10.6.6 killed my sleep :)

I'm waiting for a sleepenabler 10.6.6 version urgently , all the tricks (add pmVersion=21) to boot do not work

What part died? The "sleep after $MIN" or manual sleep mode? I can put mine to sleep manually (and wake up) without issue.

i haven't tried manual sleep but should be the same

yes the automatic sleep after X min doesn't not work anymore (pleasesleep worked great for that), the computer stays on now whatever i do

there is a sleepenabler.kext around that causes no KP but it freezes the hac when going to sleep, computer is still on (all fans and led on) but mouse or keyboard strokes have no effect.

no good.

i'm waiting for a true 10.6.6 kext

Interesting. I just tried mine, and manual sleep works fine, but the 'sleep after X min' doesn't appear to work (this is the first time I've actually tried it).

I don't know if it's a limitation of the DSDT (my current one is what the autopatcher came up with from a few pages back starting with, well, no DSDT file), something with Chameleon, FakeSMC, or just some kind of plain old incompatibility with the board/BIOS/phase of the moon.

It's not a big deal for me as I usually put mine to sleep when I'm done using it, but it would be nice to know that it's working correctly.

You should try pleasesleep, this piece of soft works wonders. It managed to force my hac to sleep though the sytem wouldn't make it happen. It works in relation with the energy saver panel and you can set some options like sleep exceptions. You don't want it to sleep when you're burning, downloading stuff or when there are some critical app you decide that are launched

hi there ^_^

made new tests of sleepenabler versions all around.

THIS one works for me with 10.6.6 , 64-bit boot and 64-bit kernel.

http://www.mediafire.com/?ya4hv8yv2v78ebs

install it with kextutility and reboot

You may have to use Pleasesleep to enable automatic sleep and anyway I strongly advise you to use it; it sits in your menubar and makes your Hac sleep regarding your energy saver settings.

http://www.dragonone.com/products/macosx/pleasesleep/

Manual sleep by apple menu also works.

This is my com.apple.boot.plist in Extra

Hello, few months back I have successfully installed Snow Leopard on my computer from the signature.

After that, I have installed every update ( 10.6.4, 10.6.5, 10.6.6), never had any problems, except with the sound, but that is no biggy and "sleep" as usual.

Few days ago a ran utility called Maintanance and today the Onyx, and both of them are asking me to repair the system by booting from SL DVD.

I have tried several times with the Empire EFI boot CD and DVD SL but I always get Kernel panic :D

Do not know why? When I installed it first time everything was ok, only diference was that the instalation of SL was on the tumb drive.

What should I do.

PS

What happened to Ridgelines web site? And do I need his instaler files after repair?

Are you having a specific problem that you need to fix? Typically when booting using a SL DVD to fix the system, it's so that you can run a disk check from Disk Utility on the system disk (which you cannot do if you've already booted from that same system disk). You can also try booting into Single User mode (holding down Command+"s" as you boot) then running Disk Utility.

You can perform the same type of disk scan using AppleJack, which I've successfully used on my hack. The project page is located here: AppleJack project page

Just a quick update on successfully updating my system (from posts 435 and 460), from 10.6.4 to 10.6.6. Here is how I did it:

 • Repaired permissions using Disk Utility.
 • Downloaded and ran the 10.6.6 combo updater
 • The update took a looong time, and ended up freezing. :(
 • Had to shutdown the machine manually.
 • Machine came back up, and was successfully upgraded to 10.6.6 :)
 • But audio wasn't working (greyed out speaker icon).
 • Downloaded and reinstalled AppleHDA1062.kext
 • Downloaded and ran Kext Utility

Restarted and audio worked again!

I wanted to add a quick note here about my own success with installing to rev 1.4 of this motherboard.

I used a mishmash of files mostly posted by ridgel1ne to this thread and another.

In summary, I have 10.6.6 running with only the fakesmc.kxt in my /Extra folder, and voodooHDA.kxt in my /System/Library/Extensions folder. Vanilla sleep works great, as does restart and shutdown. My video card is the Asus 8400GS silent that is fully recognized in OSX with no need for kexts, just GraphicsEnabler="yes".

I first tried #####/#####, then Kakewalk, but they didn't yield a system that would sleep - even with a proper DSDT.

I cannot get front mike working on the g41m-es2l rev 1.4 with BIOS F9, neither with ANY AppleHDA not VoodoHDA I have tried from all sorts of forums and threads. AppleHDA removed from S/L/E, only FakeSMC in E/E ..

In Windows 7 the front mike works fine, so it's not the jack.

If you have the front mike jack TESTED working with the rev. 1.4, would you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be so kind and attach or upload a zip package

with:

- all additional audio kexts you added in either S/L/E or E/E

- very important: boot, and dsdt.aml

- best the two plists from E/E

- WHICH BIOS DO YOU HAVE INSTALLED (pops up in the beginning in the top left of the black screen when you boot, something like F9 or F8)

I am really bummed because I got this board since it used to be SOO compatible except for graphics, and now they changed the audio codec with the 1.4 rev, what a pity.

Hoping hoping hoping - Thank you,

Bugs

Hi guys can someone confirm the best method to install with this motherboard as most of the links dont work. I have looked for EFI Empire but it seems to have been replaced with nawcoms disk so do I use that, also the links to ridgel1ne dont work.

