brokenflipside
Hey noob between your guide and FlashGX I successfully had SL running on my intel DP35DP. Graphics were not 100% cant change resolution (geforce 9500gt 1gb) No sound No sleep Internet works! Updates Work! Unfortunately even though I never use it I thought I would set it to sleep, it froze immediately and rebooting loads chameleon but when I load SL I get a bootsector error, probably from the hard boot after the freeze, not to mention this was all being done on an 8gig usb stick. Ahh tomorrow is another day, I will debug the sound and video. If anyone needs a hand let me know, I am trying not to be a lurker here since this has been a hobby of mine on and off for months. Thanks guys for the great work! Keep it up! Edit Now that i try it on my internal i get the following kernel panic. I havent tried very hard to figure it out but i thought before i crashed for a bit i would see if anyone else had some thoughts. Thanks in advance for any insight at all. brokenflipside
forcewake=y if you keep getting that error. yes boot in 32 mode then -arch=i386 -v -x32 So i started over since I couldn't replicate how well the usb stick install worked. Now I have full graphic support Full Duplex Internet No sound Intel 82801IR (ICH9R) IDT STAC9271 audio codec And sometimes when I reboot the screen goes black, if I -v then it used to say appleusb error (i will get the specific info soon) Now it stopped giving me that error as soon as it says mach reboot the screen goes black and sometimes it reboots and sometimes I have to hard reboot. When it boots back up there is a few more appleUSB timeouts and not responding...once again I will have details in a little bit. Any thoughts about the sound would be great. TheGreatDeceiver
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=143340well this is an example of how to do it for a gma desktop. you need to add his and you will have to add another patch to handle the internal display. which I don't know how to do. i'm sure there is a guide somewhere. noob, thanks for all the help again. Great guide, I love the changes/improvements you made. I wanted to make a suggestion to add that ppl with Dells and C2Ds and GMA950 may experience problems with gma950 kexts not being loaded. So far, I have only been able to find people with core duos or core solos who got this to work with their Dell GMA950. The only installation I know at this point with C2D is my own . I realize that this is more of a special case, nothing generic, but I know a few people from the other forum that have C2Ds with GMA950. Cheers tgd btw.: your post starts with "updated 9/31/09 10:54pm PDST". I am curious which planet you are from

I am curious which planet you are from I noticed that this morning and fixed about 5 mins ago In your case does GMA950 work in x32? because coreduo doesn't support 64 so apple didn't create 64 support for the graphics kexts since their macbook's with intelgma950 can't boot into 64. since you have a core2duo you are able to. I desperately need somebody else with Dell/C2D/GMA950 try this, otherwise I get insane, hehe

noob766
Ya worked perfectly thanks. Now I am working on that reboot/shutdown problem.... turns out it is shutting down and rebooting, but it takes at least 30 seconds after the screen goes black before the bios boot screen appears. These errors are happening at start up, not sure what to do with them: AppleUsbHCI unable to initialize UIM System ShutDown false ACPI_snc_PlatformPlugin::start WaitingForService-ResourceMatching(appleIntelCPUmanagement) Timeout unplug usb drives at boot do you have nullcpupowermanagement.kext + openhaltrestart.kext booting? you might need a dsdt.aml with cmos patch. its all covered in the guide. Regardless of this annoyance, the guide works great and I can walk any other DP35DP user through a 98% functional SL rig --anyone needs some info let me know. Thanks! Thanks! just EFI/extra/extensions I misunderstood your issue. that is a really strange issue, but at least it works. you could try redoing the efi partition of the guide. to see if it speeds it up. but thats up to you. turtle2472
I think your video controller will work without any patching, so all you need is the JmicronATA.kext posted in the optional section and the other kexts in the needed section and you should be goodyou might need to change your sata set up in the bios if you have an issue, let me know if you need anymore help wait heres a solution to your graphics card heres an updated one that might work better EVOenabler.kext.zip if not check this forum http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=183064 I am booting up and looking good. The only bug to work out so far is my ethernet adapter. Intel 82567LM-2. Someone else posted on the forum for help but I havn't seen anything else about it. Graphics seem fine too. Thank you for everything so far!
innocuoussoul
So i started over since I couldn't replicate how well the usb stick install worked. Any thoughts about the sound would be great. hey broken, what kexts did you use? Sounds like you have close to the same chipset as me, im definitely interested to see what you did. iFrodo
I'm using the Boot-123 method to boot the Retail DVD, and it works just fine, but I've a question: Is there a way to still use MBR as partition table format, because my current Leopard installation is on MBR, and I just want to do an upgrade without reformating. Does anyone know a trick to install it on MBR anyway?
trus0und
youd have to patch your dvd. We needed to copy over a patched OSInstall.mpkg in order to get it to install on mbr. not sure if the snow one is out, i believe it is just a plist edit. flash
laatmaarzien
The USB method worked great! Never have I had full resolution during install. I didn't finish the installation. I will try that tonight, wiping out my Leopard HDD and installing Snow Leopard from scratch. Hope all goes well. Thanks!
