Defender666
Did not work either way. Same Error with or without it. Tried another kext from the forums. a modified IOATAFamily.kext for SL, that didn't work either. I guess I'll give this "snowosx Universal 10.6 v3.5.1 for PC" disk off the nova a try. Try to remove the IOAta kext completely from your Drive / Install Disk (use Pacifist). If the same error comes you did not remove it correctly. noob766
so as for the boot-132 cd. until they release a patched boot file its going to have errors. i don't have a retail disc so I can't test how to get it to boot. but the boot-132 disc worked for me for starting up my Snow Leopard Partition and the Install DVD. all i can say is make sure you put the right numbers in for X and Y. As for my Computer, it finds the mach_kernel itself so i didn't need the flags. and if it doesn't work I am sorry. I'll try to find a way.

No i am getting error in terminal trying to create a boot132 are you saying this is normal. Here is what i have done until i get the errors Open Terminal typed mkdir newiso then copied copy following from the package into the new directory newiso from BOOT-KABYL-BUMBY initrd.img isolinux.bin isolinux.cfg mboot.c32 Copy the boot file you downloaded over the one from BOOT-KABYL-BUMBY Here is where i think i messed up. I typed hdiutil resize -size 20MB newiso/initrd.img then CODE <key>OSBundleRequired</key> <string>Root</string> and got an error message. There it is here where i think i am screwing up. Please tell where am i getting confused at. I really want to learn how to create my own boot132 instead of trying to depend on others to do it for me. trus0und
tessla are u getting errors with this specific bit? CODE <key>OSBundleRequired</key> <string>Root</string> this is not supposed to be entered in at the terminal, if you go to your kexts and right click (option click) on it and go show package contents, then go in until u find info.plist, in the plist file at the bottom u have to make sure its got those keys from above so that bootX boots them. move on to the next step flash

mitko17
well I made a Boot132 cd and when it's loaded it shows me blue screen of Chameleon with choosing option my Leo 10.5 or Snow Leo 10.6 (wich I installed through leo 10.5, because there is no way to install it). Why doesn't give me a choice to boot: from a DVD after booet132 is loaded. Chameleon sees only HD. And after I choose snow leo partition with nomral mode it's goes only black screen. if I choose Verbose mode it shows me this at the end: how this boot work, with partiton or dvd, I use boot132 form my retail 10.5 and that boot use dvd to instal fresh copy
mitko17
I did it it; working but after I register a new account and transfer all my data when I tried to restart and than start again form the boot132 (for 10.6) it gives me a kernel panic that says that instead of 2 the systems recognise only 1 cpu core
Trograin
Mitko17. Few questions if I may. What Motherboard are you running? Can you uppload your boot-132.iso or send it to me so I can check it against the one I made. I made one following the instructions by SuperHai and this guide and I used the kexts I know I need for my motherboard but at Chameleont after pushing F and running with this commandline: -rd(2,1)/mach_kernel -v -rd=disk2s1 I still get a no mach_kernel found error. Even without this commandline same problem. and I am sure o the disk numbers, Have been checking them up before i tried this out.

Ok I tried that. Leopard tells me that it's drive 1 / disk1s0. But when I try to boot using: -rd(1,0)/mach_kernel -v -rf=disk1s0 It simply ignores the SL DVD and jumps directly to the HD to boot from. I'll now try to boot it without a HD. Just to be sure. EDIT: No success. Even with no HD, I get the photographed screen, and I can't boot with the options you gave me. I tried that using my SATA and USB DVD drives. there is no such thing as S0, its S1 or you might be able to leave it blank and boot with -rd(1)/mach_kernel -v -rd=disk1 I'm not sure though

But I haven't worked out the issues with booting a retail disc yet. If you restore the disk to a partition or a usb drive it should work though. But a guide on the USB sounds great, If you want I'll add it to the guide and credit you but if you want your own topic i'll be sure to link it. On the boot-132 cd I think the issue lies within chameleon and i'll keep looking for a fix to have it re detect the dvd drive so it can boot. also i'm thinking that if you boot with the cd it probably gets registered in your bios as disk0, so thats where the retail dvd probably sits and won't be the same when it was mounted earlier. edit- nope i was wrong so something interesting i found out. my dvd drive is located at disk1 so i used my boot-132 cd and swapped it with me retail leopard disc. booted with the flags the first time rd=disk1/mach_kernel -v rd=disk1 to make sure it was reading the disk with a mach_kernel on it it stalled at the same place posted lower then i booted with just rd=disk1 -v and I got this error Can't mount root device its an issue inside the AppleIntelPIXXATA.kext i'm sure but its an interesting result. but it means theres a solution. edit- might of stumbled on a nice big fix. i'm adding these strings to my boot.plist now, will post back if it works. the scan single drive might cause an error though so i'm testing <key>Rescan/key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Rescan Prompt</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Scan Single Drive</key> <string>No</string> edit- didn't work. apparently com.apple.boot.plist isn't being loaded. hunting for a fix. pane2k
I've read through this post multiple times while trying to make my boot132 cd for SL. I've used the boot132 in the past to install my 10.5 OS, so i have some experience with it. I made my cd exactly as the post says. I get to the chameleon screen, enter in the command to manually boot the cd. I've tried -rd(1,3) /mach_hernel -v -rd=disk1s3 and i've also tried -rd -disk1 -v, both of which yield the same result. Basically i get a wall of white text scrolling down the screen which is going slightly too fast to read anything from it, I hear the cd driving spinning at some point and then it just boots my HDD. I saw someone post earlier with the same exact issue but I didn't see a resolution. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks again to everyone who puts time and effort into this
