Any Idea? The Screens turn black, but the fans in the tower simply continue to rotate. Sleep also does not work! Ideas? Pcace Ok, a machine wich i cannot shutdown is senseless - so i decided to redownload the whole Hackinstaller and reinstal all the default kexts. Now i can shutdown the machine, BUT 1. i Have no Sound. 2. I cannot set the machine to sleep. (only cosmetical )
pcace
Hey, sorry for writing so many annoying things here, but i really need help, i dont know what i can do to make my machine shutdown properly: The Problem is that i do not know where i can search for the error The machine simply does not shut down. The fans continue to rotate. Is it possible that it is because of the 2 Graphic cards? Before (only one) there was not a problem with shutting down the machine. Any help would be great!!! digital_dreamer
pcace, If you had sleep working with the one GPU originally, try sleep with just the other GPU installed to see if it's that GPU that's holding sleep up. Then, just to verify that sleep can work, install just the original GPU and test sleep. It may be that sleep may work with either, but not both, but I'm not familiar with dual GPU setups. As for sound, it's hard to tell what's really going on. Make sure you don't have any other sound kexts running, either in Extra or S/L/E, besides the HDAEnabler.kext and controller (ALC885_889a.kext). The current sound setup requires the original vanilla AppleHDA.kext in S/L/E to work properly. If you wish, you may submit to me your install log at digital (underscore) dreamer (at) mac (dot) com, and I'll look at the sound installation portion of the log for possible issues. best of wishes, MAJ

Are there some ones who can confirm that a dual grphic-card setup works? Sleep is not what i really need: i really need to be able to shut down the machine! When using only one of the Graphic cards Shutdown works great! So it doesnt matter wich one and in wich PCIe slot it is installed! So there must be an other Problem;) Digital_dreamer: are you still working on the script? Is there the plan, to implement some dual-graphic features? Thank you for all the hard work!!! Did you experience hardware instability after installing the HD? What is it rated for? ....zip ... zip ... zip ... best of wishes, MAJ Re -ouch After 2 months i solve the problem of turning off under load: not PSU but fan cool. The original Intel was non stable and had raised a leg that sometime with hot move the fan. Try pmVersion=0 at boot. regards, MAJ ...Digital_dreamer: are you still working on the script? Is there the plan, to implement some dual-graphic features? I've worked on that issue off and on. The challenge is extracting the right device tree from the IOReg. I have a small test script that I had been working on and may ask you or others with dual GPU setups to test it out to see if the device tree the script produces matches what is actually used. I'll check it out again, sometime. Don't know about the shutdown/sleep issue in your case. regards, MAJ
iceage2609
For me kernel panic during installation (from 10.7.1-10.7.2) every single time. When the procedure comes to move items to place ...grey screen with restart button. digital_dreamer
itdoesnotwork, Can you or anyone else with this issue, describe the KP or post the KP screen? I'm curious about what is causing this. MAJ
itdoesnotwork
So this is what happened so far: 1. Running 10.7.1 2. Installed 10.7.2 via software update: during "copying files" a KP occured (Only "You have to restart..." even though I set debug flag) 3. After reset, it stopped booting right after stating kernel version. No reported errors - then keeps rebooting. 4. Installed 10.7.2 completely again booting into my spare drive and using combo update 5. KP at boot (see screenshot) 6. Was able to boot using the bootloader of my spare drive without errors. Kexts loaded in working bootloader: Kexts loaded in in non working bootloader: Well, I updated the script and installed Chimera 1.5.4, tried to boot with new kexts and still get same KP as shown in screenshot. However, I can boot 10.7.0 flawlessly, so it's definitely a 10.7.2 problem.
Lyle M
For what it's worth... I have Lion on a drive for testing. I ran the 10.7.2 combo update with no problems. On reboot I noticed that my boot caches weren't loading (booting with each kext loading one-by-one). The system did startup ok after that. The boot cache issue was easily fixed by re-running the kext/kernel installer from the HackInstaller script. On my Lion drive, I'm using Chameleon v2.1svn r1625. No DSDT, no SleepEnabler.kext. I can post other config info if anyone needs it. Regards.

