I'm trying to get the utility on the main page to patch the kernel on a drive that I will be using on an AMD system. However, I can't seem to select the AMD kernel to install to the new drive. How do I do this?

Any kernel (and system.kext) that is directly inside the Kernels folder, not inside a enclosing folder, will appear in the Kext/Kernel Installer.

A question - if you want to manage your own UUID, can you just specify any string you want, or does it have to meet a specific format?

The format needs to be a 32-digit hexadecimal string, 5 groups separated by hyphens, in the form 8-4-4-4-12. Following that, yes, it can be anything.

Naturally, the UUIDs present in your Preferences/ByHost folder need to be all the same. If you add a new UUID, your system will behave like a new account has been added (at least for the software and OS subsystems that rely on it). Looking at the preferences in the ByHost folder will give you a good idea of what is affected by the UUIDs.

The script (Plist editor) will allow you to enter a custom UUID or generate a new one for you. Note that this is for the "SMUUID" key in the smbios.plist, not to be confused with the boot-uuid in the boot.plist.

When installing via Kext Installer, the script will examine the smbios.plist for a UUID (SMUUID key), if not present it will use the UUID that was present in a previously installed UUID injector (PlatformUUID.kext or UUID.kext). If that fails, it looks for one in the UUID injector that is currently being installed. If all else fails, it generates a new one.

When a platform UUID has been determined, it is plugged into the injector being installed, into the smbios.plist, and the injector in the script's folder. That way, if the UUID is lost from any two of these sources, we will have at least one other source to get it. The purpose of all this is to keep the UUID the same for your system, in spite of what may get installed, uninstalled, patched, or borked.

please help me! in the 6th point my install ever fail after customize

Even after turning off all other options in "Customize?"

Progress made!

- updated to 10.6.2

- 32-bit/64-bit boots up

- sound works

- sleep works

But reboot and shutdown hangs in 64-bit, works in 32-bit

Also the fade-in/out transition isn't working. It does some kind of blank screen refresh with some kind of tearing effect, like so

.

Hardware acceleration (QE/CI?) appears to be working according to Prasys' blog

Transitions worked fine with iatkos 4 using nvinject. Using the GraphicsEnabler in 10.6.2, also tried using NVinject/NVenabler with no luck.

system specs again:

GA-X58-UD5

i7 920

evga 8800 GTX 768MB

I used DD's script/method for the install. I moved kexts in /Extra based on CruiSar post to get to 10.6.2

Any ideas on the reboot/shutdown in 64-bit and the transition effects?

Hello everyone. I used dd's guide and everything works except for a few things.

I can't get my firewire to work. System profiler states "unable to list firewire devices" and on bootup it states firewire runtime conservation error.

Has anyone figured out how to fix under 10.6.2 the black screen when connected through hdmi to a display from graphics card?

Also I was curious as why I get the 8152 netflix error with Chameleon RC4 and not RC3? I rolled back to RC3 for now, but I was wondering nonetheless how to make it work in RC4? I added the ethernet string to my boot plist.

My specs are as follows:

Using Chameleon RC3 under 10.6.2 w/all kexts installed in the extra folder except for the realtek ethernet kext which is in system.

UD5 mobo

i7 920 cpu

6 GB Corsair memory

9800 GTX+ 1Gb HDMI

sorry for bad english.

i installed SL but i have screen corrupted .. i have sapphire hd 4850 512.. what can i do??

today is my 18th birthday!! the best gift that i can receive is Snow!! pleaseeee

In your com.apple.boot.plist, set this string:

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>

<string>Yes</string>

And for the first time, boot with ATY_init.kext in S/L/E and in 32 bit -> arch=i386 as kernel flag. And make sure that the first time, you boot with -s and do the buildcache command!

After you have booted for the first time (and it works), you can safely delete ATY_init.kext (and rebuild the cache!) and you can boot in 64-bit (arch=x86_64).

If it doesn't work in 64 bit, try the EVOenabler.kext (in Extra or S/L/E).

I do not own the radeon 4850, these are just common instructions which I would give if you had any HD Radeon card! But maybe it works... it would be a good birthday gift .

I've been bashing my head against my computer for the past 10 days, attempting my first hackintosh build.

Gigabyte X58 UD5 / Nvidia 9800 GT 1gb video card.

After following DD's script multiple times, I got a system up and running. Network card only works when Realtek1000SL kext is installed in /system, rather than in /extra. Sound seems to work. No sleep, and I get a lockup on restart/reboot

My biggest problem is the videocard- OSX knows it's an nvidia, but only sees 32mb ram, and QE or CE don't seem to be working. I've tried generating my own EFI strings in SL and Leo via the gfxutil and the EFIStudio programs. None of these strings seem to make a difference- everytime I edit my com.apple.boot.plist and restart, I get the same results. Do I need to do something else to implement these EFI strings? I have no graphics kexts installed.

I've also noticed that the -v arch=i386 is in the plist, but if I boot regularly in PC-EFI it runs in 64bit, non verbose.

So is there another plist somewhere? Or is PC-EFI using other values?

-Tom

What's wrong with firewire? it just works, you shouldn't need to do anything to it other than make sure that any

application that uses it is SL compatible

I assume you've enabled Firewire in your bios?

While I am not yet successful in SNL, I have had good success using EFIStudio to set my card up. I have the EVGA NVidea 9800 512. Using that GUI was incredibly easy, and it works. I am looking to see ... it also appears to have a setting for the one Gig (nVidea GeForce 9800 GT [G92] - 1024 MB) card as well. This has worked for me in Leopard and in SNL.

Good luck.

PS - re-reading I see you tried this method already with no luck? Sorry to have mentioned it then. The 512 has worked quite consistently for me.

I successfully installed Windows 7 on a partiton off my slave hard drive. However, when I boot up I don't have choices in Chameleon which OS I want. However I can access the Windows 7 fine with Parellels.

Also, is anyone experiencing when restarting the computer, the sound is default at a high volume?

If you mean you have SL on one drive and windows 7 on another (that's my set up)

SL is set up as my boot drive, I can use chameleon to pick windows but because I have the timer set it just shows

SL, but if I then hit tab before timer runs out it shows both. Then I can select windows but sleep doesn't seem to

work properly on windows

If I use f12 at boot and select which disk to boot from it seems to work better

no probs with sound
