nenitosoyyo
Click Here for Guide So I managed to install ideneb 10.5.7 everything seems to work except my Quartz Extreme and Core Image, this is what it looks like: Nvidia GeForce GO 7900 GS: Chipset Model: Nvidia GeForce GO 7900 GS Type: Display Bus: PCIe PCIe Lane Width: x16 VRAM (Total): 256 MB Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de) Device ID: 0x0298 Revision ID: 0x00a1 ROM Revision: NVinjectGo 0.2.0 Displays: Display: Resolution: 1440 x 900 Depth: 32-Bit Color Core Image: Software Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Not Supported QuartzGL: Supported Display Connector: Status: No Display Connected So I edited these files: NVinjectGo.kext NVDANV40Hal.kext NVDAResman.kext GeForce.kext I deleted all NVDANVxxHAL kexts except NVDANV40Hal.kext In Plist Edit Pro I Edited NVDANV40Hal and added 0x029110de to IOPCIPrimaryMatch in there and the same to NVDAResman and GeForce. and in NVinjectGo I edit the chip model and IOPCIMatch to 0x029110de&0x0000ffff I have tried other things as well but I am not getting anywhere... Please if anyone could let me know what I am doing wrong, I just want to get my iLife09 working, it wont load with out Quartz Extreme. Thanks. (When Ever I get over with this problem I will for sure post a guide on how to install all this, its so hard with so little help, but I did learn a lot.) nenitosoyyo
Well since I haven't got a reply back, I know I sound impatient but I am just stressed, I will reinstall leopard 10.5.7 for the 40th time.... ugh i hate this, I am really regretting buying the ilife 09 I thought I was going to be able to use it... I am going to give everything I have tried again and see what happens, I kept getting way to many crashes after editing stuff. I just wish out of the 300 and somewhat members online, if only one of them could help, I am pretty sure I am not the only one in this big world that runned into this problem. EDIT 12:00AM: oh and maybe this might help maybe I did something wrong in the install on the cd for iDeneb 1.5.1 10.5.7 when I choose things in customize: (oh I also had one of my cpu disabled in BIOS so it was only running on 1 cpu) Once that was done it booted into mac fine I installed Dell Laptops Post-installer v 1.4.1 only selecting the Sigmatel 9200 because my sound was not working, and that fix the sound problem. Then to have both cpu's running or processors(w/e you call it) with Voodoo_Kernel_Release_1.0_Rev_A because the post-installer didn't have 9.7 - 10.5.7 only up to 9.6 kernel, lovely no. anyways restarted the os x and when I made it to dell screen before going into mac os x I hit F2 to get into Bios, I went to performance and enabled my 2nd cpu/processor and save the setting and exit, then I loaded back into mac os x and I had to cpu's running, which is good! but I checked out my graphics and yes it said Core Image: Software and Quartz Extreme: Not Supported like I have shown above, now I tried many things that I have googled and search on these forums and other forums, but no luck on on the fix so far. EDIT 1:09AM: Installed iDeneb 1.5.1 10.5.7 and same problem, gonna try edit some of the kext's files again without deleting any other stuff, I really am hoping it works, if you think you might have an idea let me know please and thanks, even a "I had the same problem", just hearing it from another person on here will be nice, I just feel super alone on this. EDIT 2:13AM: So far no luck, I found another installer its called 9f23 installer but it doesn't work I think for 10.5.7 didn't notice that till after. I tried all the stuff I did before a no luck either, maybe I am going to have to downgrade to 10.5.6 and try it, but i still think its gonna be the same. Anyways gonna keep looking, if you know any tips, info, or w/e please reply, I would be really happy. nenitosoyyo
Ok so I gave this guide a try but when I restarted the computer and I was hoping all would go well I got up to apple logo with the spinning wheel of death, then the spinning wheel froze and it stayed stuck on the gray apple logo screen?? What do I do, and heres the guide I followed. (11)Type CODE cd /System/Library/Extensions nano GeForce.kext/Contents/info.plist (12)Edit the string CODE <key>IOPCIMatch</key> <string>0×000010de&0×0000ffff</string> to your nVidia graphics card’s device ID. Make sure to delete the &0×0000ffff after your device id. This is the vendor ID and it may look a little different in your info.plist but it doesn’t matter because we have to delete it. I have a geforce 7900gs so my id was 0×0292. So the newly edited line looks like: CODE <key>IOPCIMatch</key> <string>0×029210de</string> Save the file. Now type: CODE nano NVDAresman.kext/Contents/info.plist The lines in this file are a little different from the previous ones, edit your Device ID again in THIS line: CODE <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string>0×000010de&0×0000ffff</string> With an nVidia GeForce 7900GS card, the newly edited line will look like: CODE <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string>0×029210de</string> Save the file Now do the same for NVDANV40Hal.kext: CODE nano NVDANV40Hal.kext/Contents/info.plist Edit the following lines in NVDAN40Hal.kext/Contents/info.plist for your Device ID: CODE <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string>0×000010de&0×0000ffff</string> With an nVidia GeForce 7900GS card, the newly edited line will look like: CODE <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string>0×029210de</string> Save the file. Now do the same exact same steps above for NVINJECT.kext. Save the file. (13)Reboot. EDIT 3:32AM: Missed this part (14)This time at boot time, press a key, and then type “-f -v” to start your iAtkos installation. It should have worked unless you did something wrong. I know it says iAtkos but I am running out of ideas... EDIT 3:35AM: Ok i entered -f -v and booted but while it was loading all this info going up seemed all fine but then it stop at this localhost /usr/sbin/ocspd[87]: starting, its be stuck for 6 mins now not changing. Anybody know what I could do to get my Quartz Extreme working on 7900 GS 256mb?? its all I want to do, anyone out there? Gimenez
Do these simple steps: http://w17.easy-share.com/1701746804.html Download this file and place it on desktop. Remove all your video card kexts from you Extension directory... (NVInject, NVHush, Geforce, etc etc) all video card {censored}. Once you deleted all, restart and type "-x" to boot on safe mode. EDIT: I have download this 9f23 installer but it never worked for me before, but in order for it to work I need to have all video kext out of my extensions folder? but one thing I noticed about this file was that it said it was for 10.5.5 will it work with 10.5.7, sorry just want to make sure I am doing this properly thanks. vilpostus
