[GUIDE] Scripted Yosemite/Mavericks Install on Gigabyte Mobos

Just wanted to add something in regards to sleep. Mine works perfectly, except if it sleeps for an extended period of time or is using a usb webcam and i force sleep. KP right away upon wake.

So in reading around I find that a real Mac sleeps in a state that would more closely resemble s1 in the bios and not s3.

So I changed it about a week ago, and even with the sapphire hd4870, not a single problem.

I was wondering if I am the only one who got KP's after a long sleep or a forced sleep while the usb webcam is actually recording.

Now I can honestly say that my rig is completly mac. Dual monitors, win7 64 bit in vmfusion.

No matter how I try I can no longer even force a KP.

Of course none of this would be possible without DD's guide, and again a big thank you.

Charles,

Here is the boot log (didn't want to clutter the thread with 300 lines) http://rapidshare.com/files/367989619/system.log.html Mobo firmware is F12. But I think you meant to upgrade the LG GH20NS15 DVD drive firmware. There are no events in Console when the DVD drive cycles itself. Anyway, there is one strange thing in the log.

com.apple.kextd[10]: Can't create kext cache under / - owner not root.

Owner is "503". I suppose its easy enough to fix. Just wonder if anyone else ran into that. I'm pretty sure I did a stock virgin install like described above.

Other strange behavior out of the gate is, something like a sleep of death. When I come back to the computer after its been inactive for maybe 20 minutes, and tap on the keyboard, it wakes up, by which I mean, it powers up and (re-) boots! I tried pushing the sleep interval out in the control panel. Anyone else run into this?

Cheers,

Jim

Hi Jim,

I took a lot at the log file you sent and it doesn't really give me any clues to why your DVD drive is acting the way it is. No program seems to be accessing it. Did you try updating the firmware?

Hi there,

I have a perfectly working hackintosh (snow leopard 10.6.2) with the Radeon 4870 HD graphics card using the GA-EX58-UD5 (thank you for all your help already!). I use this card for my DVI display. So no problems here .

But I also have an (old) tv in my room, who only has an S-video (and scart) connectors. With my previous hackintosh (with an Radeon x1950 pro card), the s-video port of that card was recognised and i could simply connect my hackintosh with my tv and see my series/movies on that screen.

But because the s-video port on my Radeon 4870 HD can't be recognized, I can't connect my hackintosh to my TV.

So here's my question:

Can I use 2 graphics cards in one hackintosh? So for example the Radeon 4870 HD, which I use for my monitor and the radeon x1950 pro, which I use for my TV.

So no SLI or Crossfire here, just 2 graphics cards who work independently, giving image to 2 different displays...

Joy.

I notice from the list of fixes included in 10.6.3:

- improve sleep and wake reliability when using Bonjour wake on demand

I've found a sleepenabler.kext that works on every version of snow leopard (10.6.3 INCLUDED). This sleepenabler.kext is made by several people through a google code project, so ALL credit goes to them :D, I'm only here to bring you the good news xD.

I have a Ga-EX58-UD5 motherboard and have already tested this sleepenabler myself and it works! Don't forget to turn on the option "Start up automatically after a power failure" in the Energy Saver preference pane!

Link: http://code.google.com/p/xnu-sleep-enabler/

On the right side you will see a sleepenabler for every version of snow leopard or a "universal" sleepenabler that works on any version. I have already tried the universal sleepenabler.

Enjoy sleep and enjoy 10.6.3!

Hey All,

I have a couple problems I need to resolve. Unfortunately I have not really been investing time into keeping my Snow Leopard Core i7 up to date. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could help me with the following

Update to 10.6.3

Fixing the Sleep problem - (installing sleepenabler.kext didn't worked)

Well, Thanks in advanced!

Upgraded to 10.6.3 but no joy here.... immediate KP upon reboot.

I tried going into single user mode, deleting EVDOreboot in Extra/ and rebuilding the kext caches ... now OSX just hangs with a spinning pinwheel on reboot.

Any tips on what to try next? I tried disabling 64 bit mode, disabling Ethernet and sound - no joy. Same spinning pinwheel.

Also - can someone remind me of the exact commands to update the kext cache using Chameleon's Extra/ folder so I know I did it correctly?

anyone update to 10.6.3 with a ATI4870 card using EVOenabler.kext file and get no video?

on 10.6.2, with my ati 4870 i was able to just use graphicsenabler=yes without any aty or evo kext files.

after 10.6.3, my screen goes to power saving.

i can only VNC into the machine...

any suggestions?

I don't use evoenabler, just aty.ini and 10.6.2 exotic card package and never had a problem.

As well as evoreboot, openhaltrestart gave me a kp on shutdown.

And my 4870 is fully functional.

My 4870 HD card is also working perfectly :s... I'm using AsereBLN booter with graphicsenabler=yes. I don't use any other kexts like Evoenabler/ATY_Init...

Same finding here with UD5 and native sound working (like Netkas said on his blog) but strugling with my ATI4850 graphiccard now with framebuffer issue !

Netkas solutions didn't work for me !

Under 10.6.2 my card was perfect with Evoenabler.kext and LegacyATI4800Controller.kext

:D

Same problems with ATI4850 initialy

Installed latest QE CI Exotic cards 10.6.3.pkg from Netkas and now it’s OK but have to leave dvi2vga dongle in second port !

I have EvoEnabler.kext and LegacyATI4800controller.kext in /Extra
