ricola
Apparently you didn't install BSD.pkg ... or you can go directly to the 10.6.1 update ... after that you can do the repair permissions.
Froboz
I just want to say thank you for this great guide. It helped me tremendously. I've now got 10.6.1 up and running with everything working perfectly, including 5.1 sound (finally!).

ricola
@Froboz - you're welcome @arko27 - so you got it worked but took you more than a minute to boot .. Apparently the NTFS (paragon/NTSF-3G) caused it .. you can uninstall them and use SL built-in capabilty to handle NTFS. This is how : create (or if exists: edit) the file /etc/fstab type in terminal sudo nano /etc/fstab in it put the following statement: LABEL={ntsf-volume-label} none ntfs rwLABEL=Windows 7 none ntfs rw or UUID=paste_the_ntfs_uuid_here none ntfs rwUUID=9B449153-3466-3B44-AEB4-DE6C2F2A50D2 none ntfs rw control + O enter to save control + X enter to exit reboot -ricola

MrSco
Thanks Ricola! up and running on 10.6.1 for some days now and no "major" issues... but still some annoying ones... 1. Pandora One Adobe Air app is "finicky" with remembering to start on login (System Pref/Accounts/Login Items). It works sometimes and most of the time it doesn't. The entry is missing. i've re-added 3 or 4 times now... (other apps seem to start fine... adium, remote volumes, etc) 2. CD/DVD ejection issues....I have two sata optical drives. a burner and a dvdrom. after burning a disc in particular using built-in DiskUtility or Finder, i'm unable to eject the disc. Disc isn't on desktop and missing from Disk Utility... weird stuff. don't wanna have to use paper clip... *I'm not sure if these two problems existed before 10.6.1 update... i only had a day or so before i upgraded. could these be upgrade issues? Although i did install illustrator cs3 around the same time... isn't cs3 known capatibility issues with snow?* 3. Keyboard and Mouse mappings... usb overdrive is the only tool i know of that will map the back and forward buttons on my logitech mouse... and it isn't compatible yet... any way to do this native? Edit a plist somewhere?... on my keyboard its just things like, Home and End keys or just text navigation in general with keyboard shortcuts.. .control to skip words... any way to change these behaviors? Other than those it runs very very fast. haven't had a kp yet (knock on wood). go snow! -mrsco

onemanstrash
well this is directed at waveman. I have an evga 8800gts 640 as well. I have a perfect install. 10.6.1 and all seems to be working. I'm very happy but when i go to use my calibration assistant the sliders do nothing. This is a first for me. I've tried different boot.plist strings, in 64 and 32. I've run nvenabler, nvinject, and even nvkush in -x32. All the same. When i used the kexts i had removed the boot.plist string. The performance was always the same. Everything works except calibration. I have two lcds hooked up to my dual dvi ports. I guess i'm going to try and use a different gfx card and see what happens. Maybe it's just this particular model that you and i seam to have. I also added the nvcaps from nvkush to see if that helped but there was no noticeable difference. I really hope to get this solved as i'm very happy with how snappy snow is. I got a 552 point increase in geekbench even in -x32 mode EP45-UD3R, e8400, 8800 gts
pkmoazzam
hello Ricola i am deaf. i got a macbook pro comes with the snow leopard dvd. i am trying to install it on my ip35 pro same as yours. i changed the bios -- RAID to AHCI and running chameleon v2.0-rc3 r655. inserted snow leopard dvd in then press F5 and type -f -v with 64bit then enter. it ran like crazy till stop at "kext com apple dont steal mac os x cant unload - module stop returned oxdc008007" i did try arch=i386 for 32bit, it is the same errors. damn, almost to the snow leopard installer. whats up with it? i been using 10.5.X on ip35 for a few months ip35 pro motherboard intel E8400 4gb ram 230gb sata hdd ati HD4870 sorry for my english
onemanstrash
well this is directed at waveman. I got a 552 point increase in geekbench even in -x32 mode EP45-UD3R, e8400, 8800 gts 640 ok problem solved (sort of) I put my 9500 gt from my other rig in and it worked like a charm. I can use the calibration assistant to adjust the monitors again. And i have a correction: i have a BFG 8800 gts 640, not an EVGA. So the 8800 gts 640 goes into my leopard 10.5.7 rig for music editing for now.

Shoe
Thanks for a great guide! My install had a couple rough spots, but I got over them and have been running SL for a week with no issues. Charlie
