You don't need to do anything else with that DSDT.aml after that, because what you do on the next step the script will implement that DSDT.aml into the file which will then boot the OS install disk for your specific motherboard. Thats why you don't need to do anything else on your part, but just proceed to the next step on the instruction. Hope this explanation will help, and not to confuse you even further.

OK now another problem. When I boot installer with my flash drive screen apple logo appears and nothing else happens. I'm thinking, maybe it has something to do with leopard installend on my hard drive as I havn't ever been able to install snow leopard with vanilla kernel - it always end up the same. Well, that I don't have the answer to your question, because there are so many variety issue. You have to partition as GUID partition table in order to load S/L.

First of play around with your bios setting, then restart and wait a little longer and see if it will go. Also keep in mind that this method may not work with some Mobo, at the end if this doesn't go for you, you can try different preboot mothod like the one from Empire EFI (Praysys' Blog).

Agree with macusers, you should persist a little while longer... at least a few minutes but for an install from USB I'd go get a coffee and come back in 15..... just to give plenty of time. And try booting safe too -x and verbose -v

Hi guys! Well, this's my first attemp ever to play with MacOS on a pc, so bear with me please

 

Here's my rig specs:

- Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L (F5 Bios) MB.

- Intel E8400

- 4 GB. RAM

- PowerColor ATI HD3870 PCIe card

- 1x 320GB. sata HDD

- 1x 120GB. IDE HDD

- 1x Sony DVD drive

 

I followed the guide on the 1st page and used the following:

- A GA-EP35-DS3L (F5 Bios) DSDT file from another member here who managed to get everything working just fine.

- The original Kexts which are included in the MacLoader_SL kit.

 

The restore and the preparation of the USB flash was inside of a VMware of SL.

I used just a USB flash stick and followed the instructions step by step, everything went ok, yet i should mention that when executing the 2_SnowLeoInstaller script, i got an error near the end, somehting about the MBR couldn't be written to the flash, but everything else went ok and i got a "completed" message.

 

Booting of the flash stick goes ok all the way to the apple logo and the spinning circle and that's it, it just keep spinning and nowhere else it goes. Tried booting with -x32, -x, disabled the IDEs & the built-in audio & LAN, still the same.

What i might be doing wrong? maybe a 3870 driver needed? more Kexts? bios settings?

Clueless and need any kind of help.

UPDATE:

 

After many hours reading and tinkering with many variables/kexts/bios settings, i managed to get the installer to show up by deleting ATIRadeonX2000.kext in /System/Library/Extensions in the USB stick.

 

PS. You have to show hidden files first, if you don't know how, do:

# defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

# killall Finder

 

So if anyone is having the installer not showing up at all with a 3870 card, trying deleting the above mentioned file to see how it goes.

 

I'll report back my advanture after installing/configuring the system.

Did you install the Bootloader into the EFI partition as mentioned in the guide?

If not, then head back to post #1 and check the Post-Installation part to do so.

I have recognized the "Code Type: X86-64 (Native)" in the error message. But i have booted with kernel parameter "arch=x86_32".

Hello Everybody.

 

This is my first post here, but I have been and still am using this excellent forum for troubleshooting!

 

I am currently running kalyway 10.5.2 vanilla kernel 9.2.2, with everything working, however to run Pro Tools 8 I really want to upgrade to 10.6 (at least).

 

I've a dedicated disk running Mac OS 10.5.2 with chameleon 2 RC2 installed (triple boot: windows 7 and ubuntu). I really dont want to run into some KP when trying to update kalyway, so I've made a new MacOSX partition on that same drive where I would like to install 10.6 retail.

 

I've made a bootable USB stick with 10.6 retail installation. containing dsdt.aml file myHACK bootloader and my kexts.

Long story short - Here's the problem:

 

When I boot from USB in verbose it starts to load in the kexts. But then it says: starting up or something, it happens very fast. The screen goes black though it is still illuminated, and nothing happens.

 

What am I doing wrong here? If the disks or partitions where a problem i would still enter the installation stuff. I really dont get it.

