Hey peeps, audio is pretty much the only problem I have right now:

I'm on 10.6 with the Test7 AMD kernel, and AppleHDA refuses to load at runtime. Here's the log:

You can reinstall it after 10.6.3 update.

I haven't had much luck now though... I repaired my disk permissions as there were loads of bad ones... after that these kexts give a KP so I had to boot with -v -x and remove them... I've tried everything but the only thing I have now is VoodooHDA.kext working on my ALC888S chip - I have tried reinstalling these drivers over and over but it won't have it any more. I hope there will be an update for these kexts.

No luck with this. Haven't been able to get sound up at all. VoodooHDA invariably triggered KP on boot; after adding these two kexts, the audio device shows up in System Profiler, but no dice in System Preferences. I do see a few AppleHDA glitches during boot:

With all the DSDT editing and whatnot floating around i desperately sought after a simpler solution. This method uses HDEFEnabler, a x64 version of HDAEnabler from Taruga, and a patched AppleHDA of unknown origins (if you know it belongs to you let me know and i will add your name for credit).

These cant be installed to an efi partition, and have to go in /S/L/E, but if it saves me time and confusion from editing the dsdt i really dont care.

I just installed them using KextHelper which surprisingly works well in 10.6. It will back up your original AppleHDA to /Backup Extensions, so if you need it back you can find it there.

This may also work with other codecs but all i have around here are 888 so i cant test anything else.

The kexts are attached, please report if this worked or not along with your motherboard model. I havent tested this extensively, but as far as i can tell it gives me 5.1 surround on my GA-EP45T-UD3LR

Hey man,

I was really hoping to make use of your solution because I too hate the DSDT angle of things and have had no luck with it so far.

I tried your solution however to no avail.

Has there been any progress on this?

I'm running:

10.6.3

Gigabyte GA G41M-ES2L

ASUS GTX 285

2 GIGs of generic Ram

Installing these kexts did not give me volume control or list my devices in the sound options, although the system profiler DOES now say:

Intel High Definition Audio:

Device ID: 0x1458A002

Audio ID: 12

Available Devices:

Line Out:

Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack

External Microphone:

Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack

External Microphone:

Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack

Headphone:

Connection: 1/8-Inch Jack

S/P-DIF Out:

Connection: Combo

S/P-DIF In:

Connection: Combo

Any ideas would be MAJORLY appreciated.

I got audio working with these , iAtkos S3 v2 (-v busratio=20 to install) and not selecting any audio on the disc during install, then install these with kext helper.

Now all I need is vid. I'm too afraid to try and update to 6.4 since I have working audio now with 6.3.

thanks.

Just to share, I found this 2 kext(works with 32 & 64 bit) working charm with my ALC888. Previously, my audio bass was like been boost :)

PS: I didnt try the headphone thou..

Credit belongs to the orig. creator of kext

Thank you for the link

This 2 kexts are working charm for my GA-X58-UD5 rev.1 ALC889a

Headphone sounds good, but a bit quietly

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I installed this on my first Hazard SL 10.6 install, worked fine, I had to reinstall and it doesn't make the sound work, the only thing I did differently this time is choose ACL888a kexts in the Customize menu while installing, and system profiler sees it :@

cheers in advance

The kext loads for me, but there are no output or input devices. AppleAzaliaAudio Works for my green output, but that's it. VoodooHDA works for some of my ports but they are mixed and very distorted.

Specs:

AMD

10.6.4 (10A432)

GA-MA770T-UD3P

ALC888

Modbin's mach_kernel.test7

Man I just wanted to say a big Thank you for helping me get my hack together. Up all night until I found this article. The Nightmare is over. GA EP41 UD3L Board is running 100% audio.

Hello,

I've got the GA EP41 UD3L and I have installed the two kexts in Snow Leopard 10.6.4. The sound works and but i've got a lot of kernell panics went starts. When i Start in verbose mode usually goes well. I do the installation whith Myhack installer.

1) Do you have the same problem?

2) What program use for install the two ketx, kext helper or Kext Utility?

3) When are the kext, in S/L/E or E/E?

4) Do you install the two kexts (AppleHDA HDAenabler) or only AppleHDA?

Thank you and sorry for my english!!
