Okay, I closed the lid and OSX went to sleep, but my copmuter is still running. And even when I restarted the computer, it doesnt boot up. It doesn't even show me the apple logo in the beginning. I ran with -v and it stops in the very beginning *Loaded HFS+ file: [system/Library/CoreServices/SystemVersion.plist] 479 bytes from 42526c0*

 

I don't want to reinstall again. Can anyone help me with this?

Got back with Wake=n command at boot. But why does my computer go into hibernate when closing the lid or pressing sleep? Is there a way to fix this and have a normal sleep that works if i reopen the lid?

I read somewhere, that disabling usb legacy will do the trick, but i can't find an option in bios

See post #1 for the two pieces you need for system sleep upon lid close.

If your system is hibernating instead of sleeping, you probably used pmset to change hibernatemode from the default (which is sleep not hibernate). If you do this you need to use a boot loader newer than chameleon 2rc4 in order for wake from hibernation to work. I made some posts about that topic too.

 

I know this is trivial, but has anyone noticed using Photobooth or iChat, that your webcam is reversed? I have done an OSX install on my 1340 probably about 15 times now and I have only noticed it on about 5 or so of those installs. If so, does anyone have any words of wisdom to flip the image?

I never use the webcam, but oh ya, I just tried it and it is mirroring the image (swapping left and right). I assume a real macbook doesn't do this? I'm not sure what's wrong.

I installed chameleon RC5 and it still doesn't turn off. I pushed sleep and I think the harddrive turns off and practically everything else, but the fan is still running and the computer itself doesn't turn off. + after installing chameleon 5, I get this strange error in the beginning of boot, it says that the dsdt is old or something like that and press any key to debug_dsdt.

 

So my problems are then

1. after pressing sleep, the OS turns off but the computer doesn't

2. debug_dsdt error in the beginning

I don't understand the scenarios that are working for you. Before you started to configure hibernation instead of sleep, did clicking on Sleep from the menu work? Did clicking on shutdown result in a full hardware shutdown?

Sounds like you didn't install OpenHaltRestart from post #1.

I only have a 9400 so I can't say. The battery life is pretty sucky with the standard 6 cell battery.

For memory type, there is the cosmetic smbios.plist change I posted.

Newer boot loaders may be able to finally detect the real memory type.

So what bootloader are you using? In some of the beta bootloaders openhaltrestart functionality is implemented by the loader. Maybe you picked a broken bootloader.

Ok, I used rc4 for a long time, I know sleep can work fine in that version. You're sure OpenHaltRestart is loaded?

Wait, when you mouse apple->sleep, the power light does not transition to flashing? Check your kernel.log to see what's wrong.

More is not better when it comes to hackintosh kexts. When you install kexts that are not even applicable to the hardware you have you can easily cause problems.

I can't tell what you're doing wrong, I'm not sure where to start. Seems like you need to check out some newbie threads for basic install info. If you follow post #1, you'd have configured the system to boot with -v and so you'd have diagnostic output not a grey apple screen if you ran into problems.

I really don't know what [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] might be doing to you, suggest you go ask for support in a [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] thread.

So I tested what seems to be the mainline version of chameleon rc5, http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=231075 and hibernation does work. No need for a special chameleon branch anymore. Other notes:

 

OpenHaltRestart is still required as, otherwise, reboot leaves the system hung in shutdown but powered on state.

/Extra/smbios.plist was renamed /Extra/SMBIOS.plist, so annoyingly you have to rename this file to keep any model name/memory config working. Memory type/speed is still not auto-detected.

 

New installs should be able to proceed directly to the package installer, http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&id=78839 , instead of installing the old Chameleon-2.0-r431.pkg.zip recommended in post #1. I haven't tried this myself. Maybe someone would like to try and report back.

dear all expert..

it's my first post, please forgive me if I do it wrong..

I have tried the method in the first post, but when the installer asked where to install, it can't detect my (my campus's XPS 1340) harddisk.

the harddisk have MBR scheme, because we still need windows 7..

 

this is the steps that I did:

- burn boot132 to dvd using nero (I couldn't find any cd at that time)

- restore the SL dmg to my external harddisk

- replace the OSInstall binary and mpkg in the external hardisk (because the laptop hardisk is MBR)

- restart the laptop, and boot from dvd

- choose the Mac OSX Install partition (my external hardisk)

 

that's what I did.

and it couldn't find the laptop hardisk. and when I checked Disk Utility, there's only my external hardisk..

But the file that I copied from my friend is "snowleopard_10a432_userdvd.dmg"

Okay, now I'm going to find the 10.6.3 image.

The instructions were written before 10.6.3, they surely work with a genuine original 10.6 DVD, and an MBR partitioned disk.

Not seeing the disk at all suggests a more fundamental problem than the partitioning strategy, such as the use of a bad re-pack of OSX.

Because I think I do it right..

I fomatted my external disk with Mac OS X journaled, GUID partition table, from Hackintosh PC.

Then, I replace the two files (rm -rf /Volumes/Mac.../OsInstall, cp OSIntall /Volumes/Mac.../, rm -rf /Volumes/Mac.../OSInstall.mpkg, and cp OSInstall.mpkg /Volumes/Mac.../)

After that, I boot the boot132 dvd, (but I didn't see the "EBIOS read error: Device timeout" error messages pass by, the chameleon loader started with some text, but not that read error...)

Then I move to the Mac OSX Install (my external drive), then press enter.

And when it's the time to choose where to install, there only my external drive in the box. I couldn't see the laptop hardisk..

 

Please, need your advice.. I'm waiting for your reply.
