain 920+ht) PS: with the mp4.1 speedstep dsdt fix i get the same fps. (Bchemist does the same on his dsdt)

(not using c1e or c-states, just plain 920+ht) I have done alot of work on the p6t non deluxe model. Please check out my latest posts at fleebailey33.org And if you guys use any of it just please leave nice comments and give credit. I got lots of stuff working. Also it is a modded chameleon rc4 by prasys that included many of those fixes from that new bootloader, but more fine tuned for a p6t, i figure it should be very similar for your board.
