pmcnano
by SuperLFM, what is that in your cpu? I mean, what frecuency your cpu gets, because im still getting the minimum of 1.6ghz (2.4ghz processor)..and I think VoodooPower did the same, so then again, whats the superLFM frecuency and voltage? twuble
Per post #1, you should have the modified dsdt loaded&working as well. You didn't mention that so I suspect that's your problem. I have also posted troubleshooting info for this a while back. Sorry, I do have the modified dsdt loaded and running, well I've got the right graphics resolution running and it looks like I have QE/CI running as well (from - http://prasys.co.cc/2009/09/quartz-extreme...-snow-leopard/) which I wouldn't be able to get if the dsdt wasn't loaded correctly. I tried doing a search for your username and voodoo, or battery but nothing came back. Is the troubleshooting info you posted a while back in this thread or another one somewhere else? Thanks. bcc9
by SuperLFM, what is that in your cpu? I mean, what frecuency your cpu gets, because im still getting the minimum of 1.6ghz (2.4ghz processor)..and I think VoodooPower did the same, so then again, whats the superLFM frecuency and voltage? My CPU is a p8600, but all cpus that dell ships for this laptop are the same class, all supporting SuperLFM. For the p8600, the multipliers are 6x thru 9x, frequencies 1600Mhz thru 2400Mhz. With SuperLFM, if it was working, the 6x multiplier would be running at 50% of the 1600Mhz frequency, or 800Mhz. The exact voltages may vary from processor to processor. Mine runs 9X at 1.137volts, 6X at 1.000v. From the datasheet, looks like super-lfm is about 8% less voltage than the 6X multiplier, so it should be about .92v. Stock voodoopower locks up on this laptop because of super-lfm mode. The version of voodoopower I've posted has my fix to disable super-lfm mode. Stock voodoopower&voodoopstate also have a bug in their pstate calculations and so were not using low enough voltages for the 6X multipliers. I just posted a new version of voodoopstate (v2) in post #1 that improves the voltages slightly in my case at 6X. Before the change 6X was running at 1.012volts. pmcnano
Uh, ok ok! So we dont really have superLFM stages right? Because at least I have the same cpu as you, and I just dont get the 800mhz one. But as you said, I do get the 1600mhz@ 1V one. Ok cool! rawr

I don't know why the system locks up when stock versions of voodoopower/voodoopstate try to use the lfm pstates. Probably the proper bios support for the lower frequency is missing. I haven't seen the system running at a lower frequency under windows or linux either. If anyone else has info on getting the lfm modes working under windows, it might be possible to do the same with osx.
etiger13
Part one of my tutorial is a consolidation of the files in post 1 to make it easier to get started. Boombeng
Let me know if you guys figure out gain control for the mics. Hard issue, it seems related to MuteGPIO missing under mic in Layouts but i'm not sure , I cant' figure out which value to put. When I try wrong value all the input and ouputs are broken. And thx for bluetooth pkg cheers

And thx for bluetooth pkgThanks, I'm starting to get down the under-documented & quirky OSX packaging system Should save some newbie questions.Maybe you could update post #1 in the bluetooth thread to point to the package as the preferred solution. Newbies are still asking about sleepwatcher which should be unnecessary if only they were using the kext.

bcc9
10.6.2 is out and are we able to update through apple update? Anything new for us 1340 users? Thanks for your replyAt long last the atheros 802.11 driver supports 64 bit kernels. However, audio is no longer working for some reason. fakesmc is logging some errors but it doesn't appear to affect anything. That's all I've noticed so far.
Boombeng
Yes, I tried the config changes that seemed to be working with other platforms but couldn't get anything working, and also never got the analog mic-in jack to work with applehda either. In the old patched applehda the anlog Mic in worked with Nodes 26 32 29 41 14 in pathmap, but when I try to put this nodes in the legacy it doesn't work, even if a second mic device appears in sound PrefPan... and what is interesting with this new device = it has gain controle. So I guess Mic Gain controle is related to Nodes 29 41 cause the Internal Mic uses only 3 nodes 27 33 19 In linux codec dump we can see : 27 33 = Audio Input + Audio selector 26 32 = idem 14 = Pin complex 19 = idem 29 41 = Mixer + Audio selector When I try to use 29 41 nodes with those related to Internal mic (26 32 29 41 19 or other trials mixing nodes) it doesn't work Also what I noticed in Codec Dump = Node 29 has a connection with nodes 40 41 42 43 and 18 so it uses node 41 connection because Node 41 has a connection with node 14 but any of 5 nodes connected to 29 has a connection with Node 19 = maybe a missing connection is the cause of lack of gain controle for Internal Mic (?) I also tried this with several changes for node 19 verbs like Port and location but no go [Edit] I also tried all this after adding ExtMic in Layout and under Inputs in layout Thanks, I'm starting to get down the under-documented & quirky OSX packaging system Should save some newbie questions.Maybe you could update post #1 in the bluetooth thread to point to the package as the preferred solution. wargle
I installed snow leopard using the SnowOSXUniversal DVD v3.5 Everything worked fine and all till I installed the 10.6.2 update. No I get a cpu mismatch error does any one have a solution or would a vanilla install be the only solution to this. I have a working windows 7 Partition still available. :/

Joy2DaWurld
hmm I've seemed to updated to 10.6.2 and my SL partition won't even start up anymore. I keep getting a kernel panic and I'm not sure how to fix it =\
mikeraffone
Yes, as far as I know. Theoretically AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement would pick up the p-states and do everything without an extra "voodoo" kext, but for some reason it's not. The pstate kext only seems to automatically adjust the speed of the cpu when the application pstatechanger is open and running. Surely with the pstate kext (as per your patched post) loaded and vanilla IntelCPUManagement loaded and running, and the smbios.plist set to an appropriate value like MacBook5,1 .... then pstatechanger shouldn't need to be running in order for the computer to automatically limit the multiplier values. As it is, without pstatechanger running, the computer is always running at a value of 6x ... no matter what the load on the CPU is. Does this happen for you bcc9? ... What do you think this might be? I'm tempted to think that its an issue with the smbios not being set to the correct value for my CPU, a P8800. Any thoughts?
bcc9
The pstate kext only seems to automatically adjust the speed of the cpu when the application pstatechanger is open and running.Yes, unfortunately that's by design per the voodoopstate thread. I'm still looking for a better solution that also works under 64 bit. Last I tried I didn't come up with a working combo of smbios, dsdt, acpi_smc_platformplugin changes that would do the right thing by themselves (without voodoopower/voodoopstate). In the mean time running pstatechanger docked works just fine (or the older voodoopower if you only use 32 bit mode). I've only been able to fix the pcivendorproductid error (that one's easy). I could use some help figuring out what else is wrong. You can replace applehda with the pre-10.6.2 version and it works just fine with the new kernel.

Looks like etiger is working on that if you want to be his alpha tester. I don't think zipping kexts is the right way to go; a mpkg would achieve the same result and handle the install steps. An mpkg involves extra work to set up and maintain such a repacking effort though...

The zip I posted included everything, including a mkext for the Extras folder so its good to go. Im going to work on an auto packager or something for it so updates will be easy. bcc9
Good news: I've fixed my HDAIDT to work with 10.6.2. Thanks to westep23 for his 14z version, which showed me what I was missing. Updated in post #1. So now there's no longer a need to use an older AppleHDA with 10.6.2, just update HDAIDT to my new v3.
