360freak
Reporting to be 100% working with Cartri's custom ep45-ud3r bios and NO DSDT at all! I simply followed the instruction in the guide, but deleted the dsdt.aml from my hard drive and just skipped the step involving it. Then before my first boot, I installed the Cartri bios. For the bios settings, I referred to the settings listed in the pdf bundled with the bios download, but used the ones in this guide for the settings specified here. (So basically, use the settings listed here, then for all other settings not mentioned, refer to the pdf). Before the first boot, I also deleted the kexts listed in the pdf as not needed. You also don't have to use the DSDT=cartri command at boot, as the dsdt file on your drive will already be deleted. Woot! EDIT: Apparently I somewhat lied, though it's nothing mobo related. I can't get QE/CI on my graphics and as with my last attempt at Leopard, my mouse is jumpy/glitchy. My card is listed in my sig - NVidia 9800 GT 512mb. I'm using the 8800 GT efi string as they are essentially the same cards and that's what I've always done in the past. Any advice? And my mouse is a Logitech G5. Especially with precise movements, it will start making small jumps/glitches on the string. Any advice on this? Thanks
JFLNYC
I tried (and am using) the Cartri BIOS myself. It's extremely promising. But I had to reinsert my DSDT file to get my GTS 250 graphics card recognized. Could not find/generate an EFI string which worked (including strings I'd used successfully before), which has never happened to me before. Thanks Hi 360freak and JFLNYC, did you try Graphicsenabler=yes in com.apple.boot.plist ? 360freak About your mouse I would probably first try to fix Graphic issue so: generate accurate to your GPU string if Graphicsenabler doesnt work, then if you still have jumpy mouse and if you use Logitech drivers, I would remove them, try with apple stock drivers, then whatever the results are: install Steermouse and either - to configure the mouse or - to check if things got better. Can you give us more details about Catri bios upgrade ? like: sleep, restart, shutdown, usb removal error, audio, firewire hotplug, system boot time ? what kexts do you have to use to make things working ? thanks s

pplug
Hey guys, I am using the cartri .7m bios on my ud3r! I have a q9550 and a gtx 260 as well. I've had some random panics but I'm hoping that they are due to my overclocking (I've turned it down a bit since then and had no problems). I still have a problem with automatic sleep. I've tried a new system on a fresh HD and still no go! I've heard others making this work, but I think I have a hardware issue. I had this problem when I was using a DSDT file as well. The program Please Sleep has made automatic sleep possible but I want to get as perfect a setup as possible now. No, I'm not running Istat menus or any other system add-ons. I have unplugged all usb devices as well. I tried with a fresh install following all the instructions in the PDF. Anybody with any clues?

Can you give us more details about Catri bios upgrade ? like: sleep, restart, shutdown, usb removal error, audio, firewire hotplug, system boot time ? what kexts do you have to use to make things working ? thanks s Sleep works fine, restart is good, shutdown is good and does not take long, no USB removal errors that I've noticed, audio is great (I just had to select the "internal speakers"), and the system boot time is pretty average. I just screwed up my install with the nvidia 9000 v2 driver, so I'm doing a reinstall tomorrow and will get back with more results on my graphics. Thanks for the advice! Kexts are as I listed before - only those listed in the BIOS pdf as still needed. I did NOT have to install: SleepEnabler.kext, OpenHaltRestart.kext, any restart fixer kext, or HDAEnabler.kext. I'll list my exact kexts when I have my SL install back up and running. It turns out my mouse is known for lack of support for OS X and poor functionality in mac. I tried USB overdrive and steermouse with no success, so I just purchased a Logitech LX8 mouse and it works fine.

