Ciaraan
Asus P6T, it's not the SAME board, do a search buddy, Asus P6T totally different board, different brand, different chips. We will not tell you how to fix, this is a guide for a different board. Do your homework buddy. Digital's script has worked for p6t since leopard. Both boards are x58. The difference is just a couple of kexts. I fixed it by updating the info.plist with device ids. Thank you anyway.

X58 is just the chipset, ICH10R is standard You need the JMicron kext's for ATA & SATA etc, Different Sound codec then UD5 and UDR3 Storage chipsets diff, Firewire chipset diff, Diff network chip, Diff I/O Controller chip. Of course it's a X58 board but it doesn't mean you will get a working setup from his script. Wrong section for ASUS PT6, Try and prove me wrong buddy. Your DSDT will be diff, totally diff kexts except for JMicron etc.

And that's... just silly if your machine's already running Leopard. I got it working, thanks though. The Kexts in Digital's package work just fine. You just need to run DSDT (obviously, duh.) patcher and replace an ID string in IntelPIIX. Overall, this method works -better- than dedicated P6T threads. else i wouldn't be pestering. tonhe98
Ok, so I'm attempting my first hackintosh build, but alas, I am having issues. System is a ga-ex58-ud5, i7 920, nvidia gtx 275. I followed the guide, installing from my MBP (using a Sata->USB dock), popped my drive into the system and I get a nice black screen after it starts loading (not too far after its talking about waiting for DSMOS? or something.. ) Here is a (bad) image of my screen just before it goes black (monitor tries to switch between analog and digital.. almost like you unplugged the cable or something) http://grab.by/2ba7 Any suggestions? Thanks for the help in advance! ( not sure if this is the issue or not, but do I need to install a kext during the first install process to have video since I'm not using an ATI card like DD is ? )

snood
So this boggles my mind. The other day my mouse would lockup for a second every 5 seconds or so, I had to kill the computer with the power switch as it would not restart. OSX would then not boot (bootloader issues), I fixed it and it still locked up every few seconds for a second. I next tried to do a restore from a time machine image, and same thing. I then tried to install a fresh copy using empire EFI (I used the cd same when I initially installed a few months ago) and it keeps complaining that my disc is an upgrade disc and never did before. I then installed it to a USB and was able to install a fresh copy...same thing. I then installed Windows and Ubuntu, both run great. So i just booted up the SL installer again, mouse locks up! Any thoughts. I tried resetting the bios, even updated it to F9 (from .tw site as it was release 1/20ish and is not a beta)

iCore
Here is a little update on my KP issue: I have done a similar installation (using DD script), but sleep does not work perfectly.System goes to sleep and awake "normally" but after a wake up I get a Kernel Panic: - When I try to launch an old power pc application (Epson Scan Utility v2.77 for my Perfection Photo 2580 scanner) - or randomly immediately after wake up. The only difference I can see from your configuration is the bios version (I am running the F8 bios revision) Any idea from where my problem can come from ? (I really miss the sleep feature...) Could the Bios be the source of the problem ? I am not really a fan of beta versions of bios, and I would prefer to wait the final F9 release. Thanks It seems that the BIOS version F8 was the cause of my problem. I updated yesterday evening to BIOS F9 (final one) and the wake from sleep seems to work. I did not get any KP at wake up so far, and no KP when launching a rosetta application after a sleep.
tonhe98
Are you booting in 64 or 32 bit mode? pcace I was booting into 32bit (specificly passing -v and arch=i386 at the bootloader prompt) I gave up on the digital dreamer script, attempted rebel efi with no success, and ended up using the myHack RC5 which worked like a charm! I just have a couple issues left to work out, including sleep (sometimes doesn't wake up the video... ), and I just had a crash when issuing a reboot from the console (screen grey'd out and told me I had to reboot!) I always had some instability with sleep in 32 bit mode, sorted it self out eventually, I then went onto 64 bit mode which seemed more reliable but I did get KP's when using Safari and some other apps. Have a look at colorsync utility is apps/utilities and try profile first aid, then try hitting reset defaults twice in energy saver system prefs. Sometimes worked for me when I had weird monitor problems In then end I went to native Apple PM and got rid of all the 3rd party kexts except FakeSMC. Sleep works perfectly now and no KP's etc Once you feel you have everything running and if you feel comfortable using terminal I suggest you look at the UD5 DSDT thread here and think about getting rid of all (or most) your extra Kexts (depending on what devices you are using of course). It is the dependence on the non apple kexts which cause most of the problems IMHO http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=196771
star-affinity
This is a guide section, that question should be posted in existing 10.6 install section, Anyway that DVD drive would be kext related ATA kext or SATA, basically something to do with a controller, That drive is popular i run a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-216. Does everything perfectly. *** Also i'm now using VoodooHDA.kext, IOAudioFamily.kext and OSvKernDSPLib.kext from /Extra folder, audio loads perfectly in Snow Leopard 64bit, Sound is perfect, clearer and much louder, Also i put the machine to sleep and woke it up, audio still perfect, Connections in Control panel show perfectly. Front audio and mic, Rear green out, Rear mic out, SPDIF-in and out. all good for me DSDT + VoodooHDA, GFX String...I think i have a perfect setup now Hi! I downloaded your stuff and used Kext Utility to install IOAudioFamily.kext and OSvKernDSPLib.kext. Also replaced DSDT.aml and com.apple.boot.plist with the copies from you. Still don't get any â€Rear green out†in the Sound section of System Preferences. I just get: Digital out (HDMI) Headphones (Green Front) SPDIF-out (Orange Rear) Any ideas what might be wrong? I do have all my Kexts in S/L/E (if that matters). Edit: {censored} – after a restart Activity Monitor only reports 4 GB RAM of my total 6 GB. Searched the web and found others running Windows with the same problem so I guess it's a mobo thing. Sigh... Soon I feel I'll put sell this thing and buy one of the coming Mac Pro's. It'll be expensive, but I'm getting a bit tired of all the fiddling. Maybe a Hackintosh isn't for me after all. At the same time it's only this audio issue that's remaining... (plus the new RAM thing).