Anyway I have a G41M-ES2L Revision 1.0 with a E5500 and a Innov3D GeForce 8800GT 512mb PCI-e Dual DVI. I have seen guides using ##### and ##### but I think its installing things I dont need.

I am trying to install as clean and stable as possible but there seem to be so many methods and loads of links dont work im getting a bit lost now.

Thanks in advance for you help.

------------------------------------

Also when I have installed using #####+SL 10.6.3+10.6.6 combi update and mutlibeast I have loads of problems getting the 8800GT to work and again the are loads of methods like EFI strings/DSDT files/enabler kexts which would also be the best method for this

Thanks for the private message I have used your files and it alls works now apart from the audio. Would the DSDT file not work if it was for a different revision number or BIOS Version. Just wondering as seems to be working OK but my processor does show as a 4GHz unknown instead of a Core 2 Duo 2.8 should I really edit this DSDT file for my exact revision and BIOS Version.

Ive been running with this one now for a couple of hours and all seems good graphics and general running wise and am just about to start working on some different kexts for the audio.

ok now i have osx Lion 10.7 installed on a second partition (not in vmware) and can use all functions of os

what is not working (as of this moment anyway) i just started messing around with kext

audio

wifi

sleep

restart (will close out of os but wont completly restart computer)

The only bummer is is that if you use bluetooth keyboard you have to have a seperate wired keyboard so you can get to the boot menu to boot from the usb bootloader (xpc) or (#####)

Unless someone knows how to get bluetooth keyboard to work at the gigabyte splash screen.

EDIT: audio is working with VoodooHDA.kext http://www.kexts.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=795

EDIT: remove AppleHDA.kext after voodoohda or you will get kp

restart and shutdown are working with EvOreboot.kext

http://www.kexts.com/view/136-evoreboot,_r...w_leopard..html

Graphics Card works with http://www.kexts.com/view/118-snow_leopard_nvenabler.html

all of these .kext go into S/L/E and then repair the permissions in terminal for those kext

Really great to hear the board is working with Lion... Will be updating to it to lion once retail is released and hopefully, a guide is composed. 10.6.7 still working flawless here. Excited for Lion!!

Same here, 10.6.7 is working, updated with no issue - everything is working.

Guys, I had to reinstall osX, but i have a problem. Where can I get Ridgeline's Installer files so i can get my machine running again?

I've uploaded the latest version that I had to the first post. Now, just to give you a heads up, it might not work. I'm at work and zipped it from a windows machine. Not sure how Windows deals with zipping mpkg files. If it doesn't work let me know and I'll do it from my Mac.

And I'll try to be fancy and add the link here too: [My fancy attachment idea didn't work. Just go to the first post instead]

I retired this board just two weeks ago. It's still a great board, but I wanted more RAM. I'm now rocking a GA-P67A-UD3-B3 board, with 16gb ram cause DDR3 is dirt cheap right now. First, the extra RAM and CPU make a huge difference in Aperture. I was worried I couldn't see a difference, but for photo processing it was worth it. And second, although the install is more involved, the compatibility has been great. After a clean install I had 1 finder lock up, that I think was due to a bad Bluray drive choice. Pulling the drive has fixed all issues so far.

So I can't test stuff or pull DSDT files, but I still have all my old stuff archived. Hope this helps!

GA-G41M-2ESL

E5700 Dual Core

2 Gig corsair DDR2

Asus GeForce 8400GS silent PCIe

10.6.6

Ridge1ine post installer 2.6.3

Used Ridge1ines 2.6.3 post installer. Upgraded to 10.6.6, used lnx2mac realtek kext for lan and finally used GigabyteALC88b6Ch.kext and HDAEnabler.kext make audio work(link http://www.mediafire.com/?jomygylxukj). for audio. My last problem is video. Using Asus 8400GS silent worked out of box with no additional kexts. In 10.6.3 I used modded NVDANV50Hal.kext ,NVDAResman.kext, NVEnabler64.kext and GeForce.kext that I found in one of the forums. This worked 100%. I was able to change resolutions, it detected my monitor correctly and no problems. After upgrading to 10.6.6 all I get is a flickering blue screen. If I remove the modded files and use it with graphics enabler=yes I get one resolution (1280 x 1024). Does anyone know how to restore full functionality in 10.6.6?

Have you looked for an EFI string for the video card? I had to use one with an earlier version of chameleon.

OK, I've run into an oddness after all this time that I can't seem to figure out.

Using the deep sleep widget available on the apple web site, I was able to successfully put the machine into deep sleep and bring it back, with one exception: my USB hub now is not seen by the system.

My first clue was when my mouse would not turn back on. After some experimenting, I found that devices plugged directly on the motherboard work fine.

Proof was acquired when I unplugged my bluetooth dongle and put the mouse in that port. The mouse works.

Putting the bluetooth dongle in the hub results in nothing. I've tried unplugging the hub and plugging it back in (power cycling it, if you will) with no change at all.

I don't think that the DSDT is the cause since the USB system came back up fine, the system is just ignoring the hub.

I've never quite seen this one before, and I'm not sure where to look. Any ideas or suggestions?
