Good God, I made it work.

Just deleted all the ATI*.kext's in /System/Library/Extensions/

But, because of my PS/2 keyboard, It says that I need to connect the keyboard first. So I went to Chameleon site and downloaded a package named VoodooPS2.pkg and installed it.

Now it won't boot again. And I'm really pissed.cjsejklcvwecj2klvlSCREWTHIS

Yes you can

I have still got a few questions:

What is the best and easiest method to boot OSX? I don't understand what is the best method. I know about Chameleon, but must I install it on the harddisk on the same partition as SL? Or must there be an other partition for Chameleon and install it there. Is this a correct install methord?:Boot Windows installation delete windows partions, exit setup. install iDeneb, restore SL disk to a partition, make a partition for Chameleon, install it there and then reboot. Boot Chameleon partition, select boot from SL install partition. Install Snow leopard. Restart complete setup wizard, update to latest version of snow leopard. Make everything work. Delete the SL install media partition, delete iDeneb partition. Reboot start windows installation, install windows on an other harddrive. And than always boot with Chameleon? Can I choose in the Chameleon bootloader also to boot Windows or Mac OSX or is it only for Mac OS X.

Please tell me if it's correct what I wrote her, If not please correct me. (I'm a noob with this)

You are right up till here:

Delete the SL install media partition, delete iDeneb partition. Reboot start windows installation, install windows on an other harddrive. And than always boot with Chameleon? Can I choose in the Chameleon bootloader also to boot Windows or Mac OSX or is it only for Mac OS X.

Before deleting the SL install media partition, you must copy all the Kexts in the Boot parition from Extra\Extensions on to the Snow leo parition /Extra/Extensions. Then use Kext utility to repair.

Then get the Chameleon bootloader from the chameleon site, RC2 one, its a .PKG. Run it, then once its done, from the chameleon site, get the newest bootloader RC3, extract to your desktop. Go into the folder thats extracted and in i386 folder, copy boot file to your Snow Leo root.

Then reboot your pc, and hopefully itll boot Chameleon, with the Snow Leop partition selected as default. Boot it! see how it goes.

Problem lies here, if you cant get in, you need the other OSX installation on a different HDD to boot back into a OSX to edit the Snow leo parition. I had problems, forgot to copy the Extra folder from my Boot partition (restored one) to the actual Snow leo parition, therefore bootup failed.

Only way to get into OSX (any) was to use a different HDD, then swap the boot order in bios, or a USB with Snow Leo restored to it - In this case i did have this, i booted from it and copied the Extra folder over to the Snow Leo root.

Then it booted perfect, all works apart from sleep and IDE DVD in 64bit mode.

Lastly, by restoring Snow leo installer to a HDD partition it will not boot in 64 bit mode, you will need to use the -x32 and arch=i386 commands to get it to boot and not KP, otherwise i got KP when i reached the desktop.

Good luck, ask more questions, i will help.

My config:

Asus P5Q deluxe

Q6600 3.4ghz

4Gb ram

Sapphire ATi 4850 512mb

AD2000b Audio - onboard

Ethernet working

Lastly you may need PlatformUUID.kext, google it. It will require you to put the UUID of the HDD you want to install Snow to.

When i booted my partition that contained the resotred Snow leo installer, i used commands -x -v -f cpus=1 arch=i386 -x32

And i have not tried booting Windows through Chameleon, i dont want to do any damage jsut in case, i just change the boot device order in bios to get into Windows.

oke, thank you. If i restore the Snow leopard disk to my 8GB Kingston datatraveler. Is that easier? Then I can simply make 2 partitions. How does it work with a USB drive? Because I want to use 64 bit (if possible)

P5Q PRO

Intel Q9550

Asus 4850

4GB RAM

I saw that you also have a ATI 4850, does it work completly?

Yes use a USB its easier.

follow this guide

http://lifehacker.com/5351485/how-to-build...start-to-finish

To make your own DSDT.aml, dont use the one in the guide, use this thread

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=142434

Theres an application that allows you to make your own, replace it with the one in the guide, (put in /Extra Folder once restored)

Yoe need a few Kexts, i need to boot my SL install to upload them, but youll need to put them in the Extra/Extensions folder on the USB once its been restored.

Then make it bootable like the guide shows, then its done, boot from it, -x -v -f -x32 -arch=i386 cpus=1. Install, then once you boot you need to do what i saind in the previous post to make the Snow Leo partition boot, then you can remove the USB and it should boot if the right drive is set in the bios.

Sapphire ATi 4850 512mb works fully.

Having dinner give me a few hours to get the folder uplaoded.

Yes you could use modified bios instead of DSDT.aml.

Heres the Extra folder you need to add to the USB once youve resotred the Snow Leo image to it:

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=eb1696e...04e75f6e8ebb871

Delete the DSDT.aml file in there if your using the bios mod

Then from here follow the Lifehacker guide to make it bootable

*TIP* Install your iDeneb first, i would make a partition for Snow leo 1st, then make one for iDeneb 2nd, so when you get rid of iDeneb after Snow is done, the First partition is Snow, and you have one large partition to do what ever you want, even extend the Snow partition.

One question more, where must I install Chameleon bootloader. I don't understand that part, if I install from my usb. Where must I install Chameleon? On my USB? On the same partition as SL installation, On an other partition as the SL installation? If I have to install Chameleon on an own partition, what must be the size? 1GB?

I began my installation this evening. But i'm stuck at iDeneb. After it says installation succesfull it reboots. Then it goes wrong, it can't find the harddisk and keeps booting from dvd. What to i wrong?

The bootloader only says: hd(111,0) iDeneb 10.5.6, that is the dvd, i can't choose my harddisk.

When I boot with -v it says:

devfs_kernel_mount: failed to find directory '/dev', 2panic(cpu 0 etc.

Debugger called: panic

What must I do?

try booting the install disk again, go into utilities and select startup disk, select the disk you installed iDeneb too and click restart, hopefully it works.

I got it to work, I typed rd=disk0s2 and voila. I'm now restoring to sl install dvd to my thumb drive.

*I also got a Sitecom WL-302 USB WIFI adapter, there are Sitecom drives for 10.5 (I tried it on iDeneb but with iDeneb i get a KP. Earlier this year it worked. (it instals restarts but then it says NO DEVICE in the Sitecom Utility.) but not for 10.6, will it work? If not I will stop Mac OS X because without internet, i will get problems with school. And i think it is useless