L3B3R
I'm having issues updating as well however I am not getting a KP. I have tried both new Chameleon and Chimera but have not had success. It seems like I am just not getting video support even though I am using the same EFI string as previous (nvidia 9800 gtx). Attached is the last lines I see in verbose before the screen goes blank. The PC stays on like it is running still so I am assuming it is just a graphics issue, but if someone sees errors in the screenshot please let me know. Also, is there a kext that is working in lion for nvidia cards?
digital_dreamer
You dont use ATY_Init.kext for your video? What is your solution for video with your ATI 48xx card? if i recall that was the card you had too =)im on 10.7.1 but i have to use ATY_Init.kext in _kext_to_sle folder otherwise my system boots to a powersave mode and i can only VNC in =) I don't need the ATY_Init.kext anymore, as I have the AMD 5770. It just needs the GraphicsEnabler=Yes flag. The previous ATI 4870X2 went bad - video artifacts. It's an expensive doorstop, now. regards, MAJ
itdoesnotwork
My problem is solved so far. It seems like the bootloader did not install correctly with preserve plist option. I was able to boot into Lion using chameleon, but iCloud did not work. With Chimera, it does. Your latest script, however, did not allow me to change from Chameleon to Chimera. It installed, but bootloader was still Chameleon. Downloaded and installed Chimera from tonymac, now it works. Hope this helps, but if you can't reproduce this error, never mind. It seems like such strange things happen only to me XD Thanks for your support anyways!

Cosmin Petre
Lnx2Mac's Realtek RTL81xx driver has been updated to v0.0.90 and now supports the newer (SandyBridge) RTL8111E, RTL8111E-VL, and RTL8111F Realtek chips. Also included are full support of WakeOnLAN and WakeOnDemand. See Lnx2Mac's Realtek RTL81xx Driver Project Page for more information and the download link. If I download the installer can I extract the plugin and put it in my existing IONetworkingFamily.kext and rebuild caches or is it better to use terminal to do the copying? thanks
bbchucks
Updated to 10.7.2 with no problems. After the update and reboot, there was no sound (same when i went from 10.7 to 10.7.1) i had to run DD's script and choose option 3 , 4 and 5. Copy ATY back into KextforSystem. Rebooted again. Sound is back. All good. Edit: Except: Icloud not working returns the message "This apple id is valid but is not an icloud account"

So, the bootloader install changed your original boot plist settings, even after you opted to preserve the contents of /Extra? I need to confirm that this is really happening, as it could be troubling. 2. After Chimera installation, evidence shows that it's not really installed. Would you provide me your install log, so I can see what's going on? Everyone's installation is a little different, I realize, but I want to make sure the script is working as expected in all those situations. You can email me at digital (underscore) dreamer (at) me (dot) com. MobileMe hasn't been cooperating very well recently. Can't send via Mail, just via web based setup. Lucky and Unlucky you! Guess i gotta search the forums if 10.7.2 work with ATY kext and 4870. LOL!. Netkas says, "qe/ci patches gonna take longer this time, as I’m far away from usual place." If I download the installer can I extract the plugin and put it in my existing IONetworkingFamily.kext and rebuild caches or is it better to use terminal to do the copying? thanks Yes, that would work. But, but, but... You'll need to change the "OSBundleRequired" string in that kext to Root, before you rebuild caches, or it won't be included in the cache. Easily done in script: In Boot Cache Updater, just type the number of the IONetworkingFamily.kext in the list, followed by space, followed by Root, press <return>. Then build cache. (Note that the "Mkext Filter" for IONetworkingFamily.kext may already be Root, but that newly installed RealtekRTL81xx.kext Plugin will actually be Network-Root.) best regards, MAJ ....i had to run DD's script and choose option 3 , 4 and 5. Copy ATY back into KextforSystem. I would think that you should only have to do step 3 (provided the ATY_Init.kext is in the script's Graphics folder), as 4 would be redundant, and 5 would be unnecessary if the DSDT.aml file is already in /Extra. best of wishes, MAJ
digital_dreamer
For those of you having boot issues that end in a ApplePolicyControl-related KP (com.apple.driver.ApplePolicyControl in backtrace), like shown in itdoesnotwork's KP shot above, try the suggestion in post #55 in the Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 is Available! thread. This suggestion is simply to remove the ApplePolicyControl.kext from the AppleGraphicsControl.kext's Plugins folder in S/L/E. The System boot cache/kernelcache would need to be rebuilt after this. Additionally, it appears there have been changes in graphic drivers where the boot process ends with no desktop shown - the log just stops. Some users have noted that disabling the bootloader's GraphicsEnabler (GraphicsEnabler=No) gets them in. Of course, no QE/CI is enabled, either. regards, MAJ

Only issues: No iCloud login (using latest Chimera, and tried this) No App Store login No Mail No QE/CI
