[GUIDE] Scripted Yosemite/Mavericks Install on Gigabyte Mobos

MAJ,

I have a bizarre issue I thought you might be able to help with. I have tried literally for months to get snow leopard to work with no success. I think I finally pinpointed the issue, but cannot seem to correct it. I originally had a Kalyway installation which I long ago successfully replaced with your Leopard script. When I originally booted up the drive with your Leopard script, I used Migration Assistant to pull all my old Kalyway settings over. When I did that, it would no longer let me use my original user name, so I created another admin user (the same name as the original, but just added a number 2 to the end of it). It appears that this is causing my headaches as the script appears to work, but I get a KP immediately when I start up. Come to find out, the user account, even though it has full admin privledges, is not installing everything onto the hard drive when I look at the logs. Have you ever seen/heard of this before? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Need some help with audio.

I've tried to look in this thread and also searched the internet, but...

I tried to go with VoodooHDA.kext since (if I understand correctly) it will work with the latest AppleHDA.kext.

I'm almost there, but only get these audio outputs in System Preferences -> Output:

Digital-out (HDMI)

Headphones (Green Front)

SPDIF-out (Orange Rear)

I'd bee happy to see ”Line out rear (Green Back)” or something like that in this list.

How get audio to work on this green rear audio port (what kexts are needed)?

Currently I have AppleHDA.kext (version 1..7.9a4) and VoodooHDA.kext (version 0.2.53) in System -> Library -> Extensions.

Do you actually have audio through HDMI? If so, what's your setup?

I haven't gotten any help over in the controller card section, so I thought I'd try here since this is the guide I used to get my hackintosh set up.

I'm in the process of trying to set up an Areca 1230 PCIe Sata Raid card, with an 8 drive array of Raptor150s.

I can see all the drives and create the raid in the browser interface, but after I do that, I am not seeing any sort of volume in the Finder, Disk Utility or the System Profiler. I've tried configuring the volume as both a RAID 10 and a JBOD. Neither makes any volume(s) show up.

There is an entry for the Areca card in System Profiler, under "Parallel SCSI Cards". It only says "SCSI Parallel Domain 0". The little window below shows the firmware version. and basic info.

i'm running SL 10.6.1, I in 32 bit mode. The firmware on the card is 1.47 and I've installed the latest mac drivers (1.32). I also tried it first with the original SL drivers. I have tried it with both the EFI bios and the standard PC bios.

Any suggestions? I'm getting nowhere with anything else I've tried. Has anyone seen/had any similar problems with a raid card?

Gigabyte GA-X58-UDR3 Perfectly working

Running Chameleon_2.0_RC4

Network - Apple supports 8169 Out of the box in 10.6.2 so no Realtek1000SL.kext is needed. Made a mistake it's 8111C deviceID.

Sound fully working using cparms LegacyHDA.kext and HDEF DSDT

ASUS Geforce 9800GT working via GFX String in com.apple.boot.plist

Kexts that i'm currently using:

Fakesmc.kext - required to boot

NullCPUPowermanagement.kext - required to boot

OpenHaltRestart.kext - Works in 32bit but not working in 64bit so will have to find another solution.

Replaced OpenHaltRestart.kext with EvOreboot.kext now everything works, Restart and Shutdown.

PlatformUUID.kext - Inserts UUID into the OS.

LegacyHDA.kext - 64bit version made by cparm

AppleIntelPIIXATA.kext - ATA kext required for ATA devices.

IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext - AHCI Injector.

JMicronATA.kext - ATA kext required for ATA devices.

10.6.2 Sleepenabler.kext by netkas. - Fixes sleep in 10.6.2

All Kexts are 64bit enabled.

Removed the flag from com.apple.boot so i can run the kernel by 64bit default.

So now i have GFX/Sound/LAN all working.

Sleep/Restart and Shutdown fully work.

Feel free to use the kexts attached

GA_X58_UDR3.zip Only for 10.6.2 as a few kexts won't work for 10.6.1 or 10.6 for e.g sleepenabler etc.

A BIG THANKYOU TO DIGITAL_DREAMER FOR MAKING MY SETUP WORK.

You have ethernet working out of the box? I have a UD3R and never seemed to have that working. Are you using some DSDT fix or something?

Nope Apple supports Realtek 8169 by default from the 10.6.2 update, AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext v1.1 loaded 64bit

I'm not running Realtek1000SL.kext, only the ones inside my zip file and stated. I have included my DSDT for the people running X58-UDR3, Because my board will be identical to other UDR3's.

