Squirrelf
there is no reason for you to be getting this error, which is strange all i can guess is that go through your bios again and see if you can change the set up. or take your IOATAFamily.kext from leopard and use that. I didn't specifically used IOATAFamily I used ATAPortinjector, which is what I used in Leo, anyway at the same point it KP, but this time the message was about IOATAFAmily instead of ApplePIIxAta

Currently using V3.0.0 - is there a newer version. That lspci is from my working Leopard 10.5.8 - can't give you one from SL as it won't boot. How do I determine what kexts I am using? Sorry, still a noob Is it just me or is there a problem with the board? I don't see my replies to my original post on page 3. If I go to page 4, all I get is your original post. snifferpro
lol did you even follow my guide? boot-132 is not the method for you if you don't know what kexts are... Yes, I followed your guide using the second option (USB). I used the kexts that you provided links to and put them on my USB stick and did the install. The install completed normally. When I boot the new SL on HD I get the error.

I'm runnin a pretty much vanilla iatkos v7 updated to 10.5.8 and wanted to give SL a try using 132boot method. During booting the retail disc: kernel panic!!! here is my lspci: 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 Memory Controller Hub [8086:2a00] (rev 0c) 00:01.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 PCI Express Root Port [8086:2a01] (rev 0c) 00:1a.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 [8086:2834] (rev 02) 00:1a.1 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 [8086:2835] (rev 02) 00:1a.7 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 [8086:283a] (rev 02) 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller [8086:284b] (rev 02) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 1 [8086:283f] (rev 02) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 2 [8086:2841] (rev 02) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 4 [8086:2845] (rev 02) 00:1c.5 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 6 [8086:2849] (rev 02) 00:1d.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 [8086:2830] (rev 02) 00:1d.1 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 [8086:2831] (rev 02) 00:1d.2 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 [8086:2832] (rev 02) 00:1d.7 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 [8086:2836] (rev 02) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge [8086:2448] (rev f2) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge [0601]: Intel Corporation 82801HEM (ICH8M) LPC Interface Controller [8086:2815] (rev 02) 00:1f.1 IDE interface [0101]: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) IDE Controller [8086:2850] (rev 02) 00:1f.2 SATA controller [0106]: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) SATA AHCI Controller [8086:2829] (rev 02) 00:1f.3 SMBus [0c05]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) SMBus Controller [8086:283e] (rev 02) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation GeForce 8400M GS [10de:0427] (rev a1) 0c:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4328 802.11a/b/g/n [14e4:4328] (rev 05) I tried a lot of kexts - combinations but always the same... KP It's a DELL XPS 1330M with NV8400m GS 128 MB (not sure if i am using correct efi string but that seems not to be my major problem, is it? ) Tried a lot workaround with AppleIntelPIIXPATA but always Kernel Panic. What is ment with replacing Device / Vendor ID in this kext (1. where do I get those IDs 2. How to and where to insert?) What do think are the minimal kexts I have to use? Anyone made SL running with ICH8 mobile boards...? Thanks a lot in advance... First of all, Thank you for including everything I asked for. It makes solving your issue much easier. change your hard drive mode in your bios add appleintelPIIXata.kext with dev ID's AHCIPortInjector.kext Yes, I followed your guide using the second option (USB). I used the kexts that you provided links to and put them on my USB stick and did the install. The install completed normally. When I boot the new SL on HD I get the error. list the kexts in your USB bootloader.

I will try AHCIPortInjector.kext very soon 3. with appleintelPIIXata.kext - where do I get the ID (OSXtools?, Sys-Profiler? ) Where will I have to insert the ID in the kext exactly, under some ICH8 Device (already searched for a detailed explanation since this could be it) Could you please explain that part in more detail (not epic)... Thanks so far...
