thanks I'm going to try

on another note i don't know why but my graphics card doesn't want to show the ram it has and the HDMI port doesn't work. What I did before to get it working was reinstall the web driver, but now it won't work. Any clues to what is causing this problem, I also have the proper boot flag.

has anyone updated to 10.11.4 without problems?

Please use only this webdriver-updater

OSX 10.11.4 is only in beta !

so to avoid Webdriver problems , Wait for the official release.......

Would anyone know why my geek bench score is so low? With the hardware I have is think it'd be better than what I'm getting.

Geek bench score: mid 9000

Well average rate for your PROC is at 8155 with multicore and 64k.  Highest rate  is at 13262 but it's overclocked at @ 4.51 GHz ! ( instead of 2.8 Hhz)

http://browser.prima...ssor-benchmarks

http://browser.prima...multicore_score

OSX 10.11.4 is there and webdriver update 346.03.06f01and CUDA driver 7.5.26 !

Working perfectly !

I still think it's strange that it's that low, overclocked to 4.08 and I'm getting a score of 6000?! I heard that the smbios could be a factor in such a low score. Any thoughts?

It seems logic to me that if you overclock your hardware BIOS to 4.08 Ghz, you have to inform OSX by modified PROC. But CLOVER detects it probably automatically.

What does Geekbench report says about your CPU ?

Look here what Slice says about it :http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/282787-clover-v2-instructions/?do=findComment&comment=1853640

So otherways ajust if necessary in config.plist:

<key>CPU</key>

    <dict>

        <key>BusSpeedkHz</key>

        <integer>133330</integer>

        <key>QPI</key>

        <integer>4800</integer>

    </dict

I just double checked and I have a i7 960

That doesn't change anything about memory support !

Change your signature if you want adequate help...

Geekbench-multicore score 64bit  for Core i7 960( 3200Ghz) is 9278

Help with Upgrading to 10.11.4 from 10.9.5

I've got a great Hackintosh running Mavericks 10.9.5 with an i7-980x on a GA-EX58-UD5 with a ATI Radeon 5870. Can somebody outline the steps necessary to upgrade to El Capitan from a downloaded Apple Install OS X El Capitan app? I've done so little maintenance on my build that I've totally forgotten how I'd do it. I'm running the original hack installer script version 8.5.3 Chameleon, but could switch to Clover if that is recommended. Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I switched now for a long time ago for Clover, so I can help you only with that.

In short, but read ..... Clover is using the (invisible) EFI partition present on every MAC formated disk. To see it, you can use any EFI mounter. (Clover Configurator or EFI mounter (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/528-efi-mounter/)

Everything is managed by de config.plist (inside EFI/CLOVER)

Be aware wich EFI you see and what you change.... !!

Your CPU is (almost) the same as my Xeon W3680 ( I pushed it up to 3.46Ghz in my bios)

I suggest that you install El Capitan on a new drive . There are two options to do it.

  1. You can do that easely from your OSX 10.9.5       Sorry but you have to be already on El Capitan -> look on chriss1111 post 4599
  2. Make a USB drive Clover EL CAPITAN installer

Here a some utilities for the 2 ways made by chriss 1111 for the 2 options

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/files/file/471-clover-v23k-special-edition-v2/

take the r3368 version !  Sorry but you have to be already on El CApitan  ! -> look on chriss1111 post 4599

For option 1 you can take El Capitan HD.app from his site (french !):

http://www.hackintosh-montreal.com/?pid=3

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B661P9Kp9bPATEh6RlB1OGZiN2s/view

other useful utilities:

For your graphic card AMD 5870 try this config:( or use your mavericks solution !) There are different framebuffer types for this card port layout dependent ( Uakari ;Langur;)

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/288601-patched-framebuffer-repository/?do=findComment&comment=2190985

When I had my HD4850, my solution was to load VBios put your specific GC bios in EFI/CLOVER/ROM  (the name for your GCrom wil be 1002_6898.rom )    ( you can get it here: http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?architecture=AMD&manufacturer=&model=HD+5870&interface=&memType=&memSize=  )

Hereby is my latest (CLOVER) config.plist ( change it for your RIG !)   and DSDT.aml for mobo EX58-UD5 (with good USB support)

I have also made a snapshot of my EFI structure.

Good luck

Don’t do it! Upgrade to Yosemite instead. I had a rock solid Yosemite installation with that board. Everything, and I mean everything was working with Clover. I updated to El Capitan last week and now I have no USB 3 (Renesas PCI card), my sleep no longer works. I have to run with SIP turned off because some of my software isn't compatible. Ugh. I might be going back to Yosemite if I can't get his worked out in the next week.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I was out of town for awhile and got busy with other stuff. Thank you so much for writing this up and providing snapshots of your configuration. Very, very helpful. And I'm glad chris1111 posted with his easy method, too.

So, would you recommend that I just use chris1111's El Capitan HD installer instead of using other cobbled together methods? I have a MBP which I've been waiting to upgrade to EC (from 10.9.5), but was waiting to do it at same time as the hackintosh.

So once I upgrade my MBP to EC, I'd attach a formatted external drive to it, make sure Apple's EC installer is in my MBP's app folder, then run chris111's El Capitan HD installer on the attached external drive. After EC is installed on the external drive, now named Macintosh-HD, I'd chose the Clover Legacy bootloader and appropriate video settings for my Apple 5870. After installing Clover boot loader  I put the drive in my hackintosh, boot with it, then use chris1111's Post Installer to put all the driver kexts on it. And that should be it, after some tweaking, right?

Disable the SIP Security on your Mac before
