[GUIDE] Scripted Yosemite/Mavericks Install on Gigabyte Mobos

I Cant help with KP if I dont know what is causing it and where. You'll have to provide a picture of the KP or your log file.

If you used DD's script then you do have timeout in your plist. In order to choose which disk to boot from, just hit a key when chameleon counts down before snow boots. that is the screen right after Verifying DMI pool data, where you have the chameleon logo and the progress bar.

Include your kexts setup as well

i think i had the same issue, and i managed to resolve the shutdown/reboot problem by using EVOReboot

CruiSAr,

I followed your installation method and I have 10.6.2 in 64 bits, sleep + resume work

1) I noticed on my installation, during boot, there are some warnings (or are they errors?) message related to audio.

Example:

09-12-18 5:37:56 PM kernel Sound assertion "0 != result" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-179.1.4/AppleHDA/AppleHDAWidget.cpp" at line 3641 goto handler

Is this normal? However the message, the sound works.

2) I have to use EVOReboot as above

3) I am using PC EFI 10.5 and must use GraphicsEnabler = Y , I tried added EFI String but the screen is garbled and I guess it freezes as well, because I cannot see anything.

4) My generic CSR based USB Bluetooth dongle doesn't work after resume. I ordered a TRUST brand and waiting for it to arrive.

Again thanks for your mini setup guide.

Cheers

1. This is normal. VooDooHda is still a kext in development so it is not yet 100% done.

2. I dont use Evoreboot but I suppose this has to do with ATI hardware.

3. EFI strings are mainly for Nvidia if I remember correctly so I think your solution was the ideal choice.

4. Yeah trust BT dongles rock :thumbsup_anim:

Thanks aikidoka25. EVOReboot seemed to work. Now I am in the same boat as iCore, I have the exact same kernel panic on waking up from sleep.

I have SleepEnabler.kext installed in S/L/E. Is there something I have to do to a plist to fix this problem and make the sleep enabler kext work? Do I need to remove a problematic kext from elsewhere?

Hi there!

I'm back to business

I have successfully installed, thanks to the DD's script (THANKS!!! it's awesome); the problem I used to had (getting black screen at boot after installing 10.6.2) was causes by the HDMI cable; the only thing I had to do was to use the DVI port and woalá! It WORKED!

Now, I need to install Windows XP and Windows 7 too in my computer. I have 2 HDD

In the first one, I have a Snow Leopard installation to do tests and KP solving (you know what I mean; I installed that using the Hazard distro - It worked after applying the patch he provided - If anyone is interested in getting it, google for ir in TPB :),

In the 2nd HDD I have the fully functional Snow Leopard.

I already tried to install Windows XP SP3 to the partition I made specially for that purpose in the second HDD and it did not worked; then I tried to install it in another partition, but from the 1st HDD, after the Windows XP installation disk ended formating and copying the files to the HDD, at the boot, there is this weird message:

"Windows could not start because of a computer disk configuration problem.

Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.

Please check the Windows documentation about hardware.... blah blah blah"

Any clue about what's going on with my computer?

Thanks!!!

MOBO: UD5

Video Card: ATI 4550

I get a KP when waking up from sleep... (10.6.2 + DD script 4.22 + SleepEnabler 10.6.2)

Any clue ? (Which log should I look to?)

I was getting that same problem a while back. I think I fixed it by reverting to the original Apple IONetworking kext, installing the RealtekR1000 kext and reinstalling sleep enabler from the netkas 10.6.2 update page.

I fixed the issue.

I did not made any kext change, I only updated little snitch from v2.1.4 to v2.2

I guess this was the source of the problem as LS website says:

What’s new in Little Snitch 2.2

This version is compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

I have SL 10.6.0 up and running.

I want to update to 10.6.2, what would be the procedure to accomplish this?

Im hearing stuff like removing Sleepenabler.kext from Extra. I have no such kext.

Thanks.

Well if you have no such kext and you are using fakesmc instead of dsmos then you can update easily

Hi guys :).

Well, i'm running 10.6.2 for a while now :) using emilo's install. Everything works great except for 1 little thing:

I use the new 10.6.2 sleepenabler. The computer can sleep and can perfectly wake up. But when the computer is woken up from sleep and i try to shut down or restart, it gives me a kernel panic... Do I have to do something more?

CruSAr,

about VoodooHDA, is it possible to activate other jacks?

apparently the one used b the kext is different with the windows one.

so if i boot into windows, there is no sound because a different jack is used.

any ideas?

SCRIPT UPDATE:

UPDATE: 12/16/2009

Hi DD

Great UPDATE!!!

Your efforts are the best.

Though I haven't had time to look up your guide for a while, this is the best individual effort in this site, I guess!

Oh, I'm still using my EVGA X58.... :thumbsup_anim: but I get a great insight about the hackintosh thru you.

Thank you and have a wonderful holliday!

Thanks, it worked fine.

