Ok, try this kext then....does anyone else experience this problem?

 

No luck.

 

But now that I'm pretty sure what's causing the problem (the DSDT file), I'm gonna poke around d00d's thread and see if anything can be found. Thanks for the help CruiSAr, much appreciated! If you run into any solution gimme a poke.

I edited the portion of the PEX4 and PEX5 in my DSDT with the one from DD's. Try it and let me know if that helps you

I found the problem! Reading d00d's post, it seemed like there were some things that were ethernet port dependant. Which game me the idea to switch ethernet ports. Switched and it's back to working flawlessly.

 

So for the record, using Ethernet 2 (the top port) causes severe speed issues. Using Ethernet 1 (bottom port) is fine.

 

EDIT: Tried your PEX edit, crashed. Thanks again for taking the time to debug this CruiSAr, much appreciated!

Yeah I noticed that when I tried it, I didnt close the code tag...and I used force compile...Happy you got it working....I should update the guide with that note

Two quick questions

 

1) I'm looking at installing SL server, is there anything I need to do differently or be aware of. IIRC, there shouldn't be any differences, but figured it didn't hurt to check.

 

2) I only seem to be able to use 6 of the SATA ports. It can be any combo of the blue and white ports, but I only seem to be able to get 6 of them to work. Any suggestions?

is there any new/better kexts compared to the DD's package [except sleepenabler.kext] ?

Thanks for the suggestion, I have updated the wiki with the guide. I cant however add my setup to the hardware section of this site as it only support Leopard and Tiger installations, I run only SL. Who do I have to contact in order to have it added.

 

I Dont know about any better kexts, I just rip what I need from DD's script or kexts.com

Can it cause BIOS version?

The problem is probably being caused by your graphics card, try and search the forum for how to get the GTS 250 working on your system.

 

Have you tried different bootloaders? You can also try to remove the mentioned kexts in the KP backtrace from S/L/E to your desktop and reboot, it should work but you will have poor graphics support.

 

That should point you in the right direction but I will strongly suggest you try other bootloaders.

I installed Mac OS X 10.6.0 on my Hackintosh and had everything looking good for about 20 minutes then shut down to leave for work. Powered it back up when I got home and got a kernel panic. I used the digital dreamer SL install method from the this forum. My hardware is:

Gigabyte EX58 Ud5 Mobo

Intel core i7 975 CPU

WD 1 TB HD

generic old PCI video card (waiting on the GTX 285 to come in)

 

don't know how to add a screenshot of the Hackintosh here and don't have a jpeg photo of my screen. there are several lines of code that look ok on the last screen and then it says:

waiting for DSMOS

panic (cpu 0 caller 0x7ee1af60) "No HPETS available...CPUs configured incorrectly\n@ sourceCache/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement-90/pm Thread.c:148

Debugger called <panic>

then goes on for several lines that say cpu followed by numbers that I didn't have time to write down, ending with "system uptime in nanoseconds 286327896"

 

I used the EFI Partition for the install.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Will try to take a photo of my screen and post it tonight after work if it would help.

if youve got a generic old videocard, its probably not supported. dont waste time and effort trying to get it to work

wait for your 285 and then make an efi string and all will be fine.

 

a few tips:

1. update to 10.6.3

 

2. quickflash your board's bios to version F9 (just do a google, its on gigabytes website)

 

3. make sure your bios is all correctly configured

 

4.get d00d's dsdt

(its at the bottom of the first post, you want the one called DSDT_GA_EX58_UD5_F9m_S3_975_W3580_v2.zip )

this is specifically made for i7 975

 

5.delete kexts which you dont need now you have d00d's dsdt (do this by putting them in trash and then running

KextUtility.app http://www.kexts.com/view/129-kext_utility..._(update).html)

these are:

NullCPUPowerManagement.kext

AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext

IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext

JMicronATA.kext

 

 

...alll these things will lead to a smoother running OS X

I don't know if this will be of any use for you. But in my experience a TimeMachine Backup couldn't be used if the UUID has changed (i did a reinstall without preserving my UUID, i could import my personal data but could'nt continue to use the old backup on the fresh installation). Perhaps the backup is bound to an old UUID?