If your using a hackingtosh you might need a modified SATA kext or ATA kexts, just an idea i might be wrong.

Hi Atlee,

I'm curious, are you referring to the GA-EX58-UD3R or the GA-X58A-UD3R? If it's the EX58, which board rev. (1.6, 1.7)?

Looking at the specs, it appears that the EX58's have the Realtek RTL8111C, while the X58A uses the RTL8111D. Are you sure you have an 8169? I'm planning on purchasing the X58A and I'd like to have all the pieces in place before I start.

Thanks for any feedback,

Lyle

My on board LAN, no longer used, is a RTL8111D on a UD5. It says so in the manual and was also detected as

such. AFAIK the RTL8111D is the same spec as the RTL8168D. It worked fine with Realtek1000SL.kext both 32bit and 64 giving native bonjour support

It never worked with native kexts for me despite changing device-id etc in DSDT.

In the end I bought the apple pci-e card which unsurprisingly does work out of the box (it is a Intel82574L)

however you may be interested in a cheaper alternative

PS benefits of native support are WOL, Jumbo frames if your router supports them & variable MTU,

plus a couple of other features such as hardware checksum checking (offloads from cpu)

My mistake it's Realtek 8111C and yes it works by default. I have rev 1.7 of this board.

Hi Josh,

If that's the only mistake you make in a hackintosh build, you're doing well! Thanks for the quick reply and for sharing your results. Looks like I might be able to pick up the X58A tonight. I'll try to post my results here as well.

Hey everyone who was having issues with sleep,

I got it working by uninstalling MacFuse

sleep problem isn't macfuse related, sleep needs a modified kext or DSDT patch.

Also i have audio kext's from cparm modified to work with vanilla appleHDA.kext so i'm just editing them to match the UDR3. Will post when i'm successful i would rather it show all out's and in's.

not to mention FINALLY getting my Compaq V6000 laptop to not only work with SL 10.6.2, but ALSO full audio, sleep, LAN, bluetooth, graphics, etc. I ran the script to install to a flash drive attached to my existing Macbook Pro and then compiled and installed my custom DSDT.

Could you post your dsdt for the Compaq V6000 laptop??

I can't get mine to work at all.

The thing with sleep is that it is designed to be over-rideable by software. It may be set up to work but

software features such as various sharing options, internet flash pages, remote desktop, dropbox (?), etc

can all prevent sleep. This applies to idle sleep, software sleep via the menu is different in that it can

override any software demands to keep awake.

If you think about it, if you want to share your computer resources with other computers you probably don't

want your computer to sleep every 15 mins

ok well for audio i got everything working, DSDT + LegacyHDA.kext with removed BuiltInHDA key so now that it fully works with vanilla AppleHDA.kext 1.7.9a4 , 4 outs 2 ins, Green Headphones/Speakers, Pink Mic, Line-in, Digital, other holes for a 5.1 system which hasn't been tested but will do when i get myself a 5.1 set but i'm sure it will work by joining all 3 connections in the midi section.

So why don't you try to configure it manually then to see what happens?

Or try pressing the assist me button

Hey, thanks for your response!

But also this dont works! The small LEDs on the LAN port are all switched off... .under Linux networking works perfectlty!

Hi pcace,

When looking at the screen shot you supplied of the kext/kernel installer of D_D's script, I noticed that your RealtekR1000.kext file lists its architecture as "N/A". If you have the current working version, it should display x86_64. I also noticed that you're running v4.10 of the script.

Have you always been running V4.10, or is it possible you were using V4.22 and somehow went back to the older version?

If you still don't have access once you have the versions sorted out (best to have everything the same as the people who are trying to assist), try removing/re-adding your Ethernet adapter form the Network Preference Pane. Make sure you hit "Apply" before re-adding.

Good luck,

Lyle

TANKS!!!

PS.: Next Question: Right now i use a nVidia 9800GT in my hackintosh. I'm thinking about adding a 260GTX to have one more openCL capable device. Is it possible to have both parallel working? would it improve renderingspped, when using openCL renderer?

Three questions, for those with the EX58-UD5 + 10.6.2:

  1. What are your typical startup times?

  2. Does chameleon/variant have an oddly slow phase, before osX begins loading?
...eg. when typing boot options, the keypresses register with noticeable delay, and the "loading extensions.mkext" messages appear slower than later phases of the boot process.

  3. Do you have device removal errors, with usb drives, after waking from hibernate? (not sleep)
...Note: I had to compile a modified chameleon variant before hibernate would work -- modification of aserebln's.
