Hello,

I have an Imac 24" alu with Leopard and I just bought a macbook pro with SL.

I was wondering if I could install/upgrade my Imac with the DVD given with the macbook pro (specific for this model) but it says: "Mac os x 10.6 cannot be installed on this computer", even when I try a fresh new installation.

Is there some kind of hardware check before installation?

Is there a workaround or a patch for this?

Thanks,

The SL disks that came with your Macbook Pro work only for your macbook pro.

It's $29-35 for a brand spanking new retail copy; or you can download and burn a dmg to a dual-layer DVD at the lowest speed, or restore the dmg to a usb drive and boot Option-boot from it to install.

maybe there's already a topic about this subject but:

Is there a way to install SL from scratch with the 29$ upgrade or do you absolutely need to install Leopard and then upgrade it to SL?

I did a fresh install of snow leopard on my mac mini and it worked fine. You don't need to upgrade from your leopard osx.

Also what I found was that my SL install plus software uses half of HDD space as compared to my leopard install with the same amount of software.