At the moment, TimeMachine works like a charm here.

I apologize, I'm a bit confused. What is UUID? I did a clean reformat of the time machine hard drive and just trying to back up everything. It just keeps stopping in the middle.

Okay, i didn't understand your problem before. I thought you were trying to continue backing up to an existing timemachine image after reinstalling a new system... So, I'm sorry, but I think I can't give you any useful advise. But perhaps it helps the other geeks around if you describe your problem a bit more in detail; to what kind of drive you're trying to backup, how it's connected to your hackintosh etc....

 

More about the UUID (which I believe isn't connected to your problem) in general can be found here on wikipedia, more about handeling it in the first post of this guide from digital_dreamer (thanks for this great guide!)

This is the guide that helped me install Snow Leopard but after updating to 10.6.3 my video card is not working like it should.

I have NVIDIA 9800 GT 512 MB with 2 DVI ports and when i connect my FullHD TV with DVI-to-HDMI Cable display freezes.

I try to add the Device ID in NVDAResman.kext and NVDANV50Hal.kext but didn't helped me.

I just faced this problem when switching from a standard Digital Dreamer script install to a Cruisar method. I had a Time Machine backup using Time Capsule. I was able to re-use the backup by modifying the exisiting backup's UUID and changing it to match my current UUID. See this link for more information:

Possible NVidia 8xxx/9xxx Solution for 10.6.3

 

Many people have had difficulty with getting their NVidia GPUs working with 10.6.2 and now 10.6.3. The issue seems to revolve around HDCP compatible displays. This would be all HDMI monitors and possibly newer DVI monitors. One workaround was to use two NVidia kexts from 10.6.1 along with EFI strings to enable the 8- and 9- series cards to work. Another simple solutions is to just use VGA monitors (no need for new kexts). See my previous post for our earlier solution for 10.6.2:

Many are now reporting issues with 10.6.3 with their 8xxx and 9xxxx series NVidia cards using HDMI/some DVI monitors with no solution. Others seem to have DVI monitors working, but have not confirmed to be HDCP DVI monitors. I have found one option I know to work with both HDCP-compatible DVI monitors and HDMI HDTVs.

 

Essentially, the solution is to use CruiSar's method with the latest AsereBLN bootloader. See his wonderful instructions on setting up an install using only fakesmc.kext and Realtek1000SL.kext with the new bootloader here:

Once you have his install method setup, it is important to remove any EFI strings for your GPU in your com.apple.boot.plist file. You also need to setup the "GraphicsEnabler" option. There is no need to use any older NVidia kexts anywhere, and you do not need to add your device IDs to any of the existing kexts. The magic happens with the CruiSAr's new method using a new bootloader (based of Chameleon RC4) that provides automatic EFI string injection and seems to offer better support for the NVidia GPUs in both 10.6.2 and 10.6.3.

 

Once you have this setup, I can confirm that these setups work:

 

Single DVI monitor (HDCP capable)

Dual DVI monitors (both HDCP capable)

Dual monitors with one DVI monitor (HDCP) and one HDMI Sony 1080p HDTV (HDCP)

Single Sony 1080p HDTV (HDCP)

 

My current video card in an NVidia 9600 GT 512MB with Dual DVI outputs. To get HDMI, I used a DVI --> HDMI converter cable.

 

For anyone not using the Gigabyte EX58-UD5 but experiencing the same problem, I suggest using the GraphicsEnabler option from the AsereBLN_v1.1.9 Bootloader available here:

From Macgenius: MY vidoe card is an Nvidia 8800 GT 512MB with Dual DVI Outputs also. This method did not work. Since yours appears to have worked, please provide more detailed instructions. This is a serious problem that affects all HDMI Monitors with HDCP.
