Cosmin Petre
I have a updated script with different audio kexts in the audio folder now. Try them. They are just a "HDAEnabler.kext" and "LegacyHDA.kext" and should work in /Extra!If it doesn't work, it may be that you don't have the latest AppleHDA.kext from 10.6.2, as the 10.6.1 version may have been restored during the AppleHDA.kext uninstall. Go into that AppleHDA.kext in S/L/E and open package and check the version # of the info.plist. It should be 1.7.9a4 And, make sure there isn't a "AppleHDA.kext.original" there. Delete it if present. Hi all, could somebody please clarify for me? Before I update my audio kexts I thought I'd check what I had in SLE - seems I have a real mixed bag and not totally sure what to keep and what to get rid of. Also none of the versions seem to match the number above (1.7.9a4) AppleHDA.kext (CFBundleVersion 1.4.0a23) AppleHDA.kext.duplicate (CFBundleVersion 1.4.0a23) AppleHDA.kext.original (CFBundleVersion 1.7.4a1) Would it be best to delete the older ones?... and can I get the most recent (1.7.9a4) from the 10.6.2 installer? thanks for any help

El_Rocko
Hi There! I saw that there are new kexts for ATI HD4500, 4600 and 4300 video cards on 10.6.2!!! DD, could you add this new kext to the script? =D Now, I hava an issue with my installation (kinda), Snow Leopard boots directly to the desktop, it does not asks for my password, how can I get this solved? Also, thr CPU info does no gets updated with the script option (it says it is a Quad - Core Intel Xeon, when in fact, it is a i7 920 Cpu); I'm using Chameleon RC4 bootloader. digital_dreamer
Digital Dreamer:Any tips or chance that you will help me port your 10.6.2 SleepEnabler to my EVGA X58 board? What do you need? That kext should work for your board. Or, am I not understanding you correctly? Erasing it all again, starting over (again). The code I posted above would suggest a kernel panic related to a power issue. But that is my best "guess". I fully admit my noobish naiveté. I think it would help if I understood which choices were best for my board setup. The script, wonderfully provided here at the start of this thread, allows a few branching off places. I have this GA-X58-UD4P with a 920 chip. I honestly don't know if it matters at all and if it did, which install parameter I should be going after here? System with extras, EFI, Chameleon old version, v3, v4 (?). Thanks. At the moment, using the Extra (versus EFI) install method is the simplest and is typically less of a hassle (when things go wrong). Cham RC3 or PC-EFI 10.5 is recommended. Yes, I would delete them all as they are not current and come from older versions. You can pull the recent version via Pacifist from the 10.6.2 installer, like you said. But, don't install them with the script, as the script will place a ".duplicate" file there to keep a tab on it in case you want to uninstall it. This kext you will not want to uninstall, as it's the Apple-supplied vanilla kext. I had to do the same thing. Again, this is a side-affect of renaming kexts in S/L/E with the purpose of restoring them some future time, which is the script's MO. Instead, what happens is that they get buried with each OS update. With modified kexts that have the same Apple name and are installed into S/L/E (AppleHDA.kext, IONetworkingFamily.kext, etc.), my only suggestion to get around this issue is to uninstall them prior to a OS update. That way the kexts get updated as they should. Then, you can reinstall the modified kexts back into S/L/E, where they will rename the vanilla versions. A bother, I know. I'm thinking of coming up with a better way to handle this situation. Instead of renaming the Apple-named kexts as "original" or "duplicate" I can move them to another folder, perhaps called, "Inactive." Then, software updates won't mess this up and the script can still uninstall the modified kext and restore original from "Inactive." Actually, I think this is just what I need to do. Nevermind. That won't work! LOL! Well, actually, if we did that, one would just need to run the Kext Installer again after the update and everything would be okay. Hmmmm. But, I still need to be able to determine when a OS update had occurred and remove the contents of "Inactive". (Not every kext gets updated in a update.) Okay, if I run the Kext installer again and the kext in S/L/E has a higher version that the one in "Inactive", then