Here another good article : Snow Leopard 10.6.3 BETA and AppleHDA for ALC889A http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...a-para-t5336%2F EFI 10.6 Is Cham RC3 based so it's not worth changing or mucking around with unless you need it for the specific bug fixes. I have removed a few kexts as i do not need them and some were causing issues while trying to eject DVD drive etc. The kexts that currently run from my /Extra's folder are: EvOreboot.kext - Fixes reboot issue fakesmc.kext - Requirement to boot SL NullCPUPowerManagement.kext - Requirement to boot SL PlatformUUID.kext - UUID insertion SleepEnabler.kext - Fixes sleep in 10.6.2 I'm wondering if i can figure out how to fix my DSDT so i can only have 2 kexts in my Extra's folder, so reboot, sleep, AHCI SATA and IDE ATA, Graphics and Sound can be fixed through my DSDT without any additional kexts, might take me a while but i think it's possible. That's about it until i get sound fully working, just have to do all the linux dump work first.
jhrfc
Hi, I'm running 10.6.2 with DSDT mods for native power management and to use ALC889a.kext for audio. After running software update and installing the updates below, my UD5 machine would not wake from sleep. I've restored, but would be interested to know what people think might be the culprit? I'm tempted to wait until 10.6.3 now. updates: Security Update 2010-001 itunes 9.0.3 Remote Desktop client update 3.3.2 Bonjour Update 2010-001 Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 1 My money would be on the security update. it has a core audio update in it, and my machine fires up, but never reaches the point when you hear the audio wake up, (before the screen would normally come on). Cheers Anybody with a UD5 tried the 10.6.3 betas? Cheers Jon

raymondh
It doesn't seem like the cpu and/or case fans are increasing their speed when there is a 100% load. My temps are about 69C across all cores after a hours of mprime so I think that's okay but I always thought the fans would spin up under load. I have the CPU fan set to PWM in the bios. Any thoughts? raymondh
Another question. I just did a second install for a friend and used Chameleon2 RC4. I then read that DD says to only use that version if you plan to manage UUID yourself. What does that mean? What do I have to do? My friend is going to replace a MacPro1,1 with this hack if that matters. Should I rerun the script and install RC3?

Everything went fine. I had ethernet, dual monitor working out of the box. Now i tried installing X58 MOBO Installer from the first page. It rebooted fine, i got the Audio working, but i lost dual monitor, screwed up my resolution, No ethernet, and fans where going full blast. Then after googling some more I found KAKEWALK. So i reinstalled with the same method EFI then Retail snow. At this point i used Kakewalk's Iso...and what can i say...it worked like a charm...fan speeds are variable like they should be, ethernet, audio, dual monitor everythin works so if anybody is have problems i would suggest using Kakewalk...its superb. Hope this helps to ppl who are having problems like i did

callumj09
I appreciate this question is probably fairly irrelevant but I haven't been able to get advice anywhere else. Recently I switched my bootloader to a patched Chameleon RC4 called Asere's Bootloader. This bootloader claims to allow the removal of certain kexts like EvoReboot/PlatformUUID which I did. Although now my computer won't shut down, but strangely still restarts. As well as that, sleep isn't working anymore either. I'm wondering if it could be a conflict of some kind. I'm using the DSDT power management mods with some audio stuff in there as well. My current kext setup is as follows: In E/E: fakesmc.kext LegacyHDA.kext OrangeIconFix.kext (anyone know a DSDT fix for this?) And in S/L/E is a network kext in the plugins folder of IONetworkingFamily.kext. My board is the UD3R, with the beta BIOS F8d.

If you have UDR3 you do not need the networking kext, you also do not need the orangeicon fix if you use the blue sata ports like stated above, sata is recognised by macos as external instead of internal, doesn't really stop snow leopard from working does it, yes not so hard DSDT edit, under SATA in DSDT you will see PRT1, PRT2 etc etc, a few things have to be changed, read up on SATA Fix ICH10R DSDT through Insanelymac not hard to find. start your DSDT from scratch, reboot, sleep, shutdown can all be fixed through DSDT edits. You need a hex editor and IORegistryExplorer, read around quite a few people have done it, i'm going to perfect my setup, just got alot of assignment to do
