takerusarasa
I have successfully installed 10.6.2 (combined) update to an 10.6 on X300 . I can use bluetooth ! But I have no sound. I don't know why ? thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/188728-howto-turn-your-x300-in-to-a-hackintosh-with-snow-leopard/page/2/#findComment-1406649 Share on other sites
Thunder82
Just to confirm, the x300 w/ Intel X3100 graphics will load with QE/CI support? Also, I very much appreciate this how-to. I'm looking at picking up an x300 as the hardware seems to be a pretty good match for osx. blombergkjell
Hi, Thanx for the really good kexts :-) This really saved my day ! I now have my X300 running 10.6.3 with full sleep, speedstep and working audio. Wlan switched to a broadcom 4312 chip that works AWSOME ! the speed is slamming fast man ! I had a problem with crackling sound after wake from sleep, but I got my hands on a file called VOODOOHDACrackleFix (its a pkg file), after this the sound is working after wake from sleep. I do not remember where I got the file but if someone needs it just PM me and I can send it to you. Once again thanx for all the great help in this thread. btw, the x300 is a waaaaay better OS X machine than it is a windows machine hehe ! kth
Hi, Can you post how you got it all installed, which distribution you used, ktexts etc? I have a x300 and fancy putting OSX Leopard on it. Thanks, Keith Hi, Thanx for the really good kexts :-) This really saved my day ! outZider
So, I was able to have the X3100 drivers work natively with a DSDT fix, which got rid of a few other dependencies. I'm curious if anyone is running 10.6.4 and still able to sleep their machine? No matter what, mine wants to wake up every time. Installing the kexts in the guide just make USB functionality fail. Any luck? I'd be happy to post my updated DSDT. outZider
Okay, solved the USB sleep issue with another DSDT fix. The enclosed DSDT includes gnychis' brightness fix, as well as the x3100 enabler for the native driver (no need for additional installer), and the fix for EHCI sleep. Note that you will most likely have to flip the wireless hard switch off before the machine will sleep. Now to figure out volume control... kth
All sounds very promising, I think I might wait for you to get it all working before I try it! Are you planning on publishing a full guide for this? outZider
All sounds very promising, I think I might wait for you to get it all working before I try it! Are you planning on publishing a full guide for this? I'd be happy to, if needed. Hopefully, gnychis logs in to update the front post, because not a lot has changed. Everything, as far as I've used, is working. I ended up using iATKOS' 10.6.3 disc off of "the bay" to start. I then updated to 10.6.4. By installing the DSDT.aml posted above, you can skip the sleep fixes and the x3100 drivers in the first post. Those all work the way they should. It still includes the standard fixes, as well as the brightness fix from gnychis, so you can control your brightness with the scroll lock/pause keys. You do still need to get the SleepEnabler for whatever version of OS X you're running. My wireless card is an Apple Airport Extreme card plugged into the second miniPCIe socket. It does not screw down, and kinda bulges. I'm still waiting for the BIOS hack from zender or anyone else on that forum in the meantime. I used the VoodooHDA from this thread as the default does not let you adjust the volume. This one works peachy. To get Energy Saver to work right, I edited /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist and added keys for SystemType and system-type (as I'm not sure which one works. heh.) and set them both to "2", so OS X knows you're on a laptop. If you still need ethernet, the Intel 82566 driver in this thread works great. Gigabit ethernet, no issues. blombergkjell
Hi, I used the guide above. Followed it step by step. When installing OSX86 make sure that you use the Voodoo kernel and you should be good. I am guesssing most distros should be ok as long as it contains the Voodoo kernel and you make the installation as clean as possible. And then install kext from the post above. Kjell Hi, Can you post how you got it all installed, which distribution you used, ktexts etc? I have a x300 and fancy putting OSX Leopard on it. user2345
Okay, solved the USB sleep issue with another DSDT fix. The enclosed DSDT .... Could you post the DSDT with the USB sleep issue fixed too, or did you include it in the DSDT linked above? (trying to make SL work; I'll keep you posted) btw, I bypassed the WiFi problem with a ~$15 eBay Netgear WG111v3 USB stick. Not the most elegant way but it works. edit: I updated to the DSDT.aml linked above and after booting with Chameleon 2.0 RC 4 and "arch=i386" most things work. I had a 10.6.2 install with the original gnychis .kexts and a customized DSDT to make work the Intel X3100 with 1440x900x32 and external screens. I updated it with the 10.6.4 Combo Updater and got the DSDT and VoodooHDA linked in posts #30 and #33. After reboot I let 'System Update' install all there was to install and reboot again. Seems to work fine for the moment, I'm curious if different bugs I had before will keep coming. edit2: Eventhough I use the DSDT from outZider #30, in order to get the Sleep mode working, I had to in install the EHCISleepEnabler.kext from gnychis SleepFix. Without the kext, the computer always woke up after 3 seconds, no matter if I turned off WiFi or unplugged all USB devices. Now it works and I don't have to turn WiFi off or unplug any USB device. The 10.6.4 SleepEnabler.kext is installed too. Since I got crackling sound after wakeup, I had to install the VoodooHDACrackleFix.pkg too. - on an older iPC 10.5.6 install I had, had the Bluetooth working, so I'll try to fix that one too. Until now I tried to install some kext from the old installation, but disaster struck and I'll have to keep looking for another solution.