replace the one in "Inactive". There. Thanks for letting me think out loud! hey guys, working on getting my SL 10.6.2 fresh install done and running into a kernel panic... .com.apple.driver.AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement (96.0.0) as i said, started a fresh install using retail DVD and my Macbook Pro using DD's just released script. installed SL and then applied combo10.6.2 update to the install. when i go to run my kext installs/update bootcache, Normal Cache does not work, comes back with an error saying to check logs. GA EX58 UD5 (core i7) Video Card: ATI Radeon HD4550 Cham RC4 adds DigitalDJ’s SMBIOS CPU detection patch, which is responsible for the new name you see. Some have complained about it, because they prefer the name they had before. However, in defense of this patch, it is the proper Apple name that's used in their systems. If you don't want it, you can go back to RC3, like I have. I'm hoping there may be a override available in some future time, like the needed override for the UUID patch. mac09hack
Many thanks to DD for the new script for Snow Leopard! Will try to install it this weekend. Hear-hear! The 4.22 script works just great. I just saw it posed today and tried, once again to get Snow Leopard loaded using my MacBook Pro. After reloading the disk it came to life and even the Networking and Sound works. I used the Chameleon 2.0-RC4 bootloader and the Extra method to build the drive. Michael M
to update you DD and everyone else who this might help... as i stated in my edit of my post a few up, i switched from you EFI partition to /Extra install method. This cleared up my issue of doing the normal buildcache. my new issues: Graphics Card (ATI 4850): had Snow Leopard at one point booting to desktop but with basic graphic settings. i could not setup my dual screens or change resolution. playing around and i was able to get it to report ATI 4870 however, i am using a ATI 4850. Now i am getting corrupt graphics when reaching desktop and I don't know why. I am using the legacy4800 kext(/Extra) with EVOenabler.kext (installed S/L/E). who knows some good settings to play around to see if things can start working? I have followed this post which i thought should have helped: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1328511 and been scrambling through the comments on netkas.org to see if i can find someone else with similar problems. Second problem: when i had my graphics semi working and able to access the desktop, my LANs weren't being recognize at all from system profile. using the older install script, about two weeks ago I had LAN working (but no graphics still) so i know this shouldn't be a huge issue just need to get my graphics worked on first. I also have an ATI 3870 at my disposal to use but from my understanding this one does not work on SL? Thanks for you help DD and everyone! Retail Snow Leopard 10.6.2 X58-UD5 ATI Radeon 4860 Were you building the cache in SL or Leo?Perhaps you can post the install.log for me, so I can see what's going on. El_Rocko
Hi there! Me again. So, I have been trying to update to 10.6.2 with no success. Everytime I do that (from 10.6.0), I get stucked in a KP screen thats says something about the AppleHDA.Kext... and then it says "Exitout" What should I do? Delete it from S/L/E ? Or Why am I having this issue? I have a UD5 mobo, ATI 4550, I have removed the sleepenabler, then I have also tryed to install the 10.6.2 vesion, still no luck at all Seems to be a problem with the AppleHDA.kext, but I don't know how to get this solved!! ZoroLives
OK, working. No sound yet, that is something I can tackle now. Thanks for the help. Yes, using PC-EFI 10.5 was the ticket. I also used EFIStudio to set the graphics string for my EVGA 9800 512. Screens work great now. Downloaded the latest OS updater right away, crossed fingers, and still restarted. IT seems to be hanging on restart so I have to kill it manually after it gets underway, not perfected there yet. I also refrained from migrating all my files initially so not I have two accounts, the new install account and my old "normal" account. I may just redo this again and try to migrate from the beginning as it seems to be working now. Now to do some research as to why the audio is out. I know it has been discussed so I will do some research before ramping up more questions (yet). Again, many thanks.

