Recommended Posts

I just tried it but still no luck with the reboot. Does it need to be in the /system or /extra?

It should be in Extra, check your bios settings again, sometimes it also helps to reset your bios and then match it to DD's bios screen shot

Can you help me,please ?

I don't know which version do i have to install on my PC.

My specs are :

CPU: Intel i7 920 @ 2.66ghz

Mobo: Gigabyte EX58-UD5

3 GB DDR3

GTX 285

2 x WD 6400 AAKS.

Please help me. Thanks in advance.

PS : is that any good ? Snow OSX UniFlash ...

Help you with what and what version are you referring to? This thread is for Installing SL and DD has provided a very easy way for Noobs. Just follow the guide or kindly be specific in what you need help with

wtf. you just stumbled into a very specific thread that has a script to install a specific version of OSX onto specific hardware.

yet you're asking a very vague and general question LOL. read the thread titles properly, champ.

Ronsega, Thanks for the info man thats good stuff. Which one exactly on that post did you use / download? Want to make sure I get the right one. Did you put voodooHDA.kext in /system and remove appleHDA.kext. I assume thats how but just to confirm. Thanks man.

I used "voodooHDA.kext.zip" and " VoodooHDA_Pref.zip"

I put voodooHDA.kext in /S/L/E and appleHDA.kext is still present in /S/L/E

The VoodooHDA_Pref.zip installs as a preference pane in System Preferences.

Why would you wanna install Leopard when you can install Snow Leopard. There is another thread on installing Leopard on your setup. This thread is specifically for Snow Leopard

" PREPARATION

  1. It is ideal to have two physical drives (not two partitions on the same drive) or, at least, another Mac system to work from.
  2. One drive must already have OS X installed and running.
This may mean using another Mac or installing a easy-to-use distro like Kalyway on the smaller/slower drive. (I only mention Kalyway, because it is the only distro I'm familiar with and know works well with this board. There are certainly more recent distros that can achieve equal success.)
  3. Partition your target drive in Disk Utility using the GUID Partition Table (in Options button).
  4. Make an ISO of your Retail DVD and download the Combo update, if needed.

Not 100% sure but in the preferences pane go to the displays pane and uncheck the mirror screens, or check expand desktop to this display something to that effect. I believe the default for osx is to mirror the display just gotta tell it to extend.

Yes,of course.Because you asked me why should i install Leopard, instead SL.

" 2 One drive must already have OS X installed and running."

I don't understand here. All i have now installed is Windows XP. I have 2 HDD.

The first one is : C and D ,and the second hdd is E .I tried today to install SL Universal v 3.5 ,but after i press -v,nothing happent, the computer restart over and over again.

I wanted to know which SL would be ok,if i wanna install it ( hackintosh version,of course )

My english is not very good,so if i read some posts,i don't understand exactly.

Ok my bad then, you cant install SL unless you have a working Leopard install or a mac running Leopard already or yet again a bootCD that will allow you to install from the Install DVD. Like you posted yourself from the first page of this thread. Find kalway, download and install it and then you can install SL from there. If you dont want to get rid of your WinXP partition, you can check the link in my signature, there is a short guide there on using a Chameleon BoootCD for installing from the Retail DVD

Everything seems to be working great. I am still trying to figure out if my Ram is being recognized correctly by SL. In my "about this mac" > "more info" my ram is listed as DDR2 667 MHz. Anyone have this similar situation. Im thinking that it is really at 1600mhz like the bios see's and SL is just fooling me. Anyone?

The benchmarks for the 58xx are very similar to those of the Nvidia 2xx series cards, preferably the 285's and 295's. I will advice you to get one of those, if you still insist on purchasing the 58xx then you will have to wait till the new macpro's come out in the last quarter of the year if you are lucky and even if Apple will include them in their line up.

I have now the SL retail version. But is .dmg file. ( 7.1 GB )

After i read a lot of stuff about installing,i decided to give it a try with Empire EFI.

I download it,i have it already on the CD as bootable, but here i'm stuck.

I'm asked to insert the Snow Leopard -press F5 and continue.

How could i change the .dmg file in .iso ? I tried with Magic ISO,converted in .iso , but from 7.1 GB remained only 900 MB ?? (I have only Windows XP,now )

Okay, let's say it's compressed the image, whatever, but now .... how do i get this image bootable ?

I mean, when Empire EFI ask me to insert the Snow Leopard, that means, this image what's on the DVD must be bootable, right ? I know i'm close, please help me guys :(

Cheers.

what kind of benchmarks do people get with opengl extensions viewer. I find mine increase as I overclock the

i7 cpu.

I asked this question before on a dedicated thread when SL came out, I never got a response though

I was thinking about ATI and Nvidia diffs

On a 4780 I get about 183-5 at stock cpu speed, faster if overclocked

Reimaged one of my evga i7 sli machines over the weekend and noticed that the About this mac dialog now shows "Quad-Core Intel Xeon" I attempted to use the option in the script to set it to i7 920 but no luck. Runing 10.6.2

any thoughts on this ?