If you did a fresh install, there is no need to delete anything then (simply cos there is nothing to delete ) If its for 10.5.5, then it is not suitable for 10.5.7. So try one of the files I've suggested. nenitosoyyo
Das_Human - I hate to bother again, but I was deciding to go with CoreVidia, should I go with version 1.1 or 1.2? I had to reinstall the 10.5.7, just wondering if i should install the video drivers from the cd, I know they dont work, but just worried that if I don't install them that when I boot into os x that it wont load? vilpostus
...should I go with version 1.1 or 1.2? I guess 1.1, there is no difference though. Start from the older one. If it doesn't work delete it and install the newer one. I had to reinstall the 10.5.7, just wondering if i should install the video drivers from the cd, I know they dont work, but just worried that if I don't install them that when I boot into os x that it wont load? Do not install any VGA drivers during a fresh install. It is always better to install them later. Cos' pre installed drivers may some times cos unnecessary complications. OS X will perfectly boot without any VGA driver installed. You just have a very low resolution 1280x1024 or so. After installing the right driver and a restart, you'll get the full resolution automatically. Just don't forget to boot with the -v flag to see if any errors. Thanks, then hopefully after all this I can go to sleep. I don't know how to lower resolution with out getting into os x. argh why does this have to be so complicated lol, I wish I could just wave a wand and fix it, I just really want to get the corevidia driver installed to see if it works, anyways, any ideas?? EDIT: I also have Chameleon v2 installed could that be effecting it not to load?? I also tried "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32" in f8 but it didnt work? EDIT: I am not going to give up, I am going to reinstall the os x for like the millionth time lol and just install the video drivers I did the first time, to see if it works, one thing though is that I never tried the NVDarwin 256mb video driver in the installation cd, I wonder if it would work, but I have a feeling it wouldn't i dunno. EDIT: CoreVidia 1.1.mpkg installer didn't work, I choose 256mb and NVDAResman 10.5.7 , did nothing else and rebooted and Quartz Extreme: Not Supported..... argh.... how do uninstall CoreVidia 1.1?? so I can try CoreVidia 1.2 edit: ok never mind I figured out how to uninstall, I edited the CoreVidia plist and change the strobe string from 0 to 60000 not sure if that will work, gonna give it a try. nenitosoyyo
Thanks again, just waiting to reboot and hopefully it works, apparently the 1.2 is suppose to be more compatible with the portable video cards i think. but anyways I hope it works. I noticed in other posts when people install new kext or installers they have to reset permission and refresh extensions caches??? do you have to? vilpostus
Yes it is obligatory to set the correct permissions and delete extensions cache after installing any kexts, otherwise the kext won't load. The best way to do this is to use the OSx86Tools. It has all the needed functions to maintain OSX86 system, including kext installation. nenitosoyyo
OMG maybe thats why nothing is working, stupid stupid me!!! (Smacks himself in the face lol) ok ok so what to do, do I uninstall the corevidia in terminal then reinstall corevidia 1.1 then, correct permissions and delete extensions cache right just want to get the right order. Which options do I choose from OSx86 **repair permission** set extensions permissions **clear extensions cache** clear user application cache clear system application cache run croon maintenance scripts updating prebinding touch extensions folder which ones to choose??? I am guessing the ones I stars out right then I would reboot, and do I do this when i uninstall stuff too? and its ok if I use kext helper b7 to install kext? nenitosoyyo
Ok so I uninstalled and then reinstalled did the repair permissions and clear extensions cache, but it still doesnt work it says what my card is but it still says Quartz Extreme not supported and Core Image still says software.... anymore ideas gonna give this option a try now http://netkas.org/?p=107 . I wonder if QE being supported will shed light on me... it seems to be only a dream to get this working, is really impossible to get this working with 10.5.7? with Go 7900 GS?? EDIT: are there any other people with the Inspiron 9400 NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS 256mb who have 10.5.7 and which distro of 10.5.7 and maybe which kext's you used to get your card working for 10.5.7 thanks. oh and a big thank you to Das_Human for his generous help even though i wasn't sucessful and Gimenez thanks for the info. vilpostus
Well. If you install a kext with OSx86Tools or KextHelper, these apps will automatically set the right permissions for the kext. A said note about permission repair. One need to set permissions only to the kext you install. You may also repair permissions of all the kexts in Extensions folder, but its only needed in case of: if you not sure what is the name of the installed kext if you have installed several kexts at once if you want to be sure that all kexts have the right permissions In any other case it is only needed to set permission for the particulare (just installed) kext. You can delete any kext via finder. Locate it and send it to trash. You'll be asked to enter the password. It OK, to do like that. To install a kext use the tools mentioned above. Do as follows: Install with OSX86Tools or KextHelper. After that in OSX86Tools click "clear extensions cache". This will delete Extensions cache. Then restart. Now if want to repair permissions of all the kexts, click "repair permission". And the last one. If you'd like to repair permissions for all the system files (it is useful to do now and then) use the Disk Utility. select the disk you want to repair permissions to, and click " repair permissions' Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/183740-solvedcant-get-quartz-extreme-to-work-for-go-7900-gsguide-on-how-to-install-iatkos-v7-on-inspiron-9400e1705/#findComment-1249873 Share on other sites