seanmcgpa
MAJ, Can't thank you enough for your script update. I built a new rig (Xeon 3520 at 4.2ghz, Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5), hardware raid and using your script I was able to get things up and running quickly and painlessly. 10.6.2 seems to be running well. I have gotten an odd KP here and there but I think it's the Corsair memory I am using, I need to tweak setting etc. Also a shout out to d00d, I was able to read through his DSDT post for other ideas and info. Now I need to actually use his guide to get native power management working ... but for now I'm content. Anyone have suggestions for a high end really fast video card that works with 10.6.2? I was looking at the nvidia GTX 285 but was wondering if any of the newer, even faster cards worked without headaches on a Hackintosh / 10.6.2 ? student_al
Resolved Sound. I realized I didn't have my speakers plugged in. I added the HDAEnabler.kext and LegacyHDA.kext using the DD's 4.22 script with the kext/kernel install. Seem to work. I updated system in to 10.6.2 using the Apple update. Problems: * 32/64 Bit I don't know if I am running in 32 bit or 64 bit, how can I tell, and how can I move to 64 bit. * Booting. I am still trying to resolve the booting problems without the USB driver present. OK, No headphone or speaker troubles. The speaker volume on the menu bar is set at the bottom and is grayed out so, no sound. There are still some oddities afoot. For one thing, there is no icon showing for the new booted volume. Yes it is there in open Finder windows and yes it is there in disk utility. But no it is not there anywhere on my desktop. Now, since I have finally gotten it to work (very close) this once, I may throw caution to the wind and start again. The main reason I would even consider this is that I did not migrate my files at the begining so now I have a new set and my old set of logins. I wouldn't mind some discussion on how others have handled this? I suppose I could just be thankful for my old system files migrating over and try to kill my new adfmin set. Before that I will replace the MAIL, iCAL, iTunes, etc that have been added to the new set. I also have to insert the sound kext you so kindly shared. I assume I can do this with OSX86Tools. This is the version that I have now: Where: /vanillafiles Created: Saturday, March 7, 2009 4:03 PM Version: 1.6.2a37, Copyright Apple Inc. 2005-2008 Your version is newer so this could work, thanks. I installed the fix you posted for repairing permissions also. Is there a fix you can think of that would make my boot drive visible when mounted? And is what I am suggesting, killing the install login and using the migrated user files and permissions, sound reasoning? Thanks ADDED: The audio fix suggested did not change anything, still no audio. (yes I did run the permissions in SNL disk utility after that) The problem with the missing boot volume icon is likely do to my having two admin accounts which was my point already. With two accounts, with the one open, the other is grayed out. I may have to erase and start at the beginning again after all. Open to any ideas first of course. ALSO: Got 10 errors on permissions rebuild. Not used to seeing any such errors. tinush
Hi there, i'm trying to fix this board for a friend Ga-x58-ud5 with i7 920, 6gb 1333mhz and a gts250 so i created this installer with pc-efi 10.5 and all files for his rig (dsdt, smbios, extrat folder etc.) Got it all working (audio, video, usb fix, sleep fix, applelpc, sata, rtc, speedstep, etc) except that i would like to see this nvidia text in the dsdt, but i don't know where Device (GFX0) { Name (_ADR, Zero) Name (_SUN, One) Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized) { Store (Package (0x16) { "@0,compatible", Buffer (0x0B) { "NVDA,NVMac" }, "@0,device_type", Buffer (0x08) { "display" }, "@0,name", Buffer (0x0F) { "NVDA,Display-A" }, "@1,compatible", Buffer (0x0B) { "NVDA,NVMac" }, "@1,device_type", Buffer (0x08) { "display" }, "@1,name", Buffer (0x0F) { "NVDA,Display-B" }, "NVCAP", Buffer (0x18) { /* 0000 */ 0x04, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x03, 0x00, /* 0008 */ 0x0C, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x07, /* 0010 */ 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 }, "VRAM,totalsize", Buffer (0x04) { 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x40 }, "device_type", Buffer (0x0C) { "NVDA,Parent" }, "model", Buffer (0x17) { "Nvidia GeForce GTS 250" }, "rom-revision", Buffer (0x21) { "Nvidia GeForce OpenCL Engine EFI" } }, Local0) DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0)) Return (Local0) Also after sleep when i connect a usb drive the system gets a kernel panic. can someone confirm this, when using these files EDIT kernel panic as above is solved by going to x64 only kext needed for retail (other kext solved via dsdt) fakesmc.kext HDAEnabler.kext LegacyHDA.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext PlatformUUID.kext RealtekR1000SL.kext and IONetworkingFamily.kext thnx T. small guide for retail installation http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=203017 EDIT all files in zip, needed Kext, dsdt, smbios & com.apple.boot for 10.6.2 ------------------- IONetworkingFamily.kext.zip X58_ud5_Gigabyte_boot_installe_Thijmus__v1.zip Ga_x58_ud5_only_Extra___Dsdt_Thijmus_v2_.zip