Thanks Hi 360freak, at least, I hope I can help you with this : my card also is 9800GT & my mouse is G5. I also had the exact same problem while on Leopard last year. Apparently with this particular combo, you have to downgrade Quicktime. I read the explanation why but I don't remember it right now http://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts..._quicktime.html That's what I had to do (on Leopard) to get rid of the glitchy mouse movements coming out of sleep. I'm eyeing my UD3R board with a gleam in my eye and my hands are itching to try Catri's bios too except that I've got work to do and I don't have time to test it on my spare HD I use as a testbed. Will report if I do. With this new bios, how long does sleep on demand take now? My previous SL install took over 15 seconds..
JFLNYC
It might also be an AppleUpstreamUserClient.kext problem (in S/L/E). The kext can be removed safely, which often fixes the jumping mouse problem along with stuttering iTunes/Quicktime without having to downgrade QT. If you remove it, remember to run Kext Utility (or at least clear your extensions cache).
Matt Mastrobuono
I have tried to install snow leopard on my gigabite ep45-ud3r with bios f12 and it has not worked. some of the changes to the bios required are not on my bios screen and when the computer loads the mac booting screen before installation it goes into a kernal panic
360freak
In response to a few of the previous posts - I'm back on SL now. The sleep is almost instant, there's no delay as far as I can notice. I tried the graphicsenabler=yes option and it was unsuccessful. With the quicktime downgrade, does that mean I will never be able to update quicktime if I want to use my G5? Just wondering if it's worth it or not to stick with the LX8 or return it.

Thanks '360freak', reason Im asking you for that info is because Im wondering what is advantage of using Cartri BIOS update, my system runs perfectly fine with two kexts in E/E, optimised DSDT and boot in 35 seconds (mind Im using parallels desktop), I imagine only thing I can gain here is fastest boot time, right ? any feedback here ? thanks I have tried to install snow leopard on my gigabite ep45-ud3r with bios f12 and it has not worked. some of the changes to the bios required are not on my bios screen and when the computer loads the mac booting screen before installation it goes into a kernal panic 'Matt Mastrobuono' boot system in verbose mode (-v) and post your screen with KP here, what kexts you have in Extra Extensions folder ? put your hardware details in your signature. The 9800GT in EFIStudio is the 1GB version, I'm using the 512MB one. I've made custom strings for the 9800gt and tried those as well. I just did a software update to 10.6.3 though, and now I'm getting instant kernal panics. I just saw "***UPDATE*** Possible solution includes making sure you rebuild your kextcache after everything, BE 100% SURE IT WORKED!" I didn't do that before the update...is there a way I can do it off of my 10.5.4 install on my external hard drive? And I can't really see you benefitting from the BIOS if you already have your OS installed then. I haven't timed the boot time, but it's pretty quick. I really just like the BIOS since I don't have to deal with DSDT stuff.

( sorry for my bad quote, Im new here ) Hi ! Same issue here after 10.6.3 combo update, searched it and saw it is fixable. I have existing hackintosh(10.5.8) HDD, booted from it so I can plug and manipulate my Snow HDD. Download NullCPUPM.kext from this page: http://netkas.org/?p=382 And drag it in the Extra/Extensions folder to replace it and delete SleepEnabler.kext if you have. That's it ! It worked for me. jimbobuk
I've noticed today that my machine was running with 100MB/s ethernet.. trying to change it in the network properties and it failed.. its 100MB-ness survived a full shutdown and psu switch off.. it only came back onto gigabit within the bios doing a smartlan test.. i've commented out the bonjour fix and booted and its running at gigabit without bonjour, i'll try turning bonjour back on and see if this affects it at all. Even running at alleged gigabit, i'm only seeing about 16-20MB/s transfers versus more like 40-60+ that i see when gigabit is working properly. What speeds and sync rates are others getting? I'm starting to wonder whether this hardware is just a bit fussy.. i've never booted it in another OS to know whether it'd work perfectly well in that. I'm thinking about buying a hardware NIC which is listed as working out of the box. If i did this i presume i wouldn't require the ethernet part of the dsdt patch? Can i just disable the LAN on the motherboard, plugin the NIC and expect it to work? Would you still need the bonjour hack in this state? I was looking at the cards listed here http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...2#Network_Cards TP-Link TG-3269 Trendnet TEG-PCITXR seem possible. Anyone else gone down this route with any hardware? Cheers
toolbox1234
I followed the instructions here and is able to install SL on my GA-965P-DS3 rev 1.0 and have a question about the bootloader. My system have two disk. First one is MBR based with Win 7 on the first partition and Leopard 10.5.8 with Chameleon V2 RC4 on the 2nd partition. The SL is on the 2nd drive using the bootloader downloaded from the first post of this thread. If I use the BIOS to boot off the 2nd drive, everything is fine. However, if I use Chameleon RC4 to boot my SL, I got: "Errors encountered while starting up the computer. Pausing for 5 seconds...". After few seconds, it will boot into SL without further issue. Just wonder what is in the PC EFI 10.1 package that the rc4 is lacking.