 

Here's my specs:

 

ASUS P5WD2 motherboard

CORE 2 DUO T"whatever" 2.66 GHz

3 GB DDR2 Ram.

+ a couple of harddrive all connected by SATA.

I'm Using an AMD Athlon64 Processor with 1GB of DDR2 on an ECS Nforce4-M Motherboard and an ATI Radeon x1950 Graphics Card. I am able to get the Grey Apple to come up but that's about it, No spinning sticks or anything, it just hangs, I can't get it into verbose either to identify the issue. Is this because I'm using it on an AMD processor?

I've been installing Hacked MacOSX from 10.4, 10.5, up to 10.5.8, and now snow leopard up to 10.6.3 (2 weeks ago), but I'm still in the dark about DSDT... I did try to do it, but this one topic really threw me off, and I admit, I'm lost....

 

I'm running 2 hackintosh machines currently, stably I might add - running everything but the kitchen-sink, on a GA-EP35-DS3, and another on GA-EG41M-ES2L. No DSDT involved... just used a hacked installer that installed the usual basic kexts... with changed kexts on fakesmc, NCPM, SleepEnabler and voodooHDA (8 kexts changed from vanilla) - before and after 10.6.3 updates. And my machine is running flawlessly.... Am I missing something?

 

Is DSDT mandatory... and I've been doing all these wrongly? Have a look:

Hi guys! Well, this's my first attemp ever to play with MacOS on a pc, so bear with me please

 

Here's my rig specs:

- Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L (F5 Bios) MB.

- Intel E8400

- 4 GB. RAM

- PowerColor ATI HD3870 PCIe card

- 1x 320GB. sata HDD

- 1x 120GB. IDE HDD

- 1x Sony DVD drive

 

I followed the guide on the 1st page and used the following:

- A GA-EP35-DS3L (F5 Bios) DSDT file from another member here who managed to get everything working just fine.

- The original Kexts which are included in the MacLoader_SL kit.

 

The restore and the preparation of the USB flash was inside of a VMware of SL.

I used just a USB flash stick and followed the instructions step by step, everything went ok, yet i should mention that when executing the 2_SnowLeoInstaller script, i got an error near the end, somehting about the MBR couldn't be written to the flash, but everything else went ok and i got a "completed" message.

 

Booting of the flash stick goes ok all the way to the apple logo and the spinning circle and that's it, it just keep spinning and nowhere else it goes. Tried booting with -x32, -x, disabled the IDEs & the built-in audio & LAN, still the same.

What i might be doing wrong? maybe a 3870 driver needed? more Kexts? bios settings?

Clueless and need any kind of help.

Hey. Very nice guide, almost got me going all the way.

 

I got as far as installing SL without any errors, i could boot into SL. I suppose i got stuck somewhere around the last step.

 

"Open again the MacLoader_SL folder then double-click the "3_MacLoader" file and follow prompts."

 

I did that, however im always a little unsure if i should hit 'Enter', type "/volumes/SnowLeopard/" or just "SnowLeopard"

 

SnowLeopard beeing the partition where i installed SL.

 

However, i did use the prompt and it extracted some things and i rebooted. Now where i press any key and choose Snowleopard harddrive it wont boot up. It quickly says it encounterd some errors, and then it continues to load to a white screen with ze big apple, and thats where i am stuck now.

 

Any ideas of what i could do?

You only need to type the Name of your HDD where the snow Leopard just got installed, for instant : " Macintosh HD" . when it ask to enter the delay time you have to enter something like 2 second or 5 second etc.... If you leave it blank it won't work, I don't know why. Good luck.

edit: now i managed to boot to osx with the usb stick after installign it with "myhack" and booting it with mac loader. but now when i try to reboot it without the usb drive i get a kernel panic saying

 

"should have 2 threads, but only found 3 for die 1"

 

anyone has an idea how to make it work without the usb stick? ive tried to install the "myhack" bootloader as well as "macloader" both the same...
