sstyle
After sleeping and you press the power button what happens ? Boot start as normal power on (Graphics card, table, Chameleon with disk for boot) No I think he can't GET it to sleep in the first place. Make sure you're using one of the restart kexts, and if it doesn't work, try the other. (OpenHaltRestart.kext or OSXRestart.kext (sp?)) i use OpenHaltRestart.kext from 1st post. Its look like power off....

UPD: i solve the problem with sound with /Sl pack/DSDT Stuff/How to Patch DSDT/series of LegacyHDA 885 (ALC889a)/3out2in HDA headphone/LegacyHDA.kext and now SPDIF-out works! Chrisbees
d00m42 which one of the LegacyHDA.kext files do I need? In your old 1.25 pack I believe there was 4 different ones for the 889a between the 3 out 2 in and 4 outs 2 in, then each one of them had either HDA or regular headphone. So far I haven't had any luck with the 5.1, can't get sound out of all the channels. Also is it possible to install Windows 7 on the same HD as SL if you done have it installed? Been trying to find a decent guide if SL is done installed but have had no luck, keep getting a NTLDR is missing error Press Ctrl + Alt + Dele when trying to boot Win. 7 on my flash drive. You should be able to look up a dual booting guide with Leopard, because as long as it's Chameleon, it should be very similar. As for the sound, all I know is that with 5.1, you will lose the ability to control volume with anything other than a separate speaker hardware controller in SL. The kext that will enable 5.1 isn't in my old or new pack I think, as I have always used 2.1 sound.
bluesyblues
Hello, I had everything running in excellent condition until I decided to increase the memory from 1x2gb to 2x2gb. My machine specs are exactly the same as described in the beginning of the topic. I tried the kernel flag maxmem but still no luck. I read a lot about Jmicron thing causing the problem and I don't have any IDE drives. Any help here is much appreciated.

If you changed memory and you have booting problems, try to describe exactly what happens when you boot. You might have to loosen the timings from what the spec is (5-5-5-18 should be fine if the memory is C5), and make sure that there is enough voltage going to the RAM (read the packaging to see what the correct voltage should be). If the problem is directly related to SL and not the BIOS/hardware level if your computer, then I would put your old RAM back, and one of the new sticks (you have over 2 slots, right?) and use memtest on each stick to see if either of the new ones are bad. After you've tried that, let me know what happens.

Well I did not change the memory chips I just got a new chip and added it to the old one, it is not a bad chip as when it is placed alone the machine is back to normal. The problem is with more than 2gb of Ram. What happens is the machine starts normally and as soon as I try to run any application it gives the semi-transparent gray screen with many languages that says hold down the start button.... The voltage written on the memory chips is 1.8V. The part where you say " You might have to loosen the timings from what the spec is (5-5-5-18 should be fine if the memory is C5)" I have no idea what you are talking about here. Found on many threads people talking about disabling jmicron from bios, but I did not find anything on the mobo bios setup that is related to jmicron. sw170
Well I did not change the memory chips I just got a new chip and added it to the old one.. Check you system with both sticks mounted with memtest, most likely you have memory compatibility problem
bluesyblues
Check you system with both sticks mounted with memtest, most likely you have memory compatibility problem The memtest CD does not continue loading, burnt twice in case the CD was faulty but same thing happened. I also tested with another pair of memory chips that are working fine on a windows 7 64bit and still the same thing happens - one chip of 2gb is fine 2 chips of 2gb is not. sw170
..using the 2 chips together causes the system to halt as soon as it starts.. If you using memory bank 1-3 (yellow colour) try to use 2-4 (red) otherwise you need to do some changes in BIOS - memory settings, have a look at link I posted, find website, forum of your memory manufacturer

Yeah, but you can also just open up "Activity Monitor" in the Utilities folder, and see whether "kernel_task" is running in 64-bit.

lateralusman
Okay I'm stuck on the last step in the How to patch DTST. Compiling dsdt.dsl to dsdt.aml and using DSDT.aml. It says to: - open terminal drag & drop the iasl into terminal - Type -sa - drag & drop dsdt.dsl into terminal and press enter. I got it to work by putting a space before the -sa and then another space THEN drag & drop dsdt.dsl then press enter. Is that correct? EDIT: Followed the Guide as close as possible, rebooted with -v -x32 got this kernel panic:

Try using the xopher DSDT included in my pack, because if you're getting a KP it's most likely a tiny mistake in your DSDT edit (which can get pretty frustrating)! The pack is a few pages back, but I'll try and find it now and link it here. It's on my Mac partition and I'm in Windows at the moment. SL Pack v5.0b is Here! http://uppit.com/v/ZZ507CIG Because you have an E8400 (and I have an E8500) and we both have a UD3R, it should work fine. EDIT: I used the Chameleon RC2 from the SL Pack v5.0b instead of PC EFI 10.1 and replaced the boot file so I should have RC4 now. Also using the DSDT included in your SL Pack v5.0b I'm in Snow Leopard as we speak! Intro played but no sound full RES but no QE/CI. EFI string EFIStudio gave me didn't work for my 8800GT. I think that's because it's not a G92 8800GT. I'll try the EFI string I have for my Working 10.5.7 partition. Can see all my Hard drives and my optical drive works as well. Wireless works OTB as my network card works with OS X. Grab won't take screenshots, maybe cause I don't have QE/CI.... Edit 2: Have sound now. Went into the sound control panel and switched the output to speaker.
iTravis
Hello everyone, I'm a newbie who just happen to have some parts lying around and I wanna build a Hackintosh just to play around with it for fun. I don't really have much knowledge with Mac like I do with PC (I'm a PC dude) but I would love to get know more about it. Anyway here's my specs so far: E7400, Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L, 2GB RAM, 500GB HDD.... I notice that if I wanna install Snow Leopard on this machine then it requires to have an existing OS X, I'm gonna assemble this PC from the ground up for the next couple days and I'm wondering if anyone could send me a complete step by step guide to install Leopard on my upcoming build first. I really appreciate for the help.