Cruisair, Exactly what did you do that enabled sleep? With Sleepenabler in Extra/Stored kexts, I'm still only getting a freezed screen crash when I try to sleep.

I honestly have no idea, I have always had working sleep since I started using DD's scripts, Leo and SL. Can u give me a list of your kexts? My setup is the same as the scripts defaults, the only difference is I use VoodooHda since it supports 5.1 surround sound.

I dont understand your Q, are you running windows through Vmware or what and what do you mean by other jacks? All the 3 rear jacks, orange green and black are activated

What causes the KP? A screen shot or a log will be great, then we will know how to help

Thanks for fast reply.

Here is my current setup:

28ubi.jpg

Method of installing:

Installed SL to drive from my Mac using DD's script

Installed kext with the script

Booted

Ran dsdt patcher, QE_CI patch, installed PC-EFI 10.5 and added graphicsenabler string to boot plist.

In your success post you said "This method makes no use of patched DSDT" and a couple lines down "After install I used DD's script to patch my DSDT"...?

please explain what is different between our installs.

Well .. well well well ... I am back to square one. I got it right once. I decided to erase and retry so that I could get just one account as admin (had two). I can't get past the kernel panic now. Seems sure I am using the same method as before? System, PCI, Install successful. KP on boot to new volume every time. Tried it at least three times, erased, ran script anew. Same results.

I never did get the sound fixed last time. Right now I would be happy to get it booted again.

Sigh. Any ideas out there? I know I did it once, was that a fluke? Seems logic should win out here? I can't see what I am forgetting that I did the last time but there must have been something?

Bios settings? Are you booting into single user mode the first time?

Kexts setup seems ok to me. Why do you have the 2 sound kexts in S/L/E, dont they work in Extra?

I am guessing your gpu is ATI? I only have experience with Nvidia GpU's. Try uninstalling the QE_CI patch, PC efi 10.5 and graphics enabler should be enough. I also see you have ATY_init in S/L/E, why? DOesnt your GPU work without it?

My DSDT has only the cmos reset patch, as this is standard, I conclude by saying my DSDT is not patched. Others like d00d, LocusOfControl and Emilo use extensively pathced DSDT's thus minimizing the use of kexts like sleepEnabler etc.

i managed to solved by updating the windows sound driver with the one from gigabyte

the stock one from windows, only allows sound output from 1 jack, which coincidentally not used by voodoohda (there are 6 jacks behind no?).

the one from gigabyte allows me to choose which jack.

Try my guide, it should get you up and running...just click on the link in my signature.

Will your bootloader ISO work with nvidia 8800 gtx card and also with retail of leopard or does it have to be retail for full snow leopard?

Using your bootloader ISO I tried to boot up just retail leopard but it appears it tries to init video (around 0.14 of video you'll see a vertical bar on the right side of the monitor) but my system just reboots after that.

Mobo: ga-x58-ud5 (F7)

memory: corsair 6GB triple channel

video: evga 8800 gtx 768MB

Here is a

with verbose mode of bootingwith your iso into retail leopard dvd

Hi all, I'm back with problems. :-( I'd appreciate if anyone can help.

I updated to 10.6.2 on my primary drive.

My MobileMe Sync doesn't work. It always "Never synced" and Time machine always backs up whole disk everytime it runs.

I think it's related to UUID of my drive.

So I modified smbios and PlatformUUID with my UUID. Still no luck.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Ok so after numerous attempts of reinstalling using current and prior version of DD's script, I keep getting the following kext load failure

Dec 18 23:51:04 localhost kernel[0]: Can't load kext com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPCI - link failed.
Dec 18 23:51:04 localhost kernel[0]: Failed to load executable for kext com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPCI.
Dec 18 23:51:04 localhost kernel[0]: Kext com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPCI failed to load (0xdc008016).
Dec 18 23:51:04 localhost kernel[0]: Failed to load kext com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPCI (error 0xdc008016).

I have a running iAtkos v4 installation on the computer i'm running the script. This computer is for this SL install.

Doing an install of Leopard Retail (10.5.6) to Snow Leopard so I don't know if that makes a difference.

The last ~10 lines of the kernel log is the following

Dec 19 08:20:34 localhost kernel[0]: FireWire (OHCI) TI ID 8024 PCI now active, GUID 00593f67006cf049; max speed s400.

Dec 19 08:21:12 localhost kernel[0]: Previous Shutdown Cause: 0

Dec 19 08:21:19 localhost kernel[0]: AppleTyMCEDriver::start coreVIDPID = 0xffffffff Number of packages = 1 Number of cpus = 8 memory monitor trough MCA

and it just sits there with that last line with AppleTyMCEDriver which I've read before that when it should be displaying the login screen. But it didn't go into the GUI which I'm thinking the kext load failure is part of the reason.

My hardware:

GA-X58-UD5 (F7)

i7 920

evga 8800 GTX 768MB

6GB Corsair triple channel

TIA!